January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Good morning Snowbirds! I just won my ebay auction! Woo hoo!:yay: It was for Disney's Greatest Hits Vol. 1 & 2! I won it for $7.50! It doesn't come in the original packaging, but I don't mind. They're for my DD and we lose cd cases all the time. I can't believe that 2 weeks from now, I'll be riding the monorail to the MK!

Good Morning boys and girls!!:wizard: AAAHHHH only one more Monday for me!!! Meghan~Congrats on the ebay win! That's always exciting-you are gonna love those cds!! Well,-it's really cold for us this morning!! Around 37-ish right now and there is icy frost on the ground and roofs!!!! We are only gonna get to about 54 or so today-all week will be the same, so we will be glad to get to some warmer weather! Just a bit wamer tho---around 70-ish for me, please!! If it's not super cold,I know my kids are REALLY gonna want to get into that Volcano pool:banana:

Has anyone heard from our returning Snowbirds how the Extra Magic Hours are working with the tickets? Are we really having to pull them out for each ride? Are kids being able to keep up with their tickets? This is a big thing for me--I am gonna have to figure out what to do. I really need some info about this!!! I will let them keep their tickets in a lanyard or something if it's really secure-but geez---I need to be mentally prepared,ha!!!!!:thumbsup2

Mornin' Birdies!
:goodvibes So I feel like the worst mother in the world today!:guilty: DD7 told me this morning that her tummy hurt and she wasn't feeling well. I encouraged her to eat her breakfast anyway and told her that because she was going to miss 2 weeks of school for our trip, she wasn't allowed to stay home today. Well, on the way to school IN THE CAR, she says Mommy my tummy really hurts I think I am going to throw up! AND SHE DID! IN THE CAR! :scared1: so gross! Poor kid! she is in the tub right now blowing bubbles! I had to cancel all my daycare kids for the day and now I have to go clean the vomit out of the car before it freezes! mmmmm frozen puke! :scared: Hope everyone else is having a better day than I am! ;)

Yes, I'm not going to get too concerned about the weather until we are closer. Those 15 and even 10 day forecasts are never right and they always change. Now if we get within a few days of leaving and it is calling for highs in the 50's, then I will start to panic! :scared1:

You know, it's just one of those things. Even though this will be our third January trip in a row and we kind of have an idea of what to expect with the weather, you just have to look. It's like those things that have a “NSFW”, "disturbing" or "not for the squeamish" warning, you still have to take a peek.;)

By the way...

We are finally doing the SINGLE DIGIT DANCE!!!!!!!:woohoo:

Oh I know, I look everyday. I'm not sure why. I know it's going to change, and not just once but probably several times! :rotfl:

Congrats on single digits!! :cool1: :woohoo: :yay:

Kim-I'm so sorry your DD is sick. Better to me sick at home then sick as Disney though. As for vomit, I'm with Shawna. I can't clean it up! That is a job for my DH as well. I hope that your DD feels better soon!

I don't do well with vomit either but I don't have a choice right now! DH is at work on the other side of town! :headache: I am putting it off as long as possible! The car windows are open right nowand I am hoping that takes care of some of the odor! Oh well, at least I know what my day will look like now! This will be me :laundy: and she will be curled up on the couch with her sicky bucket watching :ewok: :chewy: :darth: :yoda: ! It was the first thing she said after she finished puking! "Mommy, can I stay home and watch Star Wars?" :rotfl: She is currently STILL in the tub, singing away and blowing bubbles! What a kid! :)

Thanks Meghan! Yes, nobody is allowed to be sick past this Thursday! NOT ALLOWED !!!!!! :thumbsup2

Good morning Snowbirds! :cool1: :cool1:

ONE WEEK from today we will be arriving at beautiful Shades of Green! Woo hoo! :woohoo: Not sure yet what our plan will be for the afternoon and evening. We were going to head to MK and see Spectromagic, but since we're using 5-day passes now instead of 7-day, we won't be doing that. IF it's warm enough we'll try Blizzard Beach. Of course DS10's definition of "warm enough" for a water park is about 50F...for me, more like 80F!

Are any other snowbirds driving down like us? We're leaving on the 22nd and will arrive in WDW on the 23rd. I'm thinking I may even stick a LGMH on our van just to keep in the spirit of things.

