$3.94 for gas....

Gas prices have gone up 3 times this week...again...and now it's at $3.94. When will it end? Anyone hear of a bubble bursting any time soon? This is ridiculous and really hurting us.

 Unfotunately I seriously believe it will get to $5.00/gallon before years end. At this rate, it will probably be cheaper for me to go back to Horse and buggy. How much can feed cost anyway? :sad2:

DH just filled up the other night $3.87 - 4 1/2 gallons $16!! Gas WILL continue to raise. Once we hit the $4 mark, we will never see $3 gas again. By 2010 gas prices will be $10 a gallon. DH wants to get a bike and ride it to work. We live right across the street from the base so it would work. He would just have to leave earlier. Of course he would have to start keeping tabs on the weather. If they are calling for rain, he would drive to work, but if not, he would ride the bike to work and back home.

Can you say windfall profit tax for the oil companies?

Considering how much the state, local and federal government gets per gallon of gas, if the oil companies get a windfall profit tax, the governments need to cut their taxes on gas as well. Some places those taxes are almost 60 cents a gallon! :scared:

3.88 last night where we are (central Massachusetts). I have not seen $4 yet but I know it is coming. :scared1:

I wish I knew what the answer was....Id get rich quick!! :rotfl:

I do know that everything is only going to keep going up. My DH is a trucker and at $4.89 a gallon to fill up, with no end it sight, its only going to get worse. All of Americas goods are moved by either planes, ships, or trucks...and they all run on diesel fuel. Trucking companies (if they are still in buisness) have to pass on some of the cost, which then is passed on to us, a cycle that we are seeing and feeling right now. I dont know what the answer is, part of me hopes this kicks inventors into high gear for a solution. Part of me wouldnt be suprised if alot of alternatives could have been being used for years, but were squashed by Oil and Car companies. I have to hope a public outcry for change, may finally open some doors for inventors who have been finding a way out of the fuel trap. I dont mind hurting for a while, if it would mean better things in the long run. Thats just me though.

I saw 4.09 on my way home last night. Glad I filled up at 3.999 (I guess I am glad :( not really).

My dh said yesterday that we are going to see 8 bucks before too long. I said at that rate we won't afford to be able to go to work - either of us as we both have a long commute and no public transportation near us.

Keep your chins up everyone - we are all in the same boat!

I have no doubt that there are better, cheaper, more envoronmentally friendly alternatives out there, that have already been inveted even. So long as the oil companies have the power that they do and so long as people refuse to change their ways we will be paying more at the pump, to heat our homes and in anything else we choose to buy (passing that cost onto the seller). I know I have been and will continue to be more conscious about planning any outings that require a vehicle. My husband said he wanted to get a motorcycle to save on gas to and from work (thiough I hear not all are very good on mpg) and I poo pooed the idea. Let's just say I am beginning to reconsider and do some research...

$4.19/gallon hear in Toledo, OH! Make it stop, PLEASE! It's very scary, in MHO, for those who were barely making it to begin with, now they really aren't making it. I've started walking whenever I can. I walk to the gym and even walked to the vets office last week.

During the summer months here in Pennsylvania (beginning of May to end of August) I ride my bike to work nearly every day, rain or shine. It is about 3 miles door-to-door. It really isn't bad, especially once you get into the routine of doing it. It becomes the norm.

Last summer, I went from April 22 to July 6 without getting gas in my car because I rode my bike almost everywhere. We also drove my wife's car sometimes, so that skews my stat slightly, but it is still great riding a bike to work.

My DH just got a Yamaha scooter, 49 CC and it gets 100 MPG. Only goes 40 MPH, but who cares! He uses that to commute to work now, wish I could!

They say if we start pumping oil from alaska, there is enough oil to last us 30 years and gas would be around 2.00 a gallon.
All they are doing is making the American go broke. This will definitely put our March vacation on hold. I was pricing out air to mexico at over 600.00, I am not going to pay that.
Food is higher, natural gas to heat our house, everything is high, its got to end. We can't even have Schwans come to the house anymore, because they charge a fuel surcharge. I am fed up.

They say this do they?

1. So what happens in 30 years when you kids are our age?
2. Gas as it comes OUT of the ground in Alaska does not go directly in your car. One of the reasons gas is high is that there is a shortage of refining capactiy to meet the demand to turn the stuff out of the ground into fuel for engines!
3. Why would anyone sell it to us at $2.00 a gallon when China/India and others will pay more?

i just want to say this  :headache: :scared: :guilty: :sad2:    as I head to the toilet because these gas prices make me sick thats all

I hadn't filled up in 3 weeks (I ~obviously~ do not drive all too far + good gas mileage) and paid 4.26. I could not believe it!

DH drives a Geo Metro as his commuter car. It gets 50 mpg, and I read an article where they are selling on eBay for between 3000 and 7000 dollars. I checked it out, and its true.

Maybe we should sell it? It was only 12,000 when bought new in 1996.

Who would have thought the return rate on a 12 year old car could be this good?

You hit the nail on the head with that one.
