Just Got Off - New Dining Rotation

We just got off the Magic this morning and there was a new dining rotation. Usually the rotations are APL, PLA or LAP, however our rotation was PLLAPLA. They have started this because they are going to the LA for the summer and are trying something new Apparently the new rotation is also supposed to go along with the shows they have each night in the Walt Disney Theater. Unfortunately, they didn't get everything they needed to start the new menu's for this week, so it is supposed to start next week. However, since they had already made up the rotations, we did the new rotation without the new menu. Just thought I would let everyone know what to expect because we were totally confused when we got our KTTW cards. :)

Thank you for posting, interesting.

They did 'test' things out before the last West coast cruises and also the Med, we had different menus and also meals times.

Assume the 'rotational' meals are on days 4/5/6, then?

Ah hah! That clears up the poster who said she had found out her rotation and it was PLLAPLA!

I wonder if it's going to cause a lot of confusion for return cruisers who are so used to the old system!

Hmmm..wonder how this will play out for our repo cruises? I had requested a certain rotation...Lisa

Whilst in 2005 they still did PLA or APL etc, they changed things will the rotational meals for the restaurants, not at the start, but late in the cruise and extra theme nights.

For the 'repo's' you cannot predict or be sure of anything, nice surprises will come up, I think they started new menus before the last West coast cruises, to get used to them, and I am not surprised if they are trying new rotations, after many years, its nice to freshen things up.

Did they change any of the nights? I'm wondering if pirate night has been moved? Looks like the 3rd night would have to be a special menu like pirates if they've done that.

Wow! I'm a little nervous! We booked Palo dinner, based on the schedule we thought we would be on... I now have so many different questions and am wondering how it's going to work on the West Coast cruises.

Thanks for the information!! Were the dining times still the same? 5:30, 5:45, 6:00 and 8:00, 8:15, 8:30?

I just checked with DCL and this rotation is only for the West Coast cruises, not the repos.

Formal night will be on night two, Pirate night on night 5 and semi formal on night 6. Rotational will three out of four of nights 1, 3, 4 or 7.

What are the other rotations? We usually start in Lumiere's, because we only have adults in our party. I would love to know any other changes. We are on the Magic March 29th, so any info would be appreciated. Thanks. Teri

If the rotation we know is PLLAPLA then the other two would be LAAPLAP and APPLAPL.

Thank you for confirming this so quickly, very informative, very helpful.

So which one would take the place of APL that those of us with small children usually have? And would the special nights change on a Western cruise; I have some salon treatments booked for Monday to prepare for formal night!

They really don't seem to sort people the way they used to. We had the LAPLAPL rotation and the APLAPLA rotation on our back-to-back 7-day sailings in December and there was a wide mix of ages at each of them.

But, I would assume that the rotations would match up this way:

APLAPLA is now APPLAPL
PLAPLAP is now PLLAPLA
LAPLAPL is now LAAPLAP

Hey Crafty, I thought this too when I just read this thread. Could you go back and place this link in the other thread so that the person who was talking about it is aware and understands? I have already deleted it out of my user CP. I think that would be helpful to the OP.:cool1:

Hmmm...that's a good idea. I'll be happy to.
