Just Got Off - New Dining Rotation

They really don't seem to sort people the way they used to. We had the LAPLAPL rotation and the APLAPLA rotation on our back-to-back 7-day sailings in December and there was a wide mix of ages at each of them.

But, I would assume that the rotations would match up this way:

APLAPLA is now APPLAPL
PLAPLAP is now PLLAPLA
LAPLAPL is now LAAPLAP

I'm still trying to work the dinning rotation out. This will be my 1st DCL cruise and I am a little unsure:confused:
So, which rotation would be the 6:00 p.m. seating?

Thanks so much to all you veteran Dis'rs who have so much valuable information and insight. :worship:

There are two seatings...Main and Late. Each of these seatings is broken down into 3 rotations. The times of these rotations are staggered in 15-minute intervals. Until this recent change the rotations were as follows...

APLAPLA - 5:30 & 8:00 (I would assume this would now be the APPLAPL rotation)
PLAPLAP - 5:45 & 8:15 (I would assume this would now be the PLLAPLA rotation)
LAPLAPL - 6:00 & 8:30 (I would assume this would now be the LAAPLAP rotation)

You select a seating when you book your cruise but you do not find out your rotation until you get to the terminal and check in. One of the above codes will be printed on your KTTW card along with a number. The number indicates your table number in the dining room.

So, if you have Main dining you will eat at either 5:30, 5:45 or 6:00 each night, depending on what rotation you get.

Hope that helps.

Has Disney said if these changes are only for the summer cruises? We are sailing in April and would be interested to know if we'll be on this new rotation too. I booked Palo for night 5 (St. Thomas) so I'm hoping that Pirate night hasn't been changed to here.

Hi guys! I posted that I was told we had the PLLAPLA rotation! Everyone, including me, was very confused!

Now it's all cleared up! Thanks!

Can anyone tell me FOR SURE that formal night is moved to Sunday? (It was on Monday night previously right?) I leave on a 7 day Western on Saturday and want to be sure I haven't booked Palo on a night I'd rather be in the other dining rooms (i.e. formal, pirate, semi-formal nights). Advice anyone?

Wow! I have to admit that this kind of blows my mind a little. We have always booked Palo for the 4th night so we knew that we would then have eaten at each of the dining rooms already with our kids. Looks like we will have to book for the 3rd night. Will definately have too email Concierge to find out if we can get our dining rotation ahead of time. Does anybody know what night each of the shows is? Curious if things are changing there too. I understand that they are trying to mix things up a bit but i don't see the value in having us go to the same dining room two nights in a row. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Well done for posting, and I think 'other posters 'were confused by this change, DCL does like to shake things up now and then, and I think a couple posters were a bit surprised about the change, THANK YOU for posting, you were the first to break this new news!

This is very NEW, IE BREAKING NEWS, and so no-one actually knows for sure at this time, posts about the rotations are educated guesses, on the very new rotations. I would suggest you contact DCL for guidance on start times, if the same and what one, and if they have more kids on one, and if you get it from them, post it back here.

It is new and only posted here on Saturday, and caught people out, so no one else knows for sure.

Hmmmm...it looks like the PLLAPLA is the 6:00/8:30 seating and not the 5:45/8:15 like we would all assume it is. Interesting... :scratchin

I wonder if they'll keep this rotation after the West Coast cruises or switch back to the "regular" rotation. I'm anxious to find out so I'll know how to plan for 2009. I know it's a ways off yet, but this would throw a wrench in what I already had planned based on our Western last year.

Big thanks to trekygirl26 for keeping us all updated! :disrocks:

ETA--on another thread someone just posted that the 5:45 rotation was APPLAPL (and, therefore, 8:15). So...
5:30/8:00--LAAPLAP
5:45/8:15--APPLAPL
6:00/8:30--PLLAPLA

The question is when are the shows and the sea days, might plan to fit this in with the West coast cruises a trial run, we do not know.

This puts a monkey wrench in my Palo night plans. I was hoping to plan it for the Master Chef night since I wasn't too crazy about that menu, but now with the rotations changed and all, I am not sure what night to book it. I know I don't want to miss the show night at AP or the first night and any of the restaraunts, the Captain's gala (I think that was the night with lobster) or Pirates night. Have any of the other menus/theme nights changed?

After taking a deep breath in and out a few times, I studied the permutations and fear that you are I are part of small subset most affected... hard question, should we change...?

In fact, let me throw out my deductions, Dr. Watson:
(These only apply to western. too hard to speculate further, since western is only one to report so far. also, I am only talking about meals, not addressing shows)

1) Sat and Sunday will be identical as before.
2) Monday and Tuesday nights have changed:
for sure as location, and I believe also for menu rotational/master chef
3) Wed-Fri have same menu as before, but different locations.

Now I await Dr. Watson's reply, "My Dear Holmes, you failed to notice...."

Did they change any of the nights? I'm wondering if pirate night has been moved? Looks like the 3rd night would have to be a special menu like pirates if they've done that.

SCREAM . . . . . .

Over planner here all stressed out.:scared: :scared1:  :confused3

I too planned Palo around what I thought were normal Western rotations - Tuesday Night for Palo. :thumbsup2

Trekygirl26 - thank you for the head's up and the description above BUT what menu each night (LAP) their unique menus? What was the menu on night 3? Rotation Nights? Etc.!!??

I assume the 1st , 6th and 7th havn't changed at all. What about 2-5.
If they just traded 3 and 4 I can probably fix that onboard as we plan to get there by 10:00 and many people avoid Palo th efirst 3 nights for the rotations. (A girl can hope.) I'll forget about wanting L for formal night and PC for Pirate Night.

I know that many would take Palo almost any night BUT we don't feel that way LOL Parrot Cay is our favorite restaurant!!:lmao:

I just called DCL and was told the following. This was all I asked. Whamma I posted this in our meet thread too.

Our western sails 3/22

Monday is formal night
Wednesday is Pirate
Thursday is Semi formal night

I was mainly concerned about the Semi and Formal nights being at sea days. We booked Palo for the Semi-formal night as we didn't want a 3rd really dressed up night.
