Miffed about Cancellation Refund for DLH

I just cancelled a reservation that I made only a couple of days ago at the DLH. They charged my credit card in full and it will take 1 - 2 billing cycles for the money to show back up. Thats up to 2 months! I had asked before when I made the reservation and nothing was mentioned about the amount of time for crediting the deposit amount back onto the card. My credit limit isn't very high on my Disney Visa anyway. I'm irritated right now.

Thanks for letting me vent!

It is very unlikely that it will actually take 2 billing cycles. They just tell you that to cover their tracks. It is standard procedure. When I cancelled, I think it took maybe about 10 days to get the refund, possibly 12.

I have never had to wait that long for a refund...and I've canceled and rebook quite a few times.
Generally my account has been credited within 7 business days

I too wanted to say that while it says 1-2 billing cycles, I actually received a refund that posted to my AMEX in 3 business days.

Whew! I checked my statement and hadn't even been charged yet so I'm not too worried about it now.

They probably did a "pre-auth" on the card to hold the funds, if the transaction is cancelled before the card is charged then they can release the hold on funds. That may have been what happened with your card. Or you will see the charge and then a few days a credit, that's how it's worked for my card in the past. :)

Every company that issues a refund tells you it can take up to two billiing cycles. This is nothing new.

Definitely.

And it really is specific to your bank/cc company! Working at amazon and banking with wamu, I saw any refunds I got come through inside of days (I didn't get special treatment working there, but I could see that the refund was complete on amazon's side, which is something normal people couldn't), and then I'd hear from people with different banks and it would take MUCH longer. They never wanted to believe that the delay was on their bank's or cc company's side, but it truly was.
