August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

Sorry, it's true. Other parents don't think it is appropriate for 17 year olds to act like 17 year olds in front of 13 year olds, so Disney made a change and we heard about it about five or six months ago when people started talking about this change on the main DCL board.

So she will be in the Lab? She was there last time I think and she was 8. I know she enjoyed herself then but not sure about now. Man, she was so happy knowing she'd be with her brother. Not sure when I'm going to tell her!!

Hey all!!! I know it's been a long time since I posted. Between grad school and work, I don't have a lot of free moments. But I found one tonight and wanted to tell you all that my disney BFF and I will be going on our first Western Caribbean cruise!! I cannot wait. But I'm a little unsure about what to do in the ports. What do you all suggest we should do for the ports of call? THanks for this! God bless and happy Mickey!!!

Okay want august to come really fast? We are expecting 10 to 14 inches of snow today? Should have a snow day tomorrow. Yipee, Kyle is so exceited about staying home. I know Matt was sick earlier (kyle had told me). I hope they are both better soon. Have to shovel again.

Welcome Mickeysgirl, whatever your real name may be:)

What to do in port? Look at the available excursions and choose what interests YOU! Also, look online for alternative activities or excursions you can do with an independent operator.

Advice for everybody flying - check your flights from time to time.
Looking today I discovered schedule changes for both my flights to and from Orlando. The schedule change on the outbound trip will require me to leave about three hours earlier; hopefully tomorrow they will be able to rebook me onto an earlier flight out of Seattle so we can get to Orlando before midnight.
The schedule change for the flight home means we'll need to spend the night somewhere - hopefully one more night in Florida.

The nice thing - because of the schedule changes I hope to be on flights I would have preferred, but were considerably more expensive. Hopefully I'll have the same luck for the trip back.

Everyones different in ports, we tend to just get off the ship for an hour or 2 then back onboard to enjoy the empty ship, you will have to look at the excursions see if anything interests you.
Only thing we might do is the fishing trip at Castaway Cay.

We have had about 5 schedule changes since we booked last October, Delta have got to be the worst airline for changes. Just glad we have Biz class for price of coach or I wold not be happy with all the changes. We only paid $665pp then they jumped upto $2,431pp:scared1: now back down to $1,737pp

I havent been on in awhile- hi everyone! :wave2: :wave2: I have been busy getting ready for the podcast cruise- but ours is right around the corner as well!
I would like to sign up for the FE exchange as well!
We are two adults, three teenagers and two kids-
The podcast cruise will be my first experience, and there are 97 CABINS signed up over there! We are doing one gift per cabin, with a few little things for the kids.

Matt is feeling better.
He went to the ped. on Thursday and he had a bad sinus infection. She gave him some meds. On Saturday, Matt told us his head was going to explode.

We took him to the hospital. He was running a temp of 104. He had blood work , Chest xrays, and a cat scan of his sinuses.

They admitted him. He had such a bad sinus infection that it was starting to erode the facial bones. He had to have strong meds to kill whatever caused it. The doctors were worried that the infection would spread to his bone/ brain and heart.( Matt had open heart surgery so illness and fever are always a concern)

He is feeling much better and came home this morning. He will be returning to school tomorrow.

Christi,
What a scary experience. I am glad he is feeling better. I am actually a CCU nurse. So I know about heart problems and infections. We only got about 5 inches of snow, but they still had a snow day, we have been sledding already. Does nothing but make me think about summer:boat:

Hey, I was a NICU nurse for 14 years, did transport team as well (UA/UV line placement, intubation) Went back to school for my masters and now have been a certified nurse midwife for 7 years. Although because of my NICU background the Drs I work with call me a Medwife LOL.

Any idea on how I sign up for FE exchange??

I have you down on list already

See my website, bottom link on left, on Cruise list your name has a FE next to it.
www.astersflorist.co.uk

Anyone wants adding or taking away from the list let me or Maria(Maza) know.

Into another month, can't believe March is here already.:goodvibes

Matt was born with 2 vsd and an absent right pulmonary aerty.
When Matt turned 4 his cardio told us he would need a heart/lung transplant.

The doctor yelled at me for not bringing him in enough.( MAtt started off going 1 a week, and then went to every 2 weeks, 1 month and then every 3 months.) I did what the doctor told me. We found another cardio fast.

After a year of consultation with cardio board, he decided to try and develop MAtt's right lung. It worked! and year later it was large enough to receive an aerty.

He has no resriction, but there is always a chance something could happen.

Hi all from cold and snowy NJ. Not sure exactly how much snow we got as the snow is so powdery its blowing all over the place. Kids got a snow day. DD went out and did some cross country skiing around the yard this morning and now is in the hot tub. What a life ;)

Christi......I am a firm believer that some classrooms harbor more germs than others. Went through that two years ago with my son. He was constantly getting sick.

I know those letters you are getting from the school regarding too many absences. Being home sick should not count towards those absences. My favorite was when DS got a concussion at school from an accident and missed several days because he was dizzy and I still got one of those "your child is missing too many days of school" letter.

I just ignore those letters completely.

I agree with the advice to check online and see if your flights have changed their departure times. We had that happen last year.

Regarding what to do for shore excursions......it all depends on what you like to do: shop; lay out on a beach; snorkel? Definitely check out what DCL is offering to get an idea of what you can do.

We booked a private snorkeling excursion for Cozumel and just this afternoon booked a deep sea fishing trip in Grand Cayman. Was thinking about Stingray City in Grand Cayman but decided on deep sea fishing as we've never done that before. We tried twice last cruise to do the fishing trip at Castaway Cay and both times it got cancelled.

We're not planning anything in Key West. Just relax onboard.

Yes, my DD will be pissed not being able to go to the Stack. I totally understand why DCL decided to split the age groups. She enjoyed Oceans Quest the last time we cruised on the Magic. And what is more important is the other kids in the clubs and not necessarily the location of the club.

.

Do you have a website link for the Deep sea fishing in GC? there will only be me and Mathew doing it, I Googled and all were for chartering a boat $800+
Will stick with doing it at Castaway Cay if I can't find anywhere else.
Thanks

:donald: Paid off our cruise last week!!!! :donald:
We got our tax refund & wanted to do something useful with it before we wasted it away on nonsense. We also changed our hotel plans for the week before our cruise. We originally had ressies at CSR, but couldn’t pass up the deal at the Universal hotels. (we already planned to spend half of our time at universal & seaworld) So for almost the same amount that we would spend at CSR w/ AAA, we upgraded to Royal Pacific!

Good for you, Donald! We have a few more payments to make through our travel agent...but we're getting close!

A question about Fish Extenders...I'd still like to do them (well consider anything we get an extra wedding gift! ;) but we dont actually have a little extender. I am NOT craft-inclined...what's the best way to get one? We're total novices at this stuff!

(Nurse) Midwife too. ..but havent practiced properly for about 6 years, since my last Delivery Suite rotation! Now head Nurse NICU...or rather Head Midwife ( still employed as a Midwife..makes me more useful!)...Or Madwife...coz you have to be!

1/2 day fishing trips up to 4 people - $500 for reef fishing and $600 for deep sea.

It is an early trip - 8:00am to noon. We have to be the first ones off the ship that day so no sleeping in. Tendering is such a pain.

Regarding the fish extenders.....I plan on buying one on Ebay. I just don't have the sewing skills.

Thanks for link, not too bad if 4 going but with just the 2 of us I think we will stick to Castaway Cay, Its $117pp but only about 2.5 hours.

For Fish extenders we are getting DMIL to make one for us but last cruise we did some just hung a bag outside or nothing at all, had to attach gifts to fish.
