There is NO random dancing at Disney! A June TR *NEW 9/19 *FINAL THOUGHTS*

We leave for the Beach Club in 4 weeks so I am loving your report. If you have a picture of the daybed made up as a bed, could you post it? Did housekeeping make it up for you each evening or do they just leave you the bedding so you could do it yourself each night? I am looking forward to reading all the details, big and little. Thanks.

Ahhh.... The Beach Club!! :cloud9: That would be my first choice resort (with AKL close behind) if I could choose any resort to stay at. DH & I went to dinner at the Yacht club during our 2007 trip and really enjoyed checking out the Beach Club. I would love to stay there sometime. The funny thing is that when we were there in 07 we had no idea how close to Epcot we were. After dinner we explored the resorts a bit then walked over to the Boardwalk area. Obviously I hadn't done my homework!! :headache:

Awesome picture of the kids in the car! That is pure Disney adrenaline captured in that picture!!

The room looks beautiful. Not a bad place to lay your head down after a long day in the parks. :thumbsup2

OOH what a gorgeous room and YAY for it being ready for you!! I would love to stay at BC someday!!! Well you made it...can't wait to see what you guys decided to do next!

I wasn't expecting the room to be ready so it was a great surprise.:)

We stayed there in January of 2008 and the rooms have definitely been redone...at least the daybed is very different for sure! Cute little Mickey lamp is the same though! We loved the BC for it's closeness to Epcot and SAB...isn't it just wonderful?? You guys got a great balcony. Ours was just a walkout thingie.

Hi! I could picture George and I out there with a couple of drinks after the kids were asleep. Unfortunately, we fell asleep with them.:rotfl: Yes, we loved SAB.:lovestruc

I'm here, I'm late, I'm going back to read!

Oh hi!! I'm so happy you've joined in. Don't worry. No points will be deducted for tardiness.;)

Wellllll, Epcot or SAB? It's a win/win situation! My guess is Epcot, but hmmmm maybe not, if the kids got a look at SAB.......:goodvibes

I will say that the vote was not unanimous.

That hotel is so beautiful! We spent a little time walking around it while trying to get into Beaches & Cream and we thought that even the hallways were cute, especially the little number plates w/ the shells next to the doors. We were wondering what the rooms looked like, so thank you for posting pictures! I bet it was nice to have the balcony, just so you felt like you had another "room" to go to. You are so brave to drive that distance w/ 3 kids! Of course, if your kids are well behaved (which it sounds like yours are), it helps a lot.

My kids have their moments, but the drive went surprisingly well. Did you get into Beaches and Cream? We never made it.:sad1:

I'd vote for Epcot. The kids for SAB. DH would defer to wherever the closest beer was at that point in the day lol.

I can't wait to see pics of SAB! Your room looks lovely.

The vote may or may not have gone pretty much like that.:rolleyes1

A 5 minute walk to Epcot sounds great to me! It's always a toss-up though..close to "stuff" or privacy and quiet.

Once George agreed to be the mug refill runner we were all set.:thumbsup2

Swim would be my vote! Can't wait to hear more! :surfweb:

The Holy Grail of Signs!!! Love it!!! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

How nice to be showered with so much attention and have your room ready! That is the perfect way to start the vacation!

What a gorgeous room!!! I just love it! Now I really want to stay at the Beach Club one day! :lovestruc

Yes, the attention we received at check in set the mood.:goodvibes

The kids look so cute excited to get closer to Disney! I love the room and it was nice to have that attention upon arrival! Great way to start a vacation!

The kids were so excited and so LOUD and I may or may not have been screaming just a little myself.:rolleyes1

Loved the pics from BC. We ate at Cape May and DH loved the resort. HMM?? Was that the plan???:rolleyes1 Could a 5'6" adult sleep on the day bed???

BTW, I would have voted for EPCOT! Anything to get to a park.

What day were you at Cape May? Did you have breakfast or dinner? Hmmm...the daybed was surprisingly long, but I don't know how long for sure?:confused3

Love the picture of the kids in the car! Too cute. They look super excited.

Room looks gorgeous! I am so going to stay there someday.

Definitely!:thumbsup2

I just went through all the pictures I have downloaded onto photobucket and don't have one of the daybed.:sad2: Anyway, the first day we transformed it into a bed by folding it over. The cushions didn't come off and it was already made up with sheets and a blanket. We "sacrificed" a pillow from each bed which wasn't a problem since each bed had 5 pillows. It would have been very easy to transform back into a couch each day, but we didn't and housekeeping made it up just like the other beds. Hope that helps.:thumbsup2 You are going to LOVE the BC!:cloud9:

We enjoyed peering at the Boardwalk from the BC, but we never made it over there. Did you eat at Yachtsman Steakhouse? The menu looks so yummy!

Awesome picture of the kids in the car! That is pure Disney adrenaline captured in that picture!!

Oh, and the pillows were little pieces of heaven.:cloud9:

I soooo want to stay at the Beach Club. We stayed at the YC when I was in HS, but the Beach Club is more relaxing and I like the Decor. Tough decision right away...

Now that you are proud DVC owners, maybe a stay at BCV is in your future.:goodvibes

We were at Cape May Cafe on Monday the 22nd. We had dinner. We are big seafood lovers. Thanks for the info. I'm sure it I call the resort, they can tell me how long the bed is.

Thanks, Have a great weekend.

