Ideas for the PodCast Cruise

Is anyone else kinda nervous about meeting everyone? Don't get me wrong, I am very excited. Its just all this talk about specific events has me thinking more and more.

No, I am really excited. I've had the pleasure of meeting Ursula, MommyC , WildOscar and I am sure a few others in addition to the Podcast crew. And let me not forget, the fabulous Tracy, the greatest TA the DU has!

I am really looking forward to meeting the rest of you and hanging out together for a few days.

I'm not nervous about meeting people -- but I am a bit self-conscious about what people will think when they meet me as I know we all kind of get this idea of what someone looks like in our heads...but then they are totally different in person. I was finally brave enough to post a photo a few days ago...of course, it was taken over 20 years ago...LOL.

that's so true - about getting an idea in our heads about people..
like when you first speak with people on the phone and then meet them in person...usually not at all what you imagined...

but no matter, i know we're all going to have a great time...

though my hair is a bit different now, but that's basically the way i look....

and you can see DH, DD, and DS (though they're probably not going to be on the cruise - just my mom and sister)..

This isn’t really an activity but on the W.I.S.H. boards there was a thread just before the Minnie Marathon weekend where people could post their pictures so everyone know what everyone looked like. Once we get to January or so maybe there should be a thread where we put our real first names and a picture of ourselves so at least there is some face recognition.

Of course this would be voluntary.

I didn't say I was afraid of you guys........doesn't mean Im not, I just didn't say it.
I guess I have to remember that I will not be the only one meeting all these people for the first time.

I'm assuming that there will be coordinated meet and greets for all of the DIS boarders on the cruise? I know our group is so large that this will be difficult to coordinate.

Not activities, but things I've been thinking about...
It would be great if DU sent (or distributed) all of us some sort of tag/lanyard designation that we could wear throughout the cruise to identify ourselves to our fellow podcast cruisers. I saw it mentioned somewhere else - but I had totally thought of it too - it would be really cool to have magnet signs or something to put on our stateroom doors (if we wanted to of course) to designate ourselves as podcast cruisers.

An activity idea would be an informal schedule of suggested group activities, i.e., XXX night in XXX bar at XXX p.m., adult cruisers should plan to meet up with other podcast cruisers. There could be one of these per day. They wouldn't require any hosting or coordinating, just a distribution of the proposed schedule so we could all connect if we wanted to.

Personally, I'd love a tour of that suite - but that seems a little pushy and invasive.

I was thinking this too. When we do parrothead "phlockings" you get a lanyard tag with the event logo, name, and nickname (or DIS name) on the front and on the back is what the scheduled events are, bands, etc. It's usually just laminated paper, not too costly. And a great souvie. We have all our parrothead ones on one lanyard each and can flip through where we've been. Kinda like a portable scrapbook!

We've met people at WDW before from the boards, and after a starter "awkward" stage have had a great time with them. Heck, we met Kevin mid-rant and I wouldn't have traded that for anything! It made my Christmas trip!

I for one will be ready to meet everyone by the time this thing rolls around! I love getting to know everyone's personality! I just hope I don't disappoint. When I sit here and type I can delete the dorky stuff before posting.....not always the case when you meet me in person.

Okay--- no plans of cruising for us but----


*Random calls to those of us left behind and maybe a prize (does not have to be pricey...maybe a postcard).
*Sing-alongs.... could be interesting with the bar tour group
*Decorate some fish extenders
*Talent show (keep it clean people)

i was just looking at your times for the half marathon and 5K....wow....you're good...
i was thinking of doing the full marathon - mainly because a good friend of mine says it's so totally cool to run through all 4 parks....but i won't be able to run it...just walk (the pace isn't too demanding...you're required to finish in 7 hours).....

i doubt i'll be able to make it to 2009, but i've registered just in case...

i was thinking of doing the full marathon - mainly because a good friend of mine says it's so totally cool to run through all 4 parks....but i won't be able to run it...just walk (the pace isn't too demanding...you're required to finish in 7 hours).....

we can mutiny for just one itsy bitsy little change...
instead of a day at sea, a second day at castaway cay...

just coming back to edit my post- i didn't know about the WISH board...i just went to check it out....cool!!!
