Where do you store your RV?

Trying to figure out what most people do with their pop ups, trailers, rv's etc, when they aren't using them. Where do you keep yours? Can a pop up be stored outside? Does it need a special cover or anything? Thanks for your help!

we keep ours at an rv/boat storage facility that is fully inclosed and hurricane proof, we live in FL. Our community doesn't allow rv/boat storage at your home, heck, they get mad if we have it on the driveway or side street for more then 24 hours!

We live in the country (USA ) in TN..
Our TT sat in our drive til we had a pole barn built to house it a cuople years ago.
Yes you can leave it sit outside,,but if it were me , I'd put a cover over it when not in use. I have seen folk around here sometimes have just a roof/awning put up to park under.
Our neighbors have a LARGE toy hauler,,they leave it sit outside in the drive,,but they are the kind of folk who put a lot into the up keep of their rig,,which is important to the roof if it's always outside.

Although we just moved and had to sell this, we had a 20'x50' aluminum carport built in our back yard. It had 10' legs which made it 13' tall in the center. It was awesome to just back the TT under there and be done. Keeps the black streaks down quite a bit and keeps the roof in the shade constantly.

As soon as we get our house built, we'll get another one of these as soon as possible.

I can't keep it outside at my house, but I may be able to store it at a friend's house. Could I just cover it with a tarp? She's out in the country and it would be behind/next to her horse barn so hopefully it wouldn't be an eyesore for anyone!

I store mine in my parents back yard behind a wooden fence, but I do have a custom cover for it. Keeps it dry and clean. I also have a battery cutoff switch so that parasitic stuff doesn't drain down the battery.

If you can't plug in your camper while it's being stored, either take the battery out, or install a cutoff switch. There are things in most campers that will drain your battery down even if nothing is on. (Propane alarm, Fantastic Fan reverse switch, etc.)

We are very lucky and are not on deed restrictions. We reinforced one half of our driveway (by force) and our RV sits right in the driveway. It is very nice.

We can have ours in the driveway for 48 hours before the calls start. We keep our motorhome in an enclosed storage facility. I must say, after 2 years, it still looks brand new. The sun is extremely harsh in South Texas ( as in Florida) and the covered enclosed storage really helps.

I would not use the cheap blue tarps. I would at least purchase a car cover. There are also standard sized popup covers that are relatively inexpensive.

We have no deed restrictions or overly stupid city ordinances where I live and with my oversized (1/3 ac) lot I keep my 5th wheel at home. No cover or anything like that though.

My pop-up is lovingly cared for in an unfinished portion of our basement/garage. Being a popup, we can manhandle it in and out manually (my DS 15 and 13 are big helps there). So being indoors, I don't have to winterize it, it doesn't fade or get ants/wasps/bees in it, and it is ready to go whenever night temps are above freezing (nearly year round camping).

Seriously, I see lots of TT, 5'ers, and pups stored outdoors all crooked, unloved, and fading in the UV rays. If you cover it outdoors at least get a breathable cover. So indoors is best, outdoors with a cover comes next, and nekkid (an Auburn spelling for our Barn friends out there) outside is a far last choice.

Our camper is 3.5 years old and this summer we camped our 100th night in it. It still looks pretty new, no musty smell, and it's got a bike rack that can carrry anything to the Fort.

Oh, and a spare tire cover of Walking-Stick-Mickey-At-Fort-Wilderness.

I agree, ours is covered when not in use for long periods of time and is WELL worth the investment. We have it professionally waxed at least twice a year and we do the touch ups ourselves. It is well worth it.

We keep ours in the back yard, the drive way, the side of the house. It really depends on how long before we use it again as to where I put it but it is always on property with us.

We live on 5 acres and are able to store it right here at home. We don't cover it in the winter and have never had a problem. We use it for a day trip once a month during the off season to exercise the engine/generator.

We talked to our dealer about it and they said it's a preference thing. You do have to be careful though if you do cover it not to get one that will trap the moisture in.

A couple of years before we retired from career #1, we bought property in a community designed for Motor Homer's. At our previous home in Bradenton, we would get "nasty-grams" from the HOA whenever we brought our MH to the house to load or unload. Mind you...it was only there maybe 6-8 hours, and our HOA allowed for 24 hours, but we had some real butt-heads running the HOA. So....we are now much closer to Disney & can keep the MH right outside the door. Here's a picture....

That is SO cool! I'll have to keep that in mind for when we retire and upgrade! I guess I don't need such a fancy structure for my little pop-up!!

I grew up on a farm which a couple of my brothers now own ... 20 miles from my house. They are nice enough to let me store our pop-up for free in a machine shed amongst the tractors. It has a cement floor but is somewhat open. I just keep it covered with a tarp to keep off excess dust/dirt.

Yeah Debbies place is really neat. We were down in 2000 visiting my wife's parents and drove through the place (before Deb and Rick bought there) and were really taken with it. I couldn't wait to tell her about it. She had seen the place a couple of weeks before I did and they were already thinking about buying there! Great minds think alike.
