First-run movies on the ships are ONLY Disney movies, right?

There are no exceptions, right?

I'm just trying to see if there is any possible way I can see the new Twilight movie during the week we're on board. It comes out the day we fly down to Orlando for our 11/22 cruise. I don't want to wait a week until I see it. I'm getting desperate!

Yes, Disney releases only. The only exception was on the Transatlantic sailings when they did show some older (released several months before) non-Disney releases. On the regular 3-, 4- and 7-day sailings, however, they only show Disney company films. You won't be able to see Twilight on board until many months from now when it may be one of the films shown on the stateroom TVs.

Hello Twilight fan! I am soo looking forward to this movie. I'm re-reading the series .... well actually hearing them...as first time I read the books, this time I am doing audiobooks.

Well, if ANYTHING is worth missing this movie for...it would be a Disney Cruise...

Smiles,

Holly

Yes, it's only Disney movies but remember Disney has a huge vault. We were on the 7 night Eastern. We never say the old time anumation classics. We saw Snow Dogs, High School Musical 2 and stuff like that. Something interesting to know is that if a new Disney movie is coming out it will also premier the same day on board the ship.

It's only Disney or disney distrubuted movies that are shown first run. Unfortantly Twilight is being distubuted by Summit and therefore will not be shown. It may be show months down the line on stateroom movie channels.

I am so excited to see Twilight too!!! but it's coming out friday Nov 21st... so is there not someway you can see it before you board on the 22? There is a movie theater close to the port - http://www.movietickets.com/house_detail.asp?house_id=8749
you could see it at 11:30am on the 22? ok I may be stretching this for you. goodluck!

I thought there were some exceptions, like the Harry Potter movies?:confused3

The first run are Disney movies, but on longer cruises that have shown other recent films, I have seen James bond in the Med, and Ironman Indiana Jones and many other films on the special cruises.

Can anyone post the phone number to call to find out which movies will be showing?

I thought I vaguely remembered seeing a Harry Potter movie first-run on one of my past cruises, but I was unsure. I'm pretty much willing to stoop to any lengths to see this before I embark, though!

My flight doesn't leave until a little past 9 on the night of the 21st, so I'm thinking about trying to squeeze in the 4:30 showing at my local theater. It'll be tight, but Twilight is well worth it. ;)

Thanks for all of your prompt responses!

First runs would be from Disney, Buena Vista, Miramax, Hollywood, Pixar (actually not sure if Miramax is still associated with Disney).

Can't wait to see Twilight.....read the first two in the series over a weekend....waiting for the third to come in paperback for my collection!!

We're on the same cruise. Have you posted on the Traveling Turkeys thread?

I'm also a fan of Twilight and was hoping they'd have it on the ship. I just finished New Moon and have Eclipse on hold at the library.

We also had a HP movie on one of our 7 day cruises but it was after it had been released on DVD.

Just remember that these non-Disney movies are shown months after they are released in theaters. They are not new, first-run films. Iron Man and Indiana Jones were released in the US in May and played on the Eastbound repo in August. Disney never shows first-run films that are not from the Disney company. This includes the Harry Potter movies which have been shown on the stateroom TVs many, many months after their theatrical releases.

The Harry Potter movies have been shown on the stateroom TVs but not first-run in the theater.

The HP movie was shown in the regular movie theater on our cruise in 2003 or 2004.

I just recently got turned on to the Twilight Saga and have read the first two books in the past week. I'm so bummed to miss the movie, but we will be driving to Port Canaveral that day for our cruise. (Shout out to the Traveling Turkeys!) The Twilight books are the best I've ever read. I'm ashamed to be 36 years old and so into Edward! :lovestruc
