12/6/07...Anyone with us?

Dee, you doing the Gingerbread House brings back the memory of James telling me the story of you and he making the Gingerbread House on Nippins and Ginger eating it. I couldn't believe that a dog would like the taste of Ginger, but then her name is Ginger! This time of year always reminds me of her. Well in case I don't get back on here for a while.......everyone please have a great trip and enjoy yourselves.

Space Shuttle Mission STS-122

Orbiter: Atlantis
Mission: STS-122/1E
Primary Payload: Columbus
Launch Date: Targeted for Dec. 6
Launch Time: 4:31 p.m. EST

Launch Pad: 39A
Landing Date: Dec. 17
Landing Time: 12:29 p.m. EST
Landing Site: Kennedy Space Center
Inclination/Altitude: 51.6 degrees/122 nautical miles

Countdown Practice Successful
Having completed a smooth countdown practice, the seven astronauts of mission STS-122 will spend the next couple of weeks puttin ghte finishing touches on their training and finalizing checklists for a launch targeted for Dec. 6. They are to carry the European Space Agency's Columbus laboratory into orbit aboard space shuttle Atlantis and install the module on the International Space Station.

Several important steps remain for NASA before the countdown begins, including an in-depth review of Atlantis and its cargo. That analysis is called a Flight Readiness Review and is sheduled to take place Nov. 30. Senior NASA managers will set a formal launch date at the end of the meeting if they deem STS-122 ready to fly.

What is the flight readiness review?

About two weeks prior to each space shuttle launch, the Shuttle Mission Management Team convenes at Kennedy Space Center for a thorough review of the next mission. Also in attendance are other top-level NASA officials, Space Shuttle Program managers, engineers and contractors. The group conducts a comprehensive evaluation of all activities and elements necessary for the safe and successful performance of shuttle mission operations -- from the prelaunch phase through post-landing. They examine the readiness of the space shuttle, flight crew and payloads to determine if everything is set to proceed with launch.

At the conclusion of the review, the chairman of the Mission Management Team conducts a poll of the team members. If there are no issues, the members sign a "Certification of Flight Readiness" to verify they have successfully completed flight preparation processes to date. At that time, an official launch date is set and the process continues toward liftoff.

Hello all......some of you have already been to this thread, but I want to let you know where it is in case other 11/8/2008 cruisers want to join us after your return trip.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1343605&goto=newpost
Hopefully you'll be able to get there with this address. Can also be found as a subject line of: November 8, 2008 7 Night Eastern.
The 11/2008 cruisers are getting excited as we have entered into the 11th month mark. Hopefully you will join us there. I've been going back and forth between the two threads getting excited for all of us.
Well let me get back to :laundy: There is always something to do :sad2:
Again have a great trip all. :thumbsup2

Pat - got my Magical Express packet - thanks!:thumbsup2 I haven't decided if I'm going to pick up my luggage at the terminal or let it go right through to Saratoga Springs. hmmm...I'll worry about that later.

Everyone - I got my cruise docs! I don't know what you were all so worried about!:rolleyes1 :coffee:

are you all sitting down? guess what came in the mail on saturday? give up? my circle journal! when it first arrived i was bit confused - it was addressed both to me and from me and instead of having the normal printed stamp on it, it was covered in a ton of regular postage stamps!

apparently, if you whine enough (wine? mmmmmm...banfi.....) you get what you want!! yay!

Hi everyone,
Hope everyone has received their cruise docs, got their packing done, and are ready for the big adventure.
I've had a couple temporary setbacks, but am forging ahead. Came down with a cold that turned into bronchitis and am now on antibiotics but am still coughing. That should be cleared up soon, hopefully, so they'll let me on the ship!
My greyhounds were running in our one-acre yard and one of them hit the corner of a flatbed trailer and ripped a huge gap in her skin and into the muscle on her side. She had emergency surgery last Wednesday to the tune of over a thousand bucks. She's home and recovering well, just got the drainage tube removed this morning. I have a friend and her mom lined up to house sit, and they have lots of experience with dogs and horses, so I won't worry too much about my critters while we're gone, but talk about bad timing. These things come in three's, so I'm waiting for that other shoe to drop. Hopefully DH won't come down with anything.
Might have to cancel our Segway tour at Epcot since finances will be tight now. Oh well, there's always next time.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in the Promenade Lounge. I'll probably be wearing an Alien Green shirt or blouse since I'll be looking for some folks from the PassPorter Boards, too. See you soon!

You need to be sure to find time to chat with Peggy (TiggersPal) as she is a horse owner too! (as was I many years back).

