They enjoyed their food. The chef wasn't the most outgoing, but he was proficient.

My kids have never experienced anything like this, unless cooking over a campfire counts, so I'm hoping we get a good chef.

Well done you for not getting on the phone after the first forty mins and screaming "HELP ME!!!" and how :cool2: was Dylan just chillin' in front of the gogglebox:worship: . You really deserved those drinkies and some quiet time after that night:crazy2:

The photos from Teppan Edo are great. I can't wait to try it.

Poor Baby J and POOR YOU! The worst is when you're trying to stop the crying and it doesn't.

Glad you were able to find comfort with Stoli :thumbsup2

Poor baby J, she was just tired! Sometimes we all have one of those nights during a Disney trip. Or maybe cutting another tooth? Hyland teething tablets were a life saver--even it the upset wasn't tooth related, it would calm dd right down (they're herbal and are at the health food store). Maybe pack some for both of you next trip? :rotfl2:

I just love how Erin kept popping up in all the photos :rotfl2:

You are such a great Uncle, can I bring you on my next trip? :rotfl: A crying baby is one of the worst things isn't it, especially when you've tried everything to calm them!

I can remember going to Tepan Edo (or what ever it was called then) when I was about 15 and the chef threw knives around and did a really good show, someone told me they can't do that any more due to health and safety :sad2:

You are a good babysitter even better than my mom because when Grace cries too much she calls me to come see about her. It can be so frustrating when they cry and you don't know what to do. It is usually gas. I am glad you had some time to yourself to chill out after that. I am really enjoying your report thank you.

Great update. I love that Erin needed to be in all the pics. She is my kind of gal:thumbsup2
I am glad they liked the food. Although I know I go for the show as much as the food.
You did a great job babysitting. I am sorry baby J was so upset. You are a wonderful Uncle!!

I bet those were the best drinks ever:rotfl:

Chapter 36. Tuesday, February 6th. Day 6. Part 6. The Crying Game.

So when I last left you....I was having some issues stemming from my encounter with Flame Tree BBQ Onion Rings.

And Flat Winkers was having an encounter with Kim's behind.....

Everyone got ready for our 7:30 ADRs at Teppan Edo...

Are you sensing a theme?

At least she is smiling and having fun! There's a reason my kids are not going with us for 5 dinners....

Oh yeah.....Teppan Edo...they cook in front of you.

We have a teppanyaki joint near our house. My kids call it the "fire place." it really confuses people when we say "what should we have for dinner" and they yell "FIRE!" :rotfl:

Erin showing her dexterity with chopsticks (Ohashi in Japanese):

good job Erin! :thumbsup2 My kids SHOCKED my parents when they were 2 and 3 by being decent with chopsticks.....they aren't so good at it now, probably due tot he fact that we aren't eating out 2-3 days a week any more.

If you noticed, I'm not in any of the pictures or Dylan or Baby J. That's right I babysat again...

Here's my night...I unfortunately didn't take any pictures of the babysitting and you'll find out why.....

So Joshie and RoboJo drop off Baby J, she's okay until they leave. She starts to cry. I try feeding her some food as I also try and feed Dylan.

5 minutes later

Still crying. I try and give her a bottle.

5 minutes later.

Still crying. I change her diaper.

5 minutes later.

Still crying. I rock her for awhile.

5 minutes later.

I turn down the lights. Lay on the floor with her and rub her back.

5 minutes later.

I just carry her around, rubbing her back, bouncing her. This went on for another 20 minutes.

Finally I broke down and called RoboJo...I told her not to come back, but if she had any suggestions. She talked about the formula. I said I had tried...
I told her not to worry that I would just deal.

Still crying. I just felt really bad not knowing exactly what was bothering Baby J. At the hour mark, I warmed the bottle up and she drank it all.

Still crying. I laid down with her again on the floor in the bedroom. After crying for another 5-10 minutes she finally fell asleep.

I'm sorry, but I jsut have to laugh. This is SO typical of babies. Mine drove me crazy a couple of times crying for no reason for HOURS. So....is this the time that they got pics of you sleeping??

About an hour and 10-15 minutes total of crying. I was pretty tired...Oh wait....Where's Dylan?  :scared:

Dylan was jus' chillin' in the living room watching the TV.....

Everyone came back around 9:45pm. I was definitely ready to go to ESPN Club and have a few drinks....

I had a "few" Stoli/cranberries and did my nightly walk along the Boardwalk/Yacht and Beach Club.

Walk....stumble....same difference.

