How did you find the DIS Camping Forum?

I cannot remember how I found the forum. Heck, I can't remember why I can't remember how I found the forum but all is good.

Actually, I use to be a member, board member actually, of another forum for ATV riding. A bunch of us from the forum would meet every year and ride in different places. It got bigger and better every year. Then politics took over and I bowed out. Found this forum and good times again.

I actually have been on the boards since I moved down here from Alabama in 1997 but under a different name. (don't start guys) However, I didn't start trouble by getting another name, I bowed out for a while because I lost interest and forgot my password. Instead of going and getting another one, I just added a 92 to my name and the rest is history. I got tired of the scariness of the community board, which is what I was introduced to many years ago by a neighbor of mine. (she shows up every once in a while and threatens to tell stories on me, the one with edna in her avitar) We had just purchased a pop up and I was trying to get my DH to have the same enthusiasm about the Fort that I always did, so I got into the boards on the camping side. It was a lot quieter before last year, but I am sure glad it is the way it is now. Less stuffy and know it all-ness is the way to go for me.

I found the DIS a few years ago when I was researching for a trip to WDW. This year we decided to go camping at Disney and so naturally I came on here to get advice! I've gotten lots of tips and entertainment while reading on here. Thanks to all of you for that!

I had googled something for our Disney trip and the Disboards came up first so that's how I found it. I spent many months reading other sections of the boards and then found out about the campfire and sing along. Some one pointed me to the camping forum and I lurked for awhile before posting because I know nothing about camping. I soon realized that that doesn't really matter - the people here are just REAL and even though most love Disney (except Gatordad ) it doesn't consume the conversations as it does on some other sections - which is fine by me. I'm just taking my kids to Disney - I'm not a fanatic about it.

I found the Disboards (believe it or not) while trying to find pics of golf carts in Nov. 07. Some how I managed to get to the Dis thru the pics.
I lurked for a couple of weeks, really liked what I read from the disers,,very friendly and lots of humor and occassionally helpful answering questions. After a couple weeks I told Denise about the Disboards. And we lurked together for a while longer.
After our Fort trip in Jan 08 we signed up and TA-DA here we are !

I stumbled upon the disboards because of the camping board. I was looking for information on Ft. Wilderness because my husband briefly considered camping at Disney. Still hasn't done it, but keep on talkin' it up... at least he's now camping locally with the family. I have not camped at the Fort since 1982 (I was 4) so it's not because I camp at the Fort that I keep coming back. I'm a camper! You'll never find a better group than campers - that's what keeps me coming back. Y'all are a hoot!

I was a pretty active member at the Passporter Boards (best guidebook to Disney available, IMHO) and kept seeing links to threads on the Dis. I would read what was referenced but never really explored any further for fear of being sucked into yet another life-stealing vortex! So I was aware of the Dis for a while, but just a few weeks ago I followed a link relating to my favorite Disney subject (Fort Wilderness) and discovered the Dis had a Camping thread! I plunged headlong into the vortex (and frankly, I haven't even been back to the PP Boards since). I am amazed at the variety of threads and the level of activity here. I'm hooked.

don't get too comfortable. Once the vortex wears off, you will find we are boring like the frog that would sing in the cartoon, but never in front of anyone else.

He drove me crazy. Come look at this pic, come look at this, it's funny. He said let's join, I said whatever, I won't do that. Well in less than a week I was hooked. I learn something new everyday, LMAO and hopefully give a little help now and again.

Well, Jim(my DH) found the site when we were planning on bringing the camper down to the fort for a trip. He finds forums for EVERYTHING. I had belonged to a different forum for WDW, but I like this one MUCH better. Anyway, I kind of hijacked his account(otherwise, I would have a much more "magical" name) and lurked for a while. But the craziness that insues around here, and the "bond" that we share hooked me and I started posting. Now I can't stop, I have been told I need an intervention. I feel like I "know" all these people here, even though I haven't been lucky enough to make a gathering. In fact, now DH has started posting and I made him get a new account. Ya snooze ya loose, right? He should have started posting while he had the chance.
