We cruise in just 3 months and I am ready to transfer our reservations to TA in order to get OBC. We have 2 cat 12 GTY for June 13, 7 day Western

thanks!

I used 1cheapcruise.com- they were great to work with and we got prepaid gratuities!

I would check the OBC from Dreams Unlimited. (See their ad at the top of the page.) Be sure to transfer your reservation BEFORE you make the final payment. After that - it's too late.

I think u better hurry:goodvibes .... the deadline for payment is fast approaching..... see you over on our dis meet thread!!!!!

Just a heads up... OBC's advertised for new bookings may not apply to transferred ressies. In fact some places won't accept transfers at all anymore (Costco doesn't) So be sure any TA's you contact understand you want to transfer an existing ressie when you request quotes.

Good Luck!

Check around, but there was at least one report on the board that DU didn't want a Cat 12 reservation transfer because the commission wouldn't be worth it to them.

Some TAs are not accepting transferred ressies (especially cat 12) because they no longer get the full commission on transferred ressies.

I'm going to suggest that maybe the question should be "who gives the best service? " rather than "who will give me the biggest OBC?" Yes, we all want the OBCs, but a good TA is a lot more than an OBC....especially in an emergency.

The questionable cat 12 was due to the kid's cruise free promo and I would expect it to be the same for the $99 bounceback offer.

My category transfer request with DU had nothing to do with kids sail free or bounceback promo. We don't even have kids sailing with us ( honeymoon).

If I understood the response from DU it had something to do with us getting such a great deal they could not offer the OBC. So my request to transfer was denied. I had trouble getting a response to my first two emails to DU. I would have been willing to transfer my ressie w/o the OBC to get a good TA. I sent an email back to the DU TA letting them know how dissappointed I was and that I couldn't understand not being offered the transfer w/o an OBC to gain a customer for future travel and to book extras for this trip ie airfare, car, hotel. I received no response. :confused3

We will be re-booking while onboard on our first cruise in Sept. If I understand correctly I can no longer transfer my ressie and will need to name a TA when booking. I would like to find a good one who will respond to my email and is good to work with. Someone on here mentioned Merrie w/ DU. I would still be willing to go w/ DU as I really appreciate their sponsorship of these boards. Merrie are you out there? :flower3:

Actually, I am just interested in OBC. I have already done all the leg work and crusied DCL many times. I am sure that some TAs are very helpful but for me, I just want some additional OBC. An extra spa treatment or two for DW :thumbsup2

Thanks!

I guess I'm just feeling the emotional parts of my recent booking experiences. I've cruised DCL 19 times. I've booked myself, used TAs, etc. I typically know exactly what I want, and it's just a matter of telling the TA who then books it.

Recently I was seduced by the OBCs and booked thru a TA, which resulted in a sub-optimal experience. Not terrible, but certainly not the best. The cruise itself was great.

I'm currently the "organizer" for a multi cabin cruise involving people from 5 unrelated families. That's not big enough to qualify as a "group" and be able to use DCL group services, but it's the biggest group I've been responsible for. We're using a really wonderful TA who has been great with the service aspects. She doesn't offer the highest OBC I've ever read about, but her service is worth the difference in this case.

Sorry if I offended in previous post.

I got a super great deal on a Cat12 in May that I booked directly with Disney. Dreams Unlimited Travel not only accepted my transfer and gave me their full OBC, but have so far been great to deal with. So to anyone who is still considering this, please contact them (or any other travel agent you decide you want to use) and verify this one way or the other. You might be surprised.

Not offended at all. Didn't mean to sound like I was upset. i appreciate your help. :thumbsup2

I'm also thinking of transfering over to Dreams, I have read great things on these boards about them, the only thing holding me back is they only talk to you by internet. How do I contact them if something should come up and I don't have internet access?

I haven't needed to use it, but there is a number they give you when you have a reservation with them.

I was going to reserve through dreams but another online travel agency is offering a double obc which would give me $200. I havent decided yet what I will do because I dont know too much about them but it is tempting!
