We will fly southwest 10:55am from Buffalo airport. So we plan to drive (from Toronto) the day prior to our flight.

Any hotel suggestion (clean & new preferred) ~ near the airport? I don't need park n fly since I will park at airport anyways. Thanks!

We stayed at the Days Inn right accross the street from the airport in January!! It was clean, and had nice rooms, good cont breakfast. Not a bad pool eithier!! Hope that helps!

I just booked the Quality Inn Buffalo Airport on priceline. I'm hoping it's great too.

I got it for $80.00 but with taxes, etc it will be $99.13 US.

We stayed at the Best Western. No Pool, not new, but cheap. I think we payed $65 US last Dec. Continental breakfast, was pretty good, and probably cheaper park and fly than at the airport.

We stayedat the Sleep Inn. Nothing fancy, but it included parking and a ride to the airport and back to the hotel when we returned. Staff were fantastic there too.

My Dh just stayed at Days Inn across the street and I Hotwired it for him for $69. We have stayed at quite a few hotels around the airport but most recently stayed at the Hampton Inn and it was the nicest we have stayed at. It is not right across the street but no more than 5 minutes and it includes hot breakfast, has a pool and beautiful rooms.

Have you thought of leaving your place at 6:30 and driving directly to the airport?

Border crossing & traffic will be light at that time of day.

How far is your drive to Buffalo? If your flight is not until 10.55a.m you would not need to be at the airport until 9-9.30a.m.
This past summer our flight was at noon we left just north of Toronto at 7.00a.m and arrived at the airport before 10a.m. And that was after being rerouted because the skyway was closed:scared1:
(Customs took us all of 5 minutes)
I would personally save the money and leave in the morning.

When our flight does leave early in the a.m we stay at the holiday in express across the street. Clean, newer and includes breakfast.:)

Thank you for the responses.

We live in Richmond Hill - possibly 2.5 hour drive to Buffalo if I take 407ETR + QEW. DW doesn't want to take risk (especially traffic & weather in winter).

Oh yes, I wanted to ask - will border wait-time be very bad at weekends? We have another trip (BUF -> MCO) on Jan 5 (Mon), and again thinking if we should stay at hotel the night before - but Jan 4 (Sun) is the last day of holiday after the new year weekend. What would you suggest to do?

That's where we always stay when we fly out of Buffalo! They have a decent breakfast in the morning, too. There's no pool, right? We've honestly never stayed long enough at any one time to go looking for stuff!

Our last stay we stayed at The Sleep Inn (September 2008). I will not stay there again. If we were not with my inlaws I would have complained and switched hotels. The room we had was musty and had huge cob webs hanging from the ceiling. We were on the first floor, and the ceilings were high. I didn't compain because I just thought I got what I paid for. A cheap and dirty room. We also got the park and fly deal. They made my husband park the car on an off site lot with about another 6 cars. The lot was a gravel area off to the side of an old business. There was nothing around and it wasn't fenced in or nothing. My husband had to be picked up by the hotel shuttle and he asked if it was safe to leave the van. We had my inlaws Ford Freestar, so he left it anyway. He didn't think anyone would bother trying to steel it.;) We also had to wait 1 hour at the airport for the return shuttle to the hotel to pick up our van. The hotel was running only one shuttle and the driver was very rude. We had to load our own luggage and unload it ourselves.

Other hotels we have stayed at : The Homewood Suites. I love this hotel. Clean and the shuttle will drive you anywhere including the mall. We have stayed there 3 times.

The Hampton Inn. Very nice and clean. Would stay there again.

Millennium -Okay Some rooms are nicer than others.

We have stayed at the quality inn across from the airport twice and found it to be clean and reasonable this trip however we have decieded to stay at the millenium has anyone got any info on it?:surfweb:

The last time we were there they were in the process of updating the rooms and converting smoking to non smoking but we were in one of the converted rooms and it still smelled of smoke. There are different rooms at different price levels there so be specific with what you ask for. I believe they also offer breakfast packages and if you have time to shop you can walk to the Galleria Mall.