We are! :wave2: :drive: We're in northern VA, so a tiny bit farther for us. We're leaving Sunday morning and stopping for the night in GA, and plan to be at WDW early Monday afternoon. I like the idea of a LGMH for the van! :thumbsup2 However, that would require 'fessing up to my DH about the DIS. He knows I've been planning for the trip, but I don't think he realizes how deep into it I've gotten! Of course, I'll have to tell him anyway, when I tell him that the next item on our agenda is to go to a Snowbird meet!

This will be me :laundy: and she will be curled up on the couch with her sicky bucket watching :ewok: :chewy: :darth: :yoda: ! It was the first thing she said after she finished puking! Oh Kimberly, I hope your DD feels better soon! :flower3: Surely Star Wars will help! Ugh, we had stomach illness here last week...I cleaned up enough vomit for the whole year. Last night at dinner I reminded everyone that we are going to be extra-vigilant about hand washing this week, so no one is sick at WDW!

Also, for those of you who printed off your t-shirt designs from the DISigners, I need help. I don't want to sound like a moron, but how do you get the actual design? I see the DISigners posting the requested DISigns on their threads, but how do you then get them print to your transfer paper? Is it as simple as a cut/paste type thing?
TIA.
Half of us are driving! DH and DD5 and SIL are driving down, stopping in NC to pick up MIL and meeting Me and DD7 at the resort. We will have some magnets on our van (at least when we are closer to FL).
I printed out designs. And yes, it is that simple. You go to the design you want, whether it's generic or custom made for you, and right click on it. Save as to your computer and voila! I am not skilled at editing, so we used generic or asked one of the DISigners to put our name on one and then all I had to do was save and print. Just make sure whether it needs to be reversed image or not, we wasted a few sheets on that!

Oh man, that's horrible! I'm home today with a sick kid too. DD5 had a fever late yesterday and this a.m. she was up at 3 for more Motrin. It's fairly low, and hopefully that's all it is (No vomiting - knock wood!) but she's parked on the couch. I think she's fighting a cold too - better now than in two weeks!!! I'm feeling a bit off today too, but I think it's more worry than anything else. I always feel a little sick when my kids are sick. That and being tired! I'll take the other couch!
Has anyone ever noticed their kids getting a fever when their permanent teeth are coming in? DD5 has three loose teeth, and when she was teething as a baby she used to get a mild fever a lot. DD7 never did. I was just wondering...

I'm another snowbird that is driving...of course its only a 7 hour drive for me since I live in the Panhandle...but I'm driving!!!!!!!!!

Hope Paige feels better soon Sheree! Hope you stay healthy too! :goodvibes

My DD7 got a very mild (hardly anything) fever when she was getting a couple of her adult teeth last fall! She suffered terribly with her baby teeth poor thing, fevers, nasty diapers and now all she gets is a wee fever and a wee headache! :confused3

Yes, my oldest son does. He has a loose tooth now, toward the back and he's been feeling bad off & on. I think it messes with your sinuses.

I sure hope all the little Snowbirdies are feeling better in time for their trips! :goodvibes

I have been making the kids wash their hands so much they are getting sick of me! As soon as they get off the school bus they say - yeah yeah we know - go wash our hands! :rotfl:

Now my dd has gotten the sinus junk!! Well, hopefully it'll be out of there systems by then-we have all had our turn for winter!! Except dh, he hardly ever gets anything!!!

Oh my... so many little sick birdies....hope they are all feeling better soon

Well we made difficult decision in our house this morning.... DD had some problems with her room mate during the first semester at college. Brittany - the roommate - had her boyfriend spend every night in the room.... even after numerous conversations with my DD and the RA she still would have him.... DD has decided to move to a different room.... the problem is that Brittany and her family are neighbors... the girls have been friends for years.... but they went to school and Brittany went wild... drinking and the boy thing... her grades were so bad she lost her scholarship... DD on the other hand did great (3.2 GA) which we thought was wonderful considering the circumstances.... so now we have to go and move her on Wednesday to the new room.... then she is going to tell Brittany.... such a sad situation....

That's a bad situation for your DD to be in. I'm sure it is going to be hard for her, but she has to do what is best for herself. Good luck!
