The What's For Dinner Thread - July '08(recipe index in OP)

Thank you for the "magical" wishes!
Would you believe I'm still doing laundry & I get picked up in 3 hours for the airport:rotfl:
I have to admit I have so major guilt about leaving my Mom & the entire back situation but I think I need to get some pep back in my step.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I will be toasting you with the first martini tonight!
Maria

Don't you dare feel guilty....okay well a little is fine. I am Irish and Catholic.....so guilt is my middle name ;), but keep it short. Maria, your Mom is going to be fine, you will not be gone that long and frankly, with the stress you have been under you need a little respite. You will be better able to cope with all of this after some rest. Have fun!

Have fun on your vacations! I leave for Mexico in less than a month now. :yay:

I'm thinking hot dogs on the grill and oven fries for dinner.

Here are photos from last night. Tandoori-style chicken:

No cooking for me today! It's Alan's company summer party. We're all getting into our local theme park for the day, and dinner is provided. It won't be gourmet, just hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken with potato salad and baked beans. It will be filling, though. And I won't have to cook it. We're leaving in about 10 minutes, so have a great day everyone!

Have good trips and I'll be thinking about you guys!!!

Hi! Dinner plans have changed. I happened upon the DIS Dinner Club thread on the Community Board and I am making some recipes from there. The Paprika-Parmesan Chicken and Snickers salad for dessert...

Yeah, I could resist the snicker recipe...:rolleyes1

Change in plans for me. Worked late and decided I wanted Chinese instead. Getting Shrimp LoMein and Spring rolls. And as dessert I may make some cream cheese jalapeno's.

I saw that thread and I got an awesome idea from the OP there on linking the recipes to the index, got it set up on the only recipe we have on this thread so far.:thumbsup2

If y'all like it, I may go back to the last thread and (time permitting) link those too!

I'm missing Wendie, anyone seen her around?

Here's a link to the Dinner Club thread if anyone's interested:

Great idea Kat!!! Can you tell me how to like a particular post? Whenever I link it only links to the page.

If its not easy to explain, don't worry about it.

Go to the post you want to link and click on the post #(top right corner), it will bring it up on a page all by itself. Then copy that url.:goodvibes

Nancy, I have a different problem with my plants this year...the deer are eating everything down to the root!

Caili would gladly sacrifice anything she planted if it meant she could have deer in her backyard.

I'm a little late, but Lori and Maria, I hope you have great trips!

It's been a busy day...baseball camp, skating and then more baseball. Liam's team won tonight, and he had a really nice hit into the outfield. It seems like baseball camp is teaching him something. :thumbsup2

Dinner was mutter paneer, naan and rice. I probably won't get on here until late tomorrow because it is another busy day. We are just going to have sandwiches for dinner.

Dinner tomorrow night is going to be from the Whole Foods food bar. I am going to meet my sis to get my DN's there. Bringing them here for a busy weekend. I am going to take them to a neighborhood pool that has a mini waterpark, then to my company picnic in the evening on Saturday. We'll play putt putt and they will have a moonbounce, pony rides and other things to do at it. On Sunday we are going to the County Fair, I'm hoping for Kettle Corn and homemade pie. :cloud9:

The Baltimore Ravens Band is performing at the fair on Sunday and I know two of the ladies that do the flags. They are performing at the same time as the Pie Eating Contest. I suddenly really want some homemade chocolate cream pie! :rotfl:

Good Morning!

Kat, Thanks for the tutorial!!! :thumbsup2

Laura, I'll think of Caili every time the deer come and eat my plants and won't feel so bad now...:goodvibes We've had some bear sightings too...Fun, Fun! It sounds like you are going to need a vacation after the summer...glad the kids are having fun.

Merle, Your weekend sounds like alot of fun! Enjoy!

I think tonight will be the spaghetti, meatballs and salad that I never made the other night.

Have a great day!

Photos from last night's dinner. I was rushing so they are not too good today. John's burger:

The yellow stuff is a tomato from my deck garden. I have gotten exactly five tomatoes so far, and that's one of them!

My sandwich, same toppings, but chicken instead of beef:

I also made some french fries:

Tonight I am planning some kind of grilled fish. John and I both have the day off today, so I am looking forward to a lazy and relaxing day.

Looks good to me, Becky! Nothing like a home grown tomato...enjoy your day off. Are you making some cocktails?

WFD - Take-out night!!

Have fun, sounds like a great weekend!:goodvibes

Especially if I get the PIE!!!! :cloud9: :rotfl:

I would make one myself but I have never made a homemade pie crust before. When I was little my grandmother would give us a little of the leftovers and a jar lid to make our own.

WFD--not sure of the name, or who posted it--but it was from our original thread. Some sort of mexican casserole with ground beef and doritos. I know it's something the kids will eat!:thumbsup2