When I left off, we had a decision to make. Epcot or SAB? I thought a walk over to Epcot would be nice, but I was outnumbered 4 to 1 and honestly, it didn’t take much arm twisting to change my mind. I wanted to check out the pool too! It was about 2:00 now and our Chef Mickey reservation was at 5:35, so we didn’t have a ton o’ time so we needed to swim fast! We changed and headed down to the pool. I’m sorry I don’t have any pictures of SAB from today, but I knew we were all getting wet and I didn’t want to leave the camera unattended or have to sit with it. We did get a few later in the week, I promise! We headed down to the pool area, where we had to show our room key to get wrist bands to use the pool. Then we meandered a bit. SAB is huge and getting from one part to another via the bridges takes a little bit of trial and error. We finally decided to park our stuff near the kiddie area. Ian and George played in the kiddie pool, which is a large, zero entry, sand bottomed area. They dug in the sand and the girls got their swim on right away in one of the deeper sections of the pool. I went to get us some food. Our dinner reservation was in 3 hours so we didn’t want full meals, but we hadn’t had lunch yet and were all pretty hungry. I headed over to Hurricane Hannah’s and ordered 2 kids meals, one grilled cheese the other cheeseburger, and one adult cheeseburger meal to share. The kids meals came in sand buckets, which I thought were super cute. We cut up the sandwiches and shared everything. Perfect! We were far from full but were no longer uncomfortably hungry. Mission accomplished. I swam with Ian in the front area of the pool where there were some pool games going on while George and the girls braved the pirate ship slide. When they came down, I passed Ian to George and told him to head up to the room in about 20 minutes. I had a top secret mission to accomplish: Room presents! If you followed along on the PTR, you know what I’m talking about, but for new readers here was my plan; assemble gift bags for the kiddos of some items that they’d use at Disney World. I had brought some of the items with us, but I still needed to pick up a couple of things at the BC gift shop. I did my best Mission Impossible impression, tracked down the Marketplace, and made my purchases. I got lanyards, refillable mugs, and pressed penny books. When I got back up to the room it was almost 4:00. Uh oh, we’d have to hurry. I locked myself in the bathroom to put the gift bags together then hid them in the shower. We wouldn’t have time for even a quick rinse before we had to leave for Chef Mickey’s, so they were safe.

The kids and George got back from the pool and I cracked the whip. We can’t be late for our date with Mickey! We walked out the door at 4:30, but oops, I “forgot” something so I went back in and set up my surprise.

We’d planned on taking a bus to the MK and then a monorail to the Contemporary. Here are the kids waiting at the bus stop. See? No time to even dry our hair.

After just a couple of minutes of waiting, I got antsy. I hate to be late, and I was concerned that we might be pushing it, so George got the car and we drove to the Contemporary instead. Ian sacked out in the car.

Random Disney Fact
Chef Mickey's is considered an outdoor restaraunt by the Florida licensing board because of the monorail opening. A CM told us this when we asked how they control birds in the restaraunt.

Chef Mickey’s was great! I’ve read mixed reviews about the food, but we all thought everything was very tasty. I don’t have many notes from this day, but for some reason Ian and I missed the first character to come to our table, Pluto!

021-1.jpg

Oh well, he came back later. Next to our table was Donald Duck. Look how stiff everyone looks.

They loosened up for Goofy!

025-1.jpg

Look at the look on that boy’s face. He was so excited to meet the Big Cheese.:goodvibes

Minnie Mouse was Amelia’s favorite character in 2005. This trip she was second favorite behind Tinkerbell.

Ian’s trying to make Mickey jealous.

Someone needs some practice napkin twirling so they don’t hit themselves in the eye.:rolleyes1

See? Pluto came back.

Chef Mickey’s was the perfect first Disney meal for our clan with good food and great character interaction.

Next post: our first park, what will it be? AND someone left surprises in our room!

SAB sounds PERFECT! I can tell already...this TR is going to make me revisit my THV versus BCV issue lol!

I  the Ian kissing Minnie on the nose pic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

looking forward to more

Hello there  Subbing in.

Yay for Chef Mickeys! We had several little birdies land on the carpet around our table during our trip last year. They weren't the bothersome kind, just cute and my DS3 loved to watch them.

Ha! I knew you would all want to swim first!! :cool1:

In the picture above, it looks like all the kids are either on you or leaning on you!! I'll check back again for the rest of the pics....

Photobucket was giving me trouble today, too. I uploaded pictures and they only came out in medium, not large like I wanted! :confused3

BTW... How do they control the birds at Chef Mickey's??

Kathy

:scared1: There are birds in Chef Mickey's!??! Blech Blech Blech!

I think you made the right choice to hit up the pool before dinner, everyone looks so happy and smiling at Chef Mickey's!

Glad you were able to set up the room presents without a hitch. :thumbsup2

I thought maybe once they saw that pool they would want to swim. Isn't SAB the bomb? We loved it!
Chef Mickey's looked like lots of fun and you got some great pictures! I can't wait to see how the kids reacted to their surprises.....

:scared1: There are birds in Chef Mickey's!??! Blech Blech Blech!

There are! My dd kept telling me that she saw a bird. Honestly, I thought she had imagined it but then my DH saw it too. I never even thought about the monorail opening. I am NOT a fan of birds either LL and I never saw a single one thankfully!

Great update Christine!! I love your Chef Mickey's pictures. It was a great meal for our gang too!

I was thinking that you would want to go to Epcot but then like you said you got voted out! Great pool though and lots of fun....they have games and stuff throughout the day too.
Isn't CM so much fun? Such a high energy place and I thought the food (breakfast) was good too.

Great Update. SAB sounds great. We too loved Chef Mickey's!! We thought the food was good and the atmosphere great.

Your surprise idea is genius. I can't wait to hear about the reaction from the kids.

What a darling picture! They are all great but this one is super sweet.

I cannot wait to take our three to SAB someday.... I remember loving it!

Interesting fact about the outdoor Chef Mickeys... we did see some birds flying around inside the Contemporary-- no worries people there were not many and they were not pesky!

Oh I just love the Beach Club:cloud9: Your report makes me want to go back right now! Can't wait to hear more!
