You look great! How long did your new hairstyle take? Looks like you have a lot of patience.:goodvibes

 hmmmmm I wonder how they would look in LIMEGREEN?????

:thumbsup2

That is so cool - I never knew how that was done!

Way to go!

Thanks! Yes funny how they start our soooo skinny! But as my hair grows, they'll "PLUMP" out, and you won't see my scalp anymore.

It only took them about 40mins to twist it. All together it was about 2 hours for them to cut and shampoo.

Now . . . my brother may stop by today. I didnt tell him . . .. OH GOD HERE HE COMESSSS!!!! We're gonna end up on Dr. Phil!!!!!

Dreadz!! I can't wait to see it grow in. If I can ask-What made you decide to do it? Religious? or just the look.

That picture with your mom is priceless. The look on her face! I love it.

Thank you for sharing the process- it looks great on you Glenda and you would look great with any hair with that fantastic smile!

Dear Glenda

My darling you look so cute!

I just love the look on your mothers face!

Love Kate

P.S. You need to call me STAT!

it looks really good. I like it. I can't wait to see it in person. 3 more weeks. :woohoo:

also check your mail today or tomorrow.

OK DISers! My brother looked at me and said "WHAT DID YOU DO"? Then he goes . . . "WHY"? So now the circle is complete. I've devastated them both!

As he was leaving, FOUR of my neighbors came outside:
 :scared: :headache: :scared1:
But then they smiled! They think I'm brave! :snooty:

Awww . . . thank you! I need all the encouragement I can get!!!
NO, it is NOT for religious reasons. I THINK only Rastafarians do that for religous reasons - and their's are not started in a "salon". It's more free-form. I'm only doing it for the style. I'm a Christian. Yes, tomorrow I'll be making my debut at Church . . .

Thanks . . . Looking for your # . . . IT's NOT in my phone! Will PM my # to you!

That is so cool. Now you have to post monthly pics so we can see the whole process as it grows!:thumbsup2

oh my gosh....girl you have some strength i tell you. how you made it through without crying? looks good though and can't wait to see it grow out some more. i love that the hair dresser warned you about cutting all your hair off and then went ahead and did it!

love your mom's reaction. my mom would definitely stop speaking to me.

Wow, I never knew how people got dreads started. I hope you'll post some picture updates so we can see how it's coming along.

My DD's young, but I think they would look good on her when she gets older. She's got kinky curly hair and it's so hard to manage.

I'm really gonna try. While doing my research, I found TONS of "Loc Journals" on Youtube and Fotki. They really helped to give me an idea of what I would look like, and what to expect. Here's My Favorite Clip! Hopefully, I'll look like her! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MP5UGV0W-s

I think it is so cool! Why were they upset? The cutting off of the hair, the locs, or what? I have no clue! LOL

I didn't know that was the way they started out and then plump. That is so cool and only makes sense.

I like how they look now also. I would want to touch them! So, if some white lady asks dumb questions about them and wants to touch them, you should let her, LOL!

How much does something like that cost?
And the poster above ir right; you are so pretty that it doesn't matter what style you choose!

Yes, it's gonna be a TRIP in Disney next month. My Mother will not want to be seen with me! I was soooo proud that I didnt cry! The hairstylist said that many people have sat in there and cried!!!!

Seeing this girl's video clip REALLY helped me decide to take the plunge!

There'a a book called Nice Dreds that I JUST got from the library on Tuesday. In it, I THINK there's a section for doing kids' hair. BUT! Since I heard that the "ugly" stage is pretty rough, she may wanna wait. (Heck, I may wanna wait! HA!)

Well DISers, one of my friends is going to stop by soon, so I'm gonna hop off of here and get ready to devastate her too. So far, here's the list of people's day I ruined:

1. Mother
2. Brother

HA!!!! Well, then there's tomorrow at church!!!!!

1. They are upset cuz untill they grow in, I'm gonna look a HOT MESS!!! They're not gonna look neat like they do today, about 3 weeks from now. AND it's uncombed hair. Most people I know don't like it. Especially since they think you can't wash it, and it'll stink!

2. If ANYBODY wants to touch them or ask questions, fine. I'm still learning too. If it wanst for "Google Search", I wouldn't know HALF the stuff that I do! As for touching it . . . I still havent really touched it yet myself :ssst: . . .

3. It costs $85. Wash, cut, twist.

OK DISers!!!! I gottta get off of here! I still havent been out yet!!! See how important you all are too me! I've spent my morning uploading the pics so you can know! Not even my boyfriend knows yet!!!! That'll happen tomorrow! Stay tuned . . .

I think that you look fabulous. I am completely in luv with the natural look. Even though I get a relaxer about every 6 months, my daughter is and will continue to stay and be natural (well, as long as I can help it - def until after 16 years old).

The young lady did a good job and when it grows out (which it will really fast) it will be even better. :thumbsup2

Does it hurt???

Laugh if you must, but if I wear a ponytail too tight I start to get a headache. :rotfl:

See, I'm one of those people that didn't think you could wash dreads. Guess it's my sheltered upbringing. :rolleyes1

I'm impressed........knowing what you want and going for it.

Her hair looks great, I hope yours turns out just like it. :thumbsup2

I'm wondering that too, they so tight, it looks like they must be pulling on your scalp. :confused3
