The next day we skipped breakfast because we had an 11:30am ADR for lunch at Le Cellier.
We checked in and were a tiny bit early and they had not begun seating yet. We sat in the lobby and in a few minutes all the wait staff came out and sang their national anthem. The kids thought that was really neat. While we were waiting, we got to listen to the host tell person after person that there was no availability all day...in fact, he told one man there was none for the whole next week. However, another man walked in and I guess asked the right questions because after telling him there was no availability, he ended up finding him something. So, lesson learned...ask questions...and don't give up at a simple "no"...because it may be that you just didn't ask the correct question. We were the second ones seated in at a table in the center of the room. I do not ever recall (and I mean ever, not just this trip) being told which province we were in or any of that stuff. Our waiter was Steve and he was good. He did explain the breads, altough we did not need it.
I just love those little butter balls the serve with it. We asked for more pretzel bread right off the bat! No problem! the kids ordered their usual drinks and I had a Chocolate Raspberry shake.
It was a very good milk shake! Surprisingly enough, the kids, even Skye, don't do shakes often...I know, weird!
I am again going to go against the grain and say that I am not a fan of the Cheese Soup. I mean it is ok, and if I was somewhere where it was being serves, I would eat it...but it is not my choice of appetizer if I have a choice. And that is really odd for me because I am a creamy soup kinda gal...like the best part of a banquet type meal is the cream of chicken soup...I can eat all four of our family's bowls (because not one of them will eat it!). So anyway, I decided to try the Spicy Chicken and Chipolte Sausage and it comes with Roasted Corn Polenta and Sweet Onion Jam.
I think I wanted something different. Well, this was it. However, it was so incredibly hot that I could not finish it. It was painul it was so hot. And I generally like a kick so for me to say it was hot...it was hot. The polenta was extremely good though and was really good with the sauce. I think it also helped to calm down the heat of the sausage...but not much. I do not think I would order this again. If it was not so hot, it probably would have been a really good sausage but it was just too hot to enjoy.
I had the 10 ounce New York Strip Steak with potatoes.
It was very good steak...that's what you should go to Le Cellier for. Medium rare and tender with lots of flavor. We have yet to be disappointed.
The kids both had the pizza and fries.
They scarffed it down so it must have been good. But it was pizza...so what was not to like?
For dessert, the kids had the make-your-own sundaes again...
...and loved creating them again but the big hit and our favorite dessert here was the Smores.
I don't know who decided that this concoction constituted a smore but we are glad they did! It is pretty and tasty! We have to get this every time...usually along side a Mousse but since there was only one adult and we were on the dining plan, we had to make a choice and the smores won out! It is like a chocolate chip sort of cookie cake sort og thing with ice cream in it and a marshmallow on a stick with flavored syrups and sprinkles. What's not to like?!?!?!
While wehave been seated other places in the restaurant that have been a bit closer together we have never felt as on top of out neighbors as people alway talk about but being at a table in the middle we were even less close to the people around us...we definately did not feel crowded. Steve was good about keeping things moving and making sire we were happy...without being all over us.
We love Le Cellier. It is not someplace that we will die if we don't get into but we do always make ADRs for here. It is good food, we have never had a long wait to be seated, and while it is not discussed much here, even though it is names after a cellar, it is a pretty nice looking cellar. it really is a pretty place inside...almost castle like.
While I was a little disappointed in my appetizer, I knew going into it that I had not idea what I would receive so I chalked it up as experimentation and did not let my bad choice relflect on the whole meal.
Our total was $67.21 (or three meal credits) and we left a $13.00 tip. We wer there about an hour and a half. It is longer that we normally spent at a meal but it was not becasue we were waiting for anything...I think we made it that long...I think we were slowing down a little and getting a bit full overall. Not tired of eating but just a steady fullness.
We will definatly return!
