If any of you have stayed at the DTD Hilton recently, I would love to hear what you liked or disliked about it. Also, would love to see any pictures from guests who stayed there. Thanks in advance!!!

(Oh also curious - do they decorate the hotel at Christmas time)??

I have not stayed there but I have stayed at the DTD Doubeltree Guest suites and it wa very nice. The space was wonderful to have and we could walk to DTD. The only drawback was the buses I thought they stunk. We ended up using the car.
I would check out this board http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15

Thanks Kelly. My DH travels quite a bit so he has points we could use to stay at the DTD Hilton and the WDW Swan.

If you can stay at the Swan I would stay there. You are right next to the BOardwalk Area and can walk to Epcot and DHS. You can also take the friendship boats.

Good Luck!

Can't speak to any of the other DTD hotels but we stayed at the Downtown Disney HIlton last July for one night as a surprise to our kids before moving to our timeshare at HGVC. They thought we were just stopping at Downtown Disney for lunch on our way back from Sanibel.

The rooms were not huge, but they did have an extra counter and sink OUTSIDE the bathroom which we really appreciated (we have two teenagers). The tub was a little outdated but everything else was so nice it wasn't any big deal. Our room was spotless. We are Hilton Honors Club silver members and before we even asked we had automatically been upgraded to concierge, and we were using points, we didn't even pay anything for it. Parking was easy. Pool looked good fine although we weren't there long enough to use it. We took advantage of the the Extra Magic Hours to go to the parks at 4:00 in the afternoon and stayed until after 2 AM (a first for us). LOVED the bedding! It was the soft plump down comforter. Breakfast in the concierge lounge was great. There is a nice gift shop and little grocery type shop on the first floor. Everyone was as friendly and helpful as possible. We all wished we could have stayed there longer.

Oh thank you so much for all the information! That is awesome you were upgraded to concierge!! I hope we get upgraded. It sounds like a good hotel, I'm not gonna complain since we are using points plus $180 total and getting 6 nights there!!! Yeah!!!

We stayed there for only one night in September & were extremely pleased!!!! We got a room for only 60.00 on priceline!! We had a fabulous stay the room was clean, the beds were fabulous, & the kids had a great time in the pool. You can't go wrong!

Is the hotel in walking distance of Downtown Disney? If not, how hard or easy is it to get a bus to the parks?

We stayed there in March 2007, and really liked it!
Loved: EMH, busses were comfortable and fairly frequent, very clean and attractive hotel, comfortable beds, short walk to DtD, pool area was fun and family friendly, we got an excellent rate...

Didn't Like: no slide at the pool (not a huge deal) no balcony .

Didn't Matter: There was not a theme like on property resorts, but we honestly didn't miss it.

Overall, it felt more deluxe than moderate. Hope this helps! I see you have lots of pix, so I won't add any.

Downtown Disney is an easy walk, maybe a block total walking distance. But the Mears busses to the parks were fine for me. I only took the first one in the morning, then rode the DTD ones to get back to the hotel.

I have a question for mjh8955: Did you have to get something from the Hilton to take advantage of the EMH's? I didn't take advantage last time, but I know the room keys do not have the dates of your stay. I was just curious how you handled it when they were giving out the wristbands.

Thanks

I just showed the Magic Kingdom cm handing out wristbands our room keys and had no problem. I noticed as well that there are no dates on them so I have no idea what would prevent someone from using them when they weren't supposed to. We didn't, although it crossed my mind!

If you are staying on points, you must be HHonors and depending on your level should be upgraded....we were. The lounge is great for a breakfast and there were snacks all day. Never made it back for evening food.

We stayed there for 3 nights in March 2007. It is right next to DTD and it is a very short walk. We thought the hotel was more deluxe then moderate, the rooms were large (we had a Junior suite as there are 5 of us). The pool was area was very nice (nothing special as far as a theme but nicer then most hotel pools). Pool bar - food & drinks were good, lounge was comfortable the food there was also very good. They have a character breakfast but we didn't attend, looked cute. Also a 24 hour market and an ice cream shop.

All in all a nice place and we would stay there again but at $259 per night for the Junior Suite it isn't "special" enough. We're staying at the Dolphin this April, with the nurse discount and it works out to $40 more a night, worth it for being right next to Epcot.

Oh the beds - I LOVED the beds at the Hilton!

Ohh I hope we are upgraded...that would be so cool. I will have to check with my DH to see what level he is!! Thanks!!

I just want to thank everyone for all the information. I really appreciate it. I can not wait to go on vacation.
