Can anyone tell me what the average cost for a beer and a mixed drink is on the cruise? I assume they are not included in the cruise price. Also, are the prices the same at coco cay?

What is Coco Cay? Are you thinking Castaway Cay? Or the Cove Cafe? Or some other island or cruise line?

A mixed drink is about $6.95 and there is a mandatory 15% tip added. A smoothie for the kids is about $3.95 and comes to just under $4.50 with the tip added. Don't know about beer. Prices are the same wherever they are ordered on DCL run property--ship or Castaway. There is usually a "drink of the day" special that is maybe $1 less. Sorry, don't know about beer.

DCL is also one of the only (if not the only) cruise line that will allow you to bring your own alcohol on board.

What is Coco Cay?

That is RCL's equivalent to Castaway Cay.


I can also add that a 12pack of domestic beer ordered thur room service is about $ 50.00.

We are going to order beer thru garden grocer to be delivered to the hotel we are staying at the night before the cruise. MUCH cheaper/

Depending on how you are getting to the port, you can save serious $. Most limo services allow a 15 minute stop at the place of your choice--grocery store, Wal-mart, etc. If you are driving, you can obviously stop somewhere. You can take your "supplies" as a rolling carry on--it just has to fit thru the x-ray machine.

They do deliver beer. You will not see it on the site, but put it in the comment box. I then called them a couple of days before the trip (everyone else on the boards say they will call you, but I didnt want to take a chance) to make sure they had my order. Then they charge your cc for the beer. Your online order will just show the other charges of what you ordered. If I remember right the price of the beer was about $3 more per 12 pack than our local grocery store, but about 2/3's of the price for beer at the resort!

For those on the Western Cruises, I have read many times that folks don't bring their beer on the ship as it's one more thing to carry but pick it up in Key West at CVS or a grocery store while there..

Just another thought for you.. I know that is what we will do for our case of water

Wow, that is a GREAT idea! Maybe I should plan on stocking up on bottled water at Key West (to take on our other excursions, we drink a LOT of water!)
