I called today to ask some questions about my reservations and the woman asked if I was planning on attending the MNSSHP while we're there. I wasn't planning on going, because I'm not sure my kids could stay up for it. They will be 3 & 4. She said it was wonderful and got me thinking... it is a lot of money to extend the hours of a day at the Magic Kingdom... Are you going? Is it worth the money? What makes it so special?

Yes totally, I went with 5 other people we got all together about 6 pounds of candy. In the parade they have wonderful floats, and they pass out candy at the end! You can go to dance areas, and dance with many characters. WORTH the money! :thumbsup2

I've been twice. Both times I would say were worth it, however, I didn't have 3 & 4 year olds. The great thing-most rides are walk ons, parades and fireworks are spectacular. We love it.

However, with a 3 & 4 year old I probably wouldn't spend the $$. They will probably be too tired unless they are able to stay up late???

Wait a few years and then go, you'll have a blast!

We were a group of adults and we all loved it. I think it depends on your chlifdren. The parade is darker than usual but the evnts like trick or treating was a blast for all ages imo.

If I were you I would go to the park in the morning take a big midday break and a nap at the hotel, get dressed up and go back at 4 for dinner and the party!

We went with our 4 year old two years ago - she absolutely loved it! It was worth every penny.

You will get a lot of positive response. It was not worth it for us. I think you really need to know your kids. Do they stay up late? Will they get tired and cranky? Do they scare easily? My kids found the music and fireworks very spooky (they were 5, 3 and 1 at the time). The parade was very good (probably disney's best parade) but again my kids found it scary. The grave diggers are great but with the makeup and the shovels they are creepy. Now if your kids don't scare easily and love staying up late then you will be fine. Truthfully the only things my kids liked was the candy. We couldn't even consider the villians show - too scary!

The Halloween party is well worth it For the Following reasons :
1. The "Boo to you Parade" is one of the Best Parades Disney Has .
2. The "Hallowishes" IS the Best Fireworks show youll Ever See .
3. You get to go Trick or Treating , Yes kids And "older kids " too LOL ,
4. Dont Miss the Villans Mix n Mingle Castle Show . And This is the ONLY time you Can Accually MEET the Villans.
5. There are several Party Exclusive Character interactions
I think This Party Very Much Worth it

What is MNSSHP?

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party - I'm going to get tickets tomorrow for my family - I think it's worth a shot! You only live once, right?!? Besides, my Disney Rewards Points should cover it! : )

Not to throw yet another doubt in the mix but I should mention that if the MNSSHP gets rained out you will not get your money back. That's the reason we wait until we are onsite or a few days before and know the forecast before we shell out the $$.

Just a tip...FWIW

They very rarely sell out and if they did would you really want to go anyway?

Ah ha! Good tip... We arrive on Monday and would want to go on Tuesday... Is this too close to wait - I could wait until just a few days before we leave... I would be so upset if they canceled it... how often does it sell out?

Same here for 2 reasons:
We want to go on our arrival date so just in case our flight is delayed, we're not taking the chance
And I remember in 2007 how AWFUL it was in terms of rain and I felt so bad for those attending the party... it was just dumping!

I think the Boo to You parade IS the best parade, it's wonderful but it's more adult imo.

Hallowishes is the best fireworks display as well, that's a picture of part of Hallowishes in my signature.

I like the trick-or-treating, to be able to say "trick or treat" and not get crazy stares as a 21 year is wonderful.

There are some characters that you will only see here.

Is it worth it? Yes. Is it worth it if your kids will have trouble staying up so late, no. But I think as long as you think you can stay up until 10PM, that is after Hallowishes at 9:30PM, you should be OK... it'll be worth it if you can comfortibly afford it.

Did it last year with kids. We all loved it. We will do it again this year. On the day of the party we do a hotel morning and go into the park late afternoon so they kids are not tired.
You could maybe get them to have a nap (if they still do) and head to the party .
We went on Sept 5 last year and the crowd level was very low. We did every ride multiple times and saw the parade twice(they loved it!) and got a ton of loot.
This year though I will do what another poster mentioned ,buy tickets the day of or the day before. Since we have done it already we will make sure the weather is forecasted for no rain before we buy tickets. I did book the Pirate league and a MK area restaurant with the plan of attending.

I went last year with my 4 y/o and while it was worth it at the time, we really didn't get to enjoy the full extent of the party. Even with a nap and a rest day that day, my dd was exhausted by 10pm and we had to leave.I am glad we went and it is the best party Disney offers, but will either wait till she is older or let her hang at a Kids Club that night

we went last year with our DD who was 2 then. she LOVED it! she stayed up the whole time we saw everyone in their costumes! it was great! I would do it again and again!

A few years ago it was worth. Over the past couple of years some of the highlights have been scaled back or discontinued, but the price continues to climb. After the cutbacks over the past couple of years, we could take it or leave it. We only do it now if traveling with friends or family members who want to do it. I no longer think it's worth the price. Maybe a few years ago when you actually got the free family photo, as that was a nice perk.

I took my 4 year old daughter in 2006 and she loved it. We did downtown disney and BBB that afternoon and then went to the party, she made it til park closing. She loved trick or treating and the parade. It was worth the money for us.

I think it is definitely worth the money. In my opinion, the Halloween parade was the best one I had ever seen! :yay:
