The Mouse For Less website has discount codes for various transportation services. We used Sun Ray last year. They were terrific.

So do most of you that fly to WDW use Mears for transportation to and from the airport? Are there any other options besides taxis? Just curious.

We used Sun ray Transportion last year and they were great. Using them again in May.

we are using Murray Hill Transportation, they seem to be competitive with the other companies and are pretty friendly so far, they also offer a free booster seat or car seat, stop at the gate to take a picture for you and offer a grocery stop for free!

is who we've used the last 2 times we went to SOG. I'll prob. use them again this time unless the boards show me a better, still reliable deal!

In the new section it appears that there are a handful of balconies that don't have the green iron railings. Instead they are obstructed by the large stone facade structures (see the center of the photo). You must have been in one of those rooms - they all seem to be on the third floor. Perhaps some of the balconies below are obstructed, too. But not to the extent that those third-floor rooms are.

I think there's probably only two rooms with the stone facade blocking the view. Both on the 3rd floor of the new building (one on each bend). The room underneath on the 2nd floor has a little bit hanging down blocking the sun. The rooms on either side seem to be ok. Here's pics of the far one, and the one closer to the lobby.

Has anybody left their bags with SOG after they checked out on the last day?

We have late flights so my plan is to check out of the hotel, have them keep my bags, go to the park, come back later, collect bags and then go to the airport....

You should be able to have bell services hold your luggage until it's time to go to the airport (they'll give you a claim check when they collect your bags).

Are there any of the SOG faithful out there that are also AAA members? I considered joining for our trip next year, but it seems like a lot of money to join at one time. Does AAA enable any discounts on top of our military discounts for the hotel and tickets? Is there any advantage to joining?

I happen to be both part of the SoG Faithful and a AAA member.

Like one of the follow-up posters said, just having the card alone for emergency road services is well-worth the annual fee.

If you also check-out your local AAA website at www.aaa.com, you'll find loads of additional discounts/deals for both the traveler and non-traveler.

As SoG is owned/operated by Army MWR (not Disney), you cannot combine any other discounts (other than what SoG, themselves, are offering).

Requesting connecting rooms has been discussed here a while back, I think (maybe on another SOG thread). Some said they had difficulty getting their request fulfilled. I wonder if anyone has any idea how many pairs of connecting rooms there are at SOG. Are they in the new section, old section or both? If you have stayed there, do you remember having a connecting door to the room nextdoor, whether or not you used it?

Both times I have requested connecting rooms, it has been honored. Both times were in the old section, facing the magnolia pool (and wishes at night!)

I have stayed at SOG 6 times, 4 in the old section and 2 in the new section, and I have always had a connecting door in my room.

I have a question! If I check in with my sponsor, do they need to buy my park tickets? Or can I do it if I dont have a military ID? Because my sponsors are planning on buying their tickets the day ofter we check in but I want to go to a park the day we get there, anyone know? Thanksss in Advance, 31 days! :)

you can pay for them yourself, but your sponsor will have to be there when you get them. you must present an ID in order to get them for the price that SoG offers them at.

also, you cannot check in to the hotel without the sponsor being there.

That is right. You have to show military ID to purchase tickets and to check in.

That's what I was thinking also. I don't remember not having that extra door in my room.

We did in '98 and we spent the early afternoon at DTD at the movies before we came back and met our town car at around 4. Our bags were there ready to go when we asked for them.

Bell services will hold them for you. I have been told by them that it is okay to leave my extra bags while we go on a 3 night cruise, so a few hours shouldn't be a problem. His exact words were: You can leave them up to 3 months.

He's my new best friend even though I'm not sure of his name.:rotfl:

Yes, we checked out and left our bags with bell services the weekend before last.

When I first saw that "wall" on our balcony, my first thought was "wow, if all the rooms have this wall, I wonder why I hadn't read anything about it on the SoG thread on the Dis!". When we went out to the pond, we saw the layout and laughed that of all rooms on that side, we got the one with the wall! Our room was pretty close to the lobby - guess no one wanted it. Like I said earlier, we would have asked to change rooms if we would have been there longer than just the weekend.

Still craving that Alpine chicken wrap from Evergreen's!

Is the sleeper sofa in the standard rooms a single or a double?
