Welcome to the Disboutique thread part four!
We are a bunch of ladies (and men) that share a love of Disney, boutique clothes and sewing! Even if you don't sew, please join in, you might just find a new passion!
Be warned, this thread is addictive, and we don't stay on topic!


"The bookmarks" has TONS AND TONS of FREE patterns and sewing hints and tips. Most all of the hints and links posted here will go into the bookmarks as well tons of things I've found on the internet. I update if frequently, so check back often. There is a search function, which is great if you are looking for something specific.

We have made up a few "rules" along the way
1.You MUST share pictures of everything (and unfortunately, we do mean EVERYTHING! Check out the photobucket account under "Just for Fun" if you don't believe me!
2.NO APOLOGIZING for how your kids look. That includes wet hair, messy hair, dirty faces, wrinkled clothes etc....We have come to the conclusion that ALL of our children are beautiful, no matter what!
3.No apologizing for messy houses. We like a good game of eye spy around here!
4. No apologizing for being "off topic". We like to have fun here, and are often off topic.
5. If you have a question, ask us, we'll do our best to help! Really, you can post questions here, we like that!
6. If you ask a question and no one answers, don't be upset. Either, no one knows the answer, or your post got missed. Go ahead and ask again!
7. The banana gets lonely dancing by himself, so there is a three banana minimum. We don't want lonely bananas on the DIS!

(and, just so you know, I do a mean dancing banana impersonation!)
8. Lots of the posters on here sell, but we are NOT allowed to talk about it on the thread. Check out sigantures for Ebay and Etsy usernames, or just PM someone if you see something you like.



Abbreviations used:
YCMT- http://www.youcanmakethis.com Boutique style patterns you can buy (Look for CarlaC's patterns, they are great!)
CASE- Copy and Steal Everything
If it's posted here, feel free to copy it for your own PERSONAL use. Please don't resell other people's designs without first asking them if it's ok.
CAB- Copy and Butcher everything
Voldermort- Code word for Ebay
(We started out calling Ebay "The site that must not be named", and then it was suggested that we call it Voldermort or for short.
Targemort- Code word for Target
Waldemort- Code word for Walmart
Frankenpattern- To take several different patterns and put them together into one outfit


HOW TO POST PICTURES

1. Upload the pic of your choice to photobucket
2. Resize the pic in photobucket click on the thumbnail of the picture, it will open up, then click (above the pic)> resize > 15" screen- it will make you verify that you would like to resize the pic (I like the 800X600 size pictures instead of the message board setting, it shows lots more detail)
3. After the pic has resized, go to your album, below the pic that you would like to post, there are 4 different codes (email & IM, direct link, html code & IMG code) Click in the box that has the has the IMG code. It will look something like this http: xxxxxxxxxxxxx
When you click on that box, it will light up in yellow, and say "Copied"
4. In the thread on the Dis (in another open window), click on "post reply". When you are ready to post the pic, right click - a box will open, click on paste. This will paste the link that you copied from your photobucket account.
5. Post reply. The pic should show up!

At the bottom of each post, you will see a little blue box with a + sign it it. If you want to multi-quote that post, you click the + box and then move onto the next post you want to multi-quote and click the + box. After you've clicked all the posts you want to multi-quote, click on "reply" or "quote". All of the items you want to respond to should be in the reply box. Just put your reply to each post after the [/quote] for each post.

When you click reply, the name of the picture will look something like this, but in [ _] brackets
{IMG}http://1234.photobucket.com/albums/1234/nameofthepicture.jpg{/IMG}
To make it a thumbnail, put th_ before the name of the picture, such as this:
{IMG}http://1234.photobucket.com/albums/1234/th_nameofthepicture.jpg{/IMG}
This generally only works for pictures that were uploaded to photobucket.

"Part 4ISH"

Working on Disney outfits. Might have pics tomorrow.

Brianna is being REALLY rough today, so I am punishing her by not working on her dresses for WDW. I can't believe it is working.

I finished Tessa's Minnie Dot jumper today and one for her Build-A-Bear. This is the Simply Sweet Jumper from YCMT. I doubled the width of the fabric for the skirt so it would be fuller. I made the Minnie head with a "faux serged" ruffle that I sewed on in a spiral pattern.

I love Tessa's new dress. Looks like she does too. It looks good on bunny too.

I'm trying to make myself go finish a Cinderella topsy-turvy doll for my niece's birthday party tomorrow. I was going along really well & now I've lost all my motivation. ggrrrr

I'm subbing.

I'm around the computer all day. I'm watching the woot off... I'm hopeless. DH's whole office is watching as well. They love me because they only ever watch woot when I see that there is something good one there so since it's a woot off, they are calling across the office at each other.

I saved myself a trip to the Disney Store, I really didn't want to get stuck in rush hour traffic on a Friday when it looked like it was going to rain. I had the store ship it to me so I paid for it over the phone. Probably saved myself the gas money too, it would have taken awhile to get around the beltway. Personal sanity is worth the little amount it took to have the dress shipped. It'll be easier to hide from Delaney in a box anyway.

Now I just have to finish planning her birthday party. At least she picked out the paper goods last night. We're doing a Princess & Pirate Party. One of the other dis moms pointed me in the direction of some Captain Hook party stuff and while I was playing around on the site she sent me to I found Giselle/Enchanted stuff. So we will be doing Cap't Hook for the pirates part and Giselle for the princess part. Yea!

Well, I'm working on the playroom while watching my computer so it's back to work for me.

Ok so I came out of lurking only to change jobs and not have time to breathe. I am in LOVE with all of the outfits posted. I can't wait to check in and see what else you all have been doing. I have some pics that I'd love to share of our trip last year, but just want to make sure they can be from anyone I don't sew but I love custom clothes!

Teresa- I found the very same Peter Pan Clip art you used (with my fabulous google skilz) and printed them. I increased their size a little and finally opted out because for the characters to fit on Norah's body AND be big enough for me to be able to applique them, they would be the size of a California King sheet....

Here's what I've been doing lately- not exactly dis-boutique, but done buy a dis-boutique doll! Sorry- it's all I have to contribute!

I still need to put eyes on the bunnies and sew buttons under their ties. I'll finish that up on the plane tomorrow and then I'll leave it in Utah with DD so she can get it quilted for me. When that's done, I'll sew the binding on, and it'll be finished. I'll post pics of it again when it's all finished if you'd like.

Do you think the way I arranged the squares is ok?? It's so hard to tell sometimes.
