DH and I live pretty close to Disney (close as in 30-40 minutes or so) but we are looking for a weekend away (Saturday-Monday morning) I thought maybe we would check into a value resort (we have FL AP passes) and get away that way.

Well I just looked and the only thing Disney's site is offeriing me is GF at like 2 grand lol. Is there something going on there this weekend? I know Monday is Columbus day, but are all of the resorts really booked up? Or can you just not book this close to check in?

We may end up just heading to the coast, but wanted to try here first.

Holidays have a way of filling resorts for the weekend. Add food and wine and MNSSHP and people will come.

When we first booked back in May, we wanted the GF, but it was sold out for this weekend, so we went with the Poly. Last week we decided to book another night. I know the Poly still had rooms and so did the Coronodo Springs Resort - that's where we wound up booking.
Have Fun!

We were at one of the parks last weekend and hard hardly any crowds (Epcot, road Soarin twice, Test Track twice-- didn't even get off of it, Mission Space and a few other things in 2 1/2 hours) so I just didn't imagine the resorts would be booked solid. Not only could we probably not get an AP discount, but it looks like we won't even get a room lol

Guess it is off to the beach for us.

I was told once before that you can't book online at the last minute. To do that you have to call in.

It is a 4 day weekend for a lot of kids and I believe free dining was offered for either earlier this week or next week. We had a trip booked but had to cancel because of other obligations. Maybe that is why.

Stink.... I just called. Got a SUPER nice guy, talking to me about how I just lived up the road yada yada, very nice. Said he would do a "dummy reservation" to see if there was anything open. Notta.... his exact words actually lol.

I was hoping they would have one little room in one of the values, but nothing. Oh well, at least I got a nice CM :) Guess we are off to either Cocoa or Clearwater for the weekend.

We were thinking of a quick trip over too, but onsite looks all sold out (except for some $$$ suites), and even the Swan & Dolphin is full.

DH doesn't usually like offsite, but on their website Dreams has the Gaylord Palms Resort @ $109 per night with an upgrade to Atrium view, and I've always wanted to stay there sometime, so I'll have to see just what DH thinks of that :cutie:

You can go to www.sidestep.com and try to find a hotel. After you put in your dates and have the initial search results come up, refine the search with Walt Disney World Resorts. (on the left hand side of the screen)

Good Luck!!! I hope that you are able to have a wonderful weekend in Disney!!! :wizard:

I think it is a combination of Columbus Day and F&W. Things open way up on Monday.

Jersey Week? :confused3 I am not in New Jersey but in our school district the kids have Friday and the following Mon off this weekend.

I wouldn't want to stay in just any hotel, we would only stay in a Disney hotel, because we live so close to Disney (literally 20 miles) so we would only even be staying in a hotel to get away fully in Disney (and we can only do that staying in a Disney hotel since we live so close)

Too bad, but its not too big of a deal since we can just do it some other weekend, just thought this weekend would be fun.

Aside from everything else already mentioned Iam attending a conference on site that is going to be something close to 6000 people at the Swan and Dolphin. The conference begins on Sunday so a lot of us are getting in on Saturday.

We were at the Polynesian a few years ago the week Columbus Day fell on. We could not upgrade to a MK view because the resort was full. Monday afternoon we were finally able to move. So to answer your question, Columbus Day weekend does bring in the crowds. Maybe call and keep calling and there will be some last minute cancelations.

It could be because of Food & Wine. About 2 weeks before my trip last October, I tried to extend my trip by 1 night (at POFQ), and almost everything at WDW was full. I even looked at switching to a value, but they were full, too.