So, who has a TR with a tale abotu this poor drunk asian guy running from him while he yelled "Dude! Your Beer!!"

I think I made it back okay and "went to sleep"

Next up: A lazy morning and a spa.

You "think" huh? Good thing you had a lazy morning planned....:rolleyes1

Oh no!

I can feel your stress about the crying thing!

That's the hardest thing about baby-sitting...not being able to figure out what to do to stop the crying. I always feel like it's my fault!

I would have had a "few" drinks as well!

Rock on with those chop sticks, Erin!

by the title I was expecting a different kind of story. :rolleyes1

great update and pics. the restaurant looks really nice.

Nice of you to offer to babysit again and then have a crying baby for over an hour. :scared1:

Glad you got your nightly drink and walk in. looks peaceful.

Aww that sucks for you and Baby J. I hate it when babies are crying and nothing you do helps. Then they start gasping for air because they've been crying so hard for so long..... I start feeling like a terrible person with no maternal instinct. :confused3

I bet Dylan was thinking to himself "Why won't he shut that thing up?? I'm TRYING to watch TV here!!" :rotfl2: I can only imagine the dirty looks he was giving you :sad2:

Hey Jordan, keeping up- just quietly...:surfweb:

:tiptoe:So, if you are graced with children one day, you seem to have aquired the necessity for a bar in your backyard!!;) :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

I feel your pain. been there, done it, many times. And may have had a beer the next day b/c I was just too darn wiped out to make it to the fridge!:faint:

Lori

Love the pictures of Teppan Edo - looks great! We haven't been there since the refurbishment but it was always a favorite. Sorry you had to miss it but so sweet of you to babysit. Poor baby J (and you!) Glad you got to go out afterwards - the Boardwalk is so pretty at night.

Jordan, you are a saint taking care of those kiddos and not calling and begging for help with the crying baby. I would have totally freaked but then again I have not dealt with babies much.

For Dan (FauntleroyFan07). Donald, me and the tongue:

Thanks for the shout out jordan. Loved the picture

Also thanks for the inside pics of the tapo edu, that is the first ones that i have seen there, i can not wait to eat ther on our next trip, we had to cancel our reservation during our last trip, because the reconstruction went longer than they expected.

good job on the parenting skills and nice call on going to get a drink aftewards.,

My kids have never experienced anything like this, unless cooking over a campfire counts, so I'm hoping we get a good chef.

I hope so too. :)

I really didn't mind the crying. I just felt bad for Baby J.

I think you're right about the whole safety thing.....it's too bad because it used to be crazy sometimes.

Laura, so formal when you're writing to me....;)

Joshie and RoboJo had 1 night out alone since Baby J was born. I think they deserved some nice nights out.

Great update. I love that Erin needed to be in all the pics. She is my kind of gal:thumbsup2
I am glad they liked the food. Although I know I go for the show as much as the food.

I got to taste the food, but that's for later in the TR.

They were the best drinks..now if I can only remember how many I had that night....:rolleyes1

JOANNE.

It was harder on Baby J than me, but I guess I was pretty stressed because I overdrank........

Sorry the title threw you off. You can go back to the picture of the guy in the kilt....;)

The restaurant does look nice...I wouldn't know....:)

The late nights were the best.

I'm checking in again:goodvibes , read the last two updates and am current now.

You are such a funny guy, sorry you got stuck watching the parade, too funny about the depends:lmao:

Nice of you to babysit again. Sorry you had such a stressful time with the baby. It gets to you I know, non stop crying will fry your nerves. Glad she finally fell asleep poor thing.

Nice shot of the board walk:thumbsup2

Poor Baby J (and you!). We had some nights like that last summer when traveling. It's one thing to have a crying baby at home, but IMO it seems worse when you're in a strange place. I feel for you!

Anyway - another great update and pics!

At least she is smiling and having fun! There's a reason my kids are not going with us for 5 dinners....

Parents deserve some alone time for sure.

I had to keep checking up on him to make sure he was okay. He's really quite easy to take care of, as is Baby J most of the time.

Hey Lori:goodvibes

No kids in my future. I don't have the stamina you all have....

The Boardwalk is one of my favorite places on property, especially late at night.

You and me both want to see Teppan Edo.....

Jordan, you are a saint taking care of those kiddos and not calling and begging for help with the crying baby. I would have totally freaked but then again I have not dealt with babies much.

St. Jordan. I like the sound of that.

Thanks for the shout out jordan. Loved the picture

You'll get to experience "the joys" of parenting very, very soon........

Hopefully I'll catch Teppan Edo the next time around.....
