:worship: :lmao: I hadn't thought of doing this one at all! The closest I came was thinking how to put that coffee into an IV in my arm...
:lmao: :lmao:
I would love to have a coffee IV hooked up to me 24/7......but I'm scared of needles.

ITA !! Hey...MagicalEars.... fellow New Jersian..

Looking forward to trying out the Kona coffee in 42 days!!
Real 100% Kona coffee is just "wonderful".
Most all brands sold in stores are a "blend" and just so..so....if its NOT expensive, its NOT Kona.....
....BUT....
go to a real gourmet coffee shop and get yourself a pound.
I go to Delicious Orchards, Colts Neck and usually pick up a pound...
BTW...its $35. per lb.
Shhhhh! We shouldn't spread it around that we're from NJ. Admitting that usually results in strange looks. :lmao:

$35 per lb?!?!? EEEEEEP! :scared1: Ahh, who am I kidding, I'll spend that and them some to feed my coffee addiction. It really is so sad. :rotfl:

So if I am using our transport WC for my DH and I go to the regular boat dock I can take that means of transport if I fold up the chair? A few years back when we were at the GF a driver refused to allow us on with a regural wheelchair and was very rude about it so I haven't tried it since.

That's really a shame!:sad2: Perhaps he/she assumed your DH couldn't transfer but that's no excuse. If it happens again, just calmly state that you'll be folding it and your husband can transfer. It is quite a step down though.

Only 44 more days before our first trip ever to the Poly! You all have made me very excited to try the Kona coffee. Where you can you find a cup of the 100% Kona coffee. We do not have plans to go to Kona Cafe (at least yet bu those those Macadamia Nut Pancakes are really sound and look delish!)

Also we haven't put in a room request. Is it best to leave it up to fate - we really don't have any needs. Our DDs do love to swim - so I thought about possibly requesting something near the pool.

So many people seem to be putting in room requests, what happens if you don't, do you get some awful room somewhere because all the nice rooms have gone. Its very early days of our planning but the Poly definitely is going to be included in our trip. I feel fortunate that we can get to Disney at all and feel very uncomfortable at the thought of sending a fax stating I would like this, that and the other. I think as long as the room is quiet (light sleeper)and clean I would be more than happy. We stayed last year at YC and got upgraded to concierge overlooking the parking lot but it had benefits of being able to see Wishes in the far distance, yes the other side of the hotel was nicer but we spent little time looking out really!

This is pretty much why we haven't reserved a room yet as well. I know we would be happy in any room - this will be our first stay in a deluxe and we are sooo excited! Congrats on being upgraded - I would love for that too happen - was kinda wondering if our chances of being upgraded would be better if we didnt have a room request. Are there even any bad rooms at the Poly?:confused3

While you can only get a cup of 100% Kona Coffee at the Kona Cafe, you can get a wonderful cup of Kona blend cofee at the Kona Island coffee bar. I've spent many a morning getting my Kona coffee fix here before hopping on the monorail. :thumbsup2 It's a coffee stand right next to exit to the monorail and at the far end of the Kona Cafe. Here's a photo. I apologize for how dark it is:

Definitely consider having breakfast at Kona Cafe. The Macadamia Nut pancakes are AWESOME! Between the pancakes and the 100% Kona coffee, I usually leave the Kona Cafe with a serious caffeine-sugar rush.

It doesn't hurt to put a request in. Please remember that it's only a request and not guaranteed. I'd suggest reiterating your request with a smile with the CM that checks you in. I've found the front desk CMs will do what is in their power to try and get you your request.

So many people seem to be putting in room requests, what happens if you don't, do you get some awful room somewhere because all the nice rooms have gone.

I can't think of any room that is awful at the Poly. Seriously. I joke about not wanting a 'parking lot' view but in all reality the landscaping at the Poly is so beautiful, there isn't a bad view in the place that I can think of. As I advised MEreadhead, when you check in let the front desk CM know your needs/wants and they'll try to accomodate you. If the room isn't too your liking when you see it, you can always inquire if it's possible to be moved. The Poly CMs are there to help you have a magical stay! :thumbsup2

I know how you feel. We never request a building much less a room either. I do request first floor for several reasons and used to request nonsmoking.

We've always had lovely locations. I wouldn't worry about it one bit!

In September, we had requested one of 3 buildings, and a first floor room. I was dreading ending up with a parking lot view, and that's just what happened. I decided I would check the room first before letting myself get upset. Here was our "parking lot view":

I was soooo glad I didn't let it upset me before I looked at it! I think most rooms at Poly that face the parking lot have enough landscaping that you can't even see it.

Those of you who are going soon, have a great time! I can't wait to go back in December :)

Hello everyone. We are staying at the Poly for 4 nights before the 4 night sea leg of out land /sea pkg. this Christmas. After reading through this thread, I'm wondering if it would work to upgrade from lagoon view to Club level, instead of purchasing the DDP. There are four of us. DH, myself, and 16 yr old boy/girl twins. We usually eat a good breakfast, and dinner, skip lunch with maybe a snack in the afternoon. I also would like to know if you need ADRs for breakfast at the Kona Cafe? I do know we will need them for dinner.
We are getting so excited. Last time we stayed at the CBR and loved it. This is our first time at a deluxe, but remember riding the monorail past the Poly last time, and wanting to stay there one day.

I'm only on page 28 of this thread -- that I've been reading for the past 4 hours! BUT, I had to say that this has made me so stinkin' excited fo our trip in late April. We are staying at the Poly for a week in a LV room and absolutely cannot wait. I'm learning a lot through this thread! This is our first time, so I have much to look forward to!

Thanks for the wealth of information!

Maria

Thanks MsStinkerbelle for the quick response! How about room service - would you be able to get the pancakes and 100% Kona coffee? My DH and DDs are not real big breakfast eaters - that is why we shy away from breakfast reservations. Not sure it would be worth the $$ at a sitdown restaurant if I am the only one eating. :) If not I am sure I will be visiting the Kona Island every morning for a quick cup - does it get real busy in the mornings?

You can order Macadamia pancakes from room service as well as Tonga Toast. We never miss Kona Cafe for breakfast but also love ordering room service there.

I don't think you can get the press pot of pure Kona though. But as I mostly drink tea, I'm not positive.

Brendalee, I always make reservations for breakfast at Kona even if at the last minute. Sometimes there's no wait but other times....

I just want to say "hi"- I'm a newbie to all this Disney stuff. Our 1st trip ever is booked for Sept. and we're staying at the Poly!!! My 5 year old (very high functioning Aspie) is beyond thrilled. We have to read a couple of pages of this thread every day. Thanks for all the GREAT info.

I'm so excited- I can't wait 5+ months!!! LOL

You're very welcome! I can't answer personally about room service as I haven't done that yet at the Poly. :sad1: I'm sure one of the other Poly experts here can answer about room service. Kona Island can get a bit busy in the mornings but the line moves pretty quickly. It's definitely faster than Starbucks. :lmao:

Hi. We're going to the Poly in five days, and I'm curious to know how efficient you find the transportation to the other theme parks. The monorail will take us to Magic Kingdom and Epcot. How much time should I budget for transportation to the Studios and Animal Kingdom? Let's say I wanted to get to the parks by 8:30 a.m. When should I leave my room? I assume we will take the bus, but should we take the bus from the Poly, or would it be quicker to walk to the TTC and take a bus from there?

Thanks to anyone who can help. We've always stayed at Old Key West, but this is our first time at the Poly, and the kids (and kids at heart) are extremely excited.
