Well, I have a bit of time to write before my sister and I meet up to knock off a couple of liquor stores so we can pay for a DVC membership. Teasing of course, but
did you see how gorgeous those villas at the new Contemporary Resort building are? Wow.
In other Disney news, today was supposedly the last day for us to order our Photopass pictures. I broke down and bought a couple of them. It just seemed like a shame to have them all go poof at midnight tonight. Besides, it will be fun to have the memories. Now, back to the trip report.

Magic Kingdom Pt. II
Where was I?
Oh yes, it was Saturday and my sister and I were just swept into the Magic Kingdom in a wave of humans after watching the morning welcome show. It was fun to have the Main Street CMs wave us in with their giant Mickey hands.
I last saw hands like these when I was in college and a guy from my dorm decided it would be funny to throw a match into an empty bottle of Everclear. He returned from the infirmary with both hands wrapped in gauze. It doesnt seem like a very Disneyfied memory, but they really did look a lot like Mickey hands.
After we walked down Main Street we headed to our first ride, Space Mountain! It wasnt as scary as I remembered it being, but it was a fun way to start off our day at the Magic Kingdom. I didnt notice the chocolate chip cookie asteroids this time, but the blast off sequence brought back a lot of memories!
After Space Mountain, we sauntered over to Fantasyland, took a peek at the castle mosaics, and visited many of the favorites from our childhood.
By the time we got to its a small world it was 10:15 and we had already ridden Space Mountain and seen much of Fantasyland. I felt like the touring plan itinerary was working really well for us! The only ride that had much of a wait was Peter Pans Flight, and even that was less than the 20 minutes posted on the sign.
Heres a video clip of the its a small world clock marking the time.
My sister and I are huge
Mary Blair fans, so it's a small world was especially entertaining. I think I enjoyed it even more than my sister, which is a bit of a role reversal from our last trip, when I made her pay me with some of her souvenir money to ride it. I know that was bratty, but give me a break, I was 15!

Then we walked on to Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain. Both rides were great fun! Haunted Mansion was one of my favorites of the entire trip. I thought this tribute to imagineer Marc Davis was sweet.
The rain that had been forecast for our trip showed up just before we got on Splash, which gave us a good excuse to wear ponchos. I certainly didnt want to get soaked and have to walk around in wet underwear. Yuck.
After Splash we grabbed fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and decided to get some lunch. Columbia Harbour House was near-ish so we settled on that. It was pretty steamy out, but for some reason the clam chowder sounded good to me. I think my sister got chicken fingers. We grabbed a table upstairs with a view of the Liberty Belle and enjoyed our meal.
After a restful repast, we went to the restroom. I would ordinarily leave out a vulgar detail like that, but theres a wacky story to tell. As we were, um, powdering our noses, a woman came in with her son and entered one of the stalls. She then said, You pull down your pants, Ill get things ready, and then well sing. Yes, sing. She and her son sang a few stanzas of My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean and other jaunty tunes. It was so bizarre. Its probably a story that is only funny to the people who were there, but it still makes me snicker. Im sure my sister and I will be holding impromptu tinkle tune sing-a-longs for years to come.
And on that sophomoric note, I shall say good night. There will be
more MK very soon!
*When I typed this I had a big DUH moment and had to make a slight modification to the name of my trip report. You see, it had been 21 years since we had been there. Yikes, Im old!
