January Weather - cloths

Cruising the end of Jan09. Me, DH and Ds(7), Ds(6). I am starting to pack and am not sure if we need warm cloths.

I assume daytime is warm enough for shorts and swim suits. What is the temp at night? Would the kids be ok in shorts and maybe a sweatshirt or should I pack jeans.

I understand the pirate night party is outside on the deck. That night the kids have costumes (long pant & shirt). But during the other nights do you spend a lot of time outside? and is it cold?

We just got back from a 4 night Wonder cruise this week. Temps were great, more than warm enough all day for pools, beach, ocean. At night I didn't even need a jacket either walking around on deck. Maybe if I had been out longer on deck, like watching a night movie at the Goofy pool, I'd have worn a jacket, but for just walking around I was fine. But January is very hit or miss (a cold front came in right after our cruise was over) so you must check the weather before your trip for your personal situation. I did bring a jacket just in case.

We've done several trips in February. Most were great (warm and sunny), but on 2 of them it was seriously cold. I spent a small fortune on one trip buying some warm clothing for my daughter.

So...we always take one outfit that would be suitable for 40s-50s. You'll definitely want a sweater or jacket for being on deck in the evenings, but I do one warm outfit in addition to that.

DH and I have cruised 5 times in late January. We usually bring a light jacket/sweatshirt/sweater in have in case we need at night on deck. The weather sometimes is breezier than other times. The water at CC is usually cool.

But just like any other trips you never can figure out what Mother Nature is going to do. :goodvibes Take some jackets or sweatshirts just in case.

we are in cocoa beach right now, and are sailing on the wonder tomorrow. we had to wear sweatshirts all day today! it's still better than the temps we left at home in ny! some of the locals said it is supposed to be warmer in the coming days, so i hope that is the case!

I hope so too. But anything will be better than the chicago weather we have been having wind chills -20 to -30 ...

yep! same temps left in NY!! i guess our local airport had a new record low of -19 with wind chills last nite when we left! brrrr....gotta say i'd rather be here with temps in the 60s!

Just got off the Magic yesterday. Once we left Grand Cayman on Tuesday, the weather was cold the rest of the week. We were fortunate at CC on Friday. We saw sun, the first time since Tuesday. The morning temp was 66 degrees and got as high as 75 degrees in the afternoon. The shops sold a lot of sweatshirts this week. Of course, we felt the effects of the extreme cold weather in the US this week.
