Are You planning a trip to Disneyland in December?

Since we upgraded our PHs to APs again this week we're a maybe for early Dec.!

We're visiting WDW for the 1st time in early Oct. (10 days away from home!) so we'll see if we can make a trip to DLR 2 months after that.

I do have the ent. rate & a kids suite (with the 20% AP discount) booked at HoJo's for 11/29-12/17! We wouldn't stay for that long ~ 2 or 3 maybe 4 nights ~ just don't know what nights we'd want. If it's just the 3 of us we'll stay in a ent. rate room, if grandparents or someone else joins us we'd stay in a kids suite.

We did visit DLR last Dec. and it was lovely! Our dates were 12/8-12/11, the 8th & 9th were the CM party nights and that was OK ~ we would've been fine with just 3 days but we stayed 4 because of the parties. We spent those evenings over in DCA.

We participated in the Holiday Tour ~ it was alright, we didn't have head sets, I think if we would have it would've been better. We had multiple ECV users (my Gma was one of them) the other groups that started when we did only had 1 ECV user each! The seats for the parade were great!


If we drive we'd go the 1st week of Dec. probably ~ if we fly it'll be the 2nd or 3rd week ~ airfare last year was expensive the week after Thanksgiving, much less expensive the 2nd week.

So those who are not local, are you flying or driving?
We have decided to drive, it will make the trip easier on my Father. It will also allow us to bring some food and sodas from home to have in the room.

I'm thinking of adding another day to our trip, but not sure. as I have the Disboard Diva trip just a couple of months after this and could put that money that trip.

How are you paying for the hotel stay? Did you pay all at once when you booked? Or are you paying a certain amount each payday?
I've been paying one night of the hotel each month.

Does everyone in your party have annual passes?
If not premium, have you planned for the black out days if there are any during your trip?

I will be renewing my premium annual pass in october. My DH will need to renew his in december. My mom's will still be good for the christmas trip but we will need to renew it before the Disboards GirL's Only Trip.
And since this is my Father's first trip to Disneyland I will need to look into getting him tickets for the time we are there.

I wonder if we can buy tickets at the Grand Californian Front Desk? I ask this because I read on the disboard where someone staying at the Grand bought blackout tickets at the front desk.
If anyone knows the answer to this i would appreciate it.

Hi Dawn! I am positive that you can buy your tickets at the desk of the hotel, but the pricing may be a bit more. Probably gate pricing, vs. what you could get online with print at home. Your trip sounds so nice. I hope to stay at the Grand one day, but with my little ones there is not enough time to enjoy it.

By the way, my dates are the 17th to the 22nd. EVen that sounds too short

I am dying to do the Christmas tour. There is a small chance we won't go, but I think we will, but I won't be able to book the tour until my husband is firm. Do they usually sell out?

Tracey! Hey I like you so much I had you down on the list twice! I updated your information.

It's a big thing for us to get to stay at the Grand.. my Father is not in good health and this will be his first and probably Only trip to Disneyland..so i needed to make sure he was as close as he could be to the hotel in case he needs to rest or starts feeling bad. It will be a laid back trip with just a few things each day and lots of resting.

He's so stubborn and won't use a wheelchair. So I'm planning one day to go to Disneyland and utilze the train to take us to certain places. Then also use the mainstreet vehicles to get to Fantasyland and Adventure land.

I need to make a list of what we want to do each day.

pixelyyy ... that's a smart way to save for a big holiday triP! On the 15th I'm going to pay for another night on our trip.

We are going for a 'mini-girls' trip Dec 18-20, and so excited..

however, I am new here and have a question about when to take children during December..Is it better to go the 1-2 weeks before C-mas or is it better to go the 2nd week in Jan.

We will be taking the kids out of school, we want them to 'feel the magic' of Christmas and be also able to do the majority of the rides

Last year we went to disneyland the middle of the first and second week of december it reallllllllly made our holiday special. I would recommend that time.

Courtney..You are such a Dollbaby! So sweet You have good trips to look forward to. Get to planning! Are you going to stay at the Menage again? We stayed there once and liked it!

Tracey... I don't know if the tour sells out.. I'm waiting til closer to book as I know my Dad won't want to walk the tour and probably not my DH so I want to pay for them to meet up at the end of the tour for the special seatting and hot chocolate. I'm sure it will be full price but oh well, it will be worth it.
