Hiya!

Welcome to the food and drink lovers open thread ... more likely than not you followed the link from my most recent food porn review and in that case welcome my friends!!! :grouphug:

If you happened to click on the thread out of curiosity, that's perfectly OK. Why not stick around a bit and see what happens? We're a harmless bunch ... really.

There are some really funny people who hang out in the restaurant forum and it's my hope that they'll find their way here.

This is place for all those folks who wanted to share food and drink recipes and non-Disney food porn on my review threads ... this way everyone can share what they'd like and hopefully we'll have as much fun here as we have on the restaurant boards but we won't have to worry about bendy-ing ... :laughing:

Once someone posts a recipe or review here, I'll come back and link to it in this first post so that it will be easy for people to find.

Ummmm, I guess that's about it.

Here's a simple but tasty drink recipe to get things started ...

Midnight Martini

Ingredients:

1 shot vodka (we like Cirroc for this recipe)
1 shot Kahlua
1 shot Grand Marnier

Pour over ice in a martini shaker and give it a few good shakes ... about 30 seconds and then strain into a chilled martini glass.

Hope we can keep the holiday chatter and good cheer going well into the new year! :goodvibes

PS. I also plan to use this as a gathering point for any of us who will be visitng the Mouse this fall. I'll have a separate post for that in case we want to get a DIS-meet together then. :thumbsup2

Woohoo! Loving this idea

I'm currently making Ohana's Bread Pudding with a few modifications. As I am sadly lacking the yummy pineapple bread that Ohana uses I decided that stale croissants from earlier this week will work perfectly!

Its baking in the oven at this moment & I'll post pics of it (as well as my Christmas Eve Yummies) later tonight.

This is a great place for foodies, history buffs and literature freaks to meet & chat :thumbsup2

Haven't read any of your other threads, but I clicked on this thread because I've been known to belly up to the bar now and then.

And hey, I just got some cute martini glasses for Christmas so I'll have to start getting creative instead of always drinking champagne, wine, or cuba libres!

DH and I have also resolved to cook more. DH loves to cook, and I love to eat, and we're always looking for healthy, delicious recipes. So thanks for your welcoming post!

Yay... I'm in!!! I'll have to upload some food pictures of the Melting Pot. We went there for dh's birthday and dd11 took pictures. But today I'm a little slow as it was my birthday yesterday and I had about 5 martinis, 2 butterscotch snapps & one X Fusion drink... Here's the recipe for X fusion:

1 Part X-rated Fusion Liqueur
1 part Crown Royal
Splash Apple pucker
Splash Cranberry Juice
Splash Pineapple
Squeeze of Fresh Lime wedge
Garnish with a cherry

X Fusion is a pink vodka. Very yummy if you like sweet drinks.

I just clicked on the thread out of curiosity (great title), but I am loving the recipies so far!! I have some yummy food pics from Disneyland Paris to share if anyone is interested. I have heard about the Melting Pot from Girls of the Playboy Mansion (or Girls next door as it is called in the USA), I wish we had them over here.

That's our melting pot adventure. Feel free to come read it if you'd like ... there are even pictures!

Just popping in for a minute while the laundry runs and the bathrooms clean themselves ...

I've got our New Year's Eve dinner all set ... it's just Jay and me and the wii. :lmao:

We're having the following:

Lobster Mac 'n' Cheese
Spinach Salad
Fresh Bread
Leftover cheesie goodness from Christmas (pictures coming soon)
Chocolate Champagne Truffles
Rosa Regale

Yummmmmmmmmm!

And then the New Year's Day brunch we'd planned to get Jay's parents over here has been pushed back to January 3rd ... but will have even more goodies:

Crabbie Eggs Benedict
Croissants
Asparagoose Bundles
Fresh Fruit w/Amaretto Cream Cheese Sauce
Sticky Bun Bread Pudding
Brandy Milk Punch
Freshly ground / brewed coffee

Once this meal is over it's fat-burn city for Jay and me for the next few months ... :rotfl2:

We are having prime rib New Years Day...I have never cooked prime rib so if anyone can help me out...please give me a holler. I guess I am a prime rib virgin of sorts :hippie:

I really must see if we can find some Rosa Regale as you have mentioned you like it before. We love Conundrum and the only place we have seen it available is at WDW (we asked at Disneyland and they didn't have it which I thought odd as it is a Californian wine, we even asked in Napa Rose) or we found it on the room service menu at the Bellagio (it wasn't on any of the wine lists in the restaurants we looked at.) The only way we have had it in England was when we got a case imported or we found a few bottles in Harrods.

For New Years Eve I think we will be having our usual chilled Vervue Cliquot champagne which is my favourite. I think I'll look for strawberries too!!

I bought Rosa Regale for new years Eve too. :goodvibes

we'll be having shrimp with cocktail sauce, filets with a blue cheese/ mushroom sauce ; caesar salad and a chocolate fondue. Looking forward to hearing everyone else's menus.

We're doing a NY Eve of Prime Rib, Spinach Salad and Champagne, followed by Bailey's Irish Cream cheesecake. NY Day will be the traditional Blackeyed Peas and Cabbage and instead of a pork roast I'm doing a boneless leg of lamb on the grill!
