The Disney blues ... I'm not the only one, right?

First, I'd like to say a big THANK YOU to the Disboards and everyone who posts on them. I feel that everyone here "gets" me and the Disney thing ... the same way that I "get" you and your Disney thing.

DH and I took DD and DS to WDW for four days in mid-February. DH and I hadn't been to WDW since we were children (in the late 70s) and it was DD and DS's first time. It was wonderful, just as I knew it would be. It was one of the best family vacations that we ever took.

Well, on our last full day we went back to the Magic Kingdom (none of us can get enough of that place!). As we left the MK later that afternoon (we took the ferry/boat back), I turn to tell the kids something and both of them are in tears. DD (who is 9) was just crying but DS (who is 6) was sobbing. I immediately knew why they were crying and I felt a lump form in my throat. I glace back and I see that the Castle is getting smaller and smaller. :guilty:  DH and I start hugging the kids saying, "We're going to come back next year! We promise!"

So, a few days later it's back to work and school. I'm driving to work and I hear a song that we heard several times on our way down to WDW (we drove from Connecticut to Florida). Immediately I think of our trip and tears come to my eyes. I hurriedly brush them away. Later that morning, I'm bringing the mail down to the mail box and as I'm walking down the dimly lit hall, it reminds me of waiting in line/walking onto Pirates of the Carribbean (and every other attraction). I start feeling the tears again.

I'm not the only one who feels weepy and sad a few weeks after a WDW visit, right?

Ha! Ha! No, in fact I have to stay away from disboards when we do not have a trip coming up. I think we are going to have to have a yearly pilgrimage to WDW so we are not too sad about it either. We had such a hard time after our honeymoon that we bought annual passes and have had a hard time not doing that every year.

Im the same exact way! I can only come to the disboards when I have an actual trip planned, otherwise I just get REALLY depressed.

There is nothing better than walking into Magic Kingdom and seeing the castle for the first time that trip and NOTHING worse than leaving for the last time that trip.

My DW and I are heading to WDW for 6 days on 4/28. We haven't been back since 1997... and this time we are taking our DD(5). I found this thread interesting because DW and I were sitting on the couch last night watching TV (actually, I had the laptop out and was cruising the DISboards :rolleyes1 ). She turned to me and asked what I was doing... I showed her DIS... and she asks "You aren't going to be one of those people that get all depressed after we come back, are you?" :rotfl:

I really don't know what is going to happen to me after this trip. I am getting so excited for my DD since this is her first visit... I find myself getting emotional just thinking about how she is going to react when she sees the castle for the first time! I'll have to remember to follow up with this thread after our visit. only 12 days left!

I am in the same boat. I went WDW in 98 with DH for part of our honeymoon. Those 3 days flew by and I was not ready to leave. We finally went back feb 08 with kids in tow because DH promised me on our honeymoon we would go back in 10 years. We have been nowhere else in those 10 years either! We were both in a funk after we got back this trip and I can't seem to shake it. My kids and I talk about Disney EVERYDAY and what we will try to do on the next trip. I have been saving like mad in the 8 weeks since we got home (money is extremely tight around here and we don't eat out, buy toys, etc.) so we can go back again. I wish we could go every year. It was so hard to leave on our last day. I come to the disboards every chace I get (almost daily!) to fill my disney void.

Oh my God!! My kids and I talk about Disney EVERYDAY, too! Finally, finally, I have found people who understand!! Thanks so much! :goodvibes

Oh thank goodness! I really thought I was the only one who got the blues after a Disney trip is over. My husband thinks I have gone nuts. I don't know what happened this last trip (it was our 1st family trip) I was an emotional wreck when we got to the MK and a a depressed mess when we came home.LOL Got so bad hubby is sending me and ds 5, back to WDW in May for a few days (with the help of the tax check) to try to get me out of this funk! It is a combined B-day and Mothers day gift. YEAH!!!!

I can't stand leaving WDW. We usually get back at the end of January, and February is a depressing month anyway. I mope until I start planning another trip. This last trip, however, I fixed this problem. We bought into DVC about one week after being home and I was not depressed about being home becuase I knew we would be going back several, several times.

It's when another trip is in an unknown time frame or more than one year away that I don't like it.

It had been over a year since we took our first trip as a family with the kids before that our honeymoon. We are trying to save so we can go next December with my brother and his family. I too had been staying away from the DIS boards but they were calling me back this week !!!! I would say my children bring up our trip at least once a week and ask when is it going to be our special time to go again.