I need to be cancelling my Segway tour also *****ANYONE WANT TO TAKE MY SPOT with Peg, Janice & Linda*** It's Tusday morning 12/4 9:30AMish. My hips just won't take that standing in one spot for so long that you need to do on the Segway. I won't cancel it till the end of the week if anyone wants to take my place.

We (Peg, Pam & I) will be wearing lime green too...as we picked that for our embarcation photo.

FIREFIGHTER MICKEY...the meat is at 3PM in the Promonade Lounge (Deck3)

3LVDisney...thanks for your trip report! I did the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour a few years back and really enjoyed all the info they share. Storyteller's is my favorite place to eat at DLR (well, Club 33 was pretty special, but not an option for every trip). One breakfast at Storyteller's we nearly laughed ourselves sick with Keani. (I think that spelling is right?)

Peg, I took away the tree, as it was too tall. Maybe:tigger: will fit?

WHo was it from and how do I get ours back. Sadly, I have moved since then and now I am afraid it will not be forwarded.

Dee, Janice received hers from Sandi - and it was the only one she had.
Kris has all the others she has not responded to my emails although she did respond to Jeanna - she is having financial difficulties so in my email, I offered to send her $20 to mail all the books she has to me.
She has not responded to that email :sad1:

So glad u got your book :dance3:

Bev, so sorry about your furbaby. Ouch! I know how you feel; we pretty much emptied my furbaby vet account for our new kitty, Weasley. The 4 legged kids better be healthy for a good long while.

Jackie, PoohJens mom talked about doing the Segway tour. Maybe Jen can talk to her about this.

Janice, so glad about your CJ! Hopefully Kris will send the rest along. Did you get my email reply about Sarah's DS? I was having some email probs that day. If you didn't, I can re-send it. She is one happy camper! And she can't wait to see all of ya'll!

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. Mine was the best! I got to spend it with PoohJen and her family!:woohoo:

Yeah that looks better!

Pat - I couldn't for the life of me figure out why you were laughing about my "tank top" and later that day I told Jackie, well... It didn't occur to me that while we'll be wearing our denim for MVMCP - that it will be LATE at night and yes with evening temps of 53ish that would be TOO NIPPY for a tank top under a denim shirt that I cannot button closed!!!

So, I ONCE AGAIN went thru the clothes I've set aside to pack and "re-thought" some items. - I've replaced the denim mickey shirt which was too small to button up, with my NPL denim shirt that WILL close and I'll be prepared with a better layering job with scarf and mittens in my backpack for those extremities! I should be much better prepared... what would I do without PAT???:confused3 :flower3:

The temps here have dropped and it's VERY nippy in the early morning and evenings now. Finally!!!! Time to light up that FIRE PIT!

I've got clothes layed out all over the guest bed and I might have to re-do wash, since Hope my red min pin, has been lying across all the clothes hoping I won't pack and go without her...

Bev - I know exactly how you feel about your critters... guess who cancelled her 15 day cruise because I WILL NOT leave my pets in a kennel or with people I don't trust? Call me crazy - but I would rather not go. As it is, I can barely make it a week without my critters in my life. :rolleyes1 Ok must get to paying the bills so I don't have to worry about that while I'm gone - dear DH hasn't done that in YEARS and YEARS! Let's all hope that while we are on this trip I'll get into the Christmas spirit, because right now, there is NO plans for me putting up the tree or decorating my house outside... I'm just beat... a few BBC's in the hot tub a week away from work and I'll be good as NEW!!!!:santa: :santa: :santa:

P. S. No one is going to bring me photos of their past trips...huh? Well, can't say I blame you - loading up luggage with a bunch of photo albums would be kinda crazy - but will yo PROMISE me, you'll tell me stories of your travels?

Hey Linda! Yes, I got your email and a thank you note from Sarah! If you see her, remind her she promised me a hug and I plan to collect it!

Yesterday I had to buy a second copy of "7 Wonders" cuz we both keep fighting over that one!

How come you didnt' tell us that a new show based on "Tory Story" will debut on the Wonder in January when they stop performing Hercules? Aren't you in charge of those types of things??

I hate it when I am left in charge of myself . . .

Hercules is the one show I haven't seen......so i will be SURE to see it this trip!

Off to get my mamogram!

Do I need to buy trip insurance???? Jackie got hers and I'm just not sure I need to...

ANY COMMENTS???

Jackie, PoohJens mom talked about doing the Segway tour. Maybe Jen can talk to her about this.

JEN....tell her she would have SO MUCH FUN with Peg, Janice & Linda ::yes:: I'll even "donate" my spot to her (well, in exchange for a few BBC's on the ship perhaps). :thumbsup2 OH OH OH...or for a bottle of Banfi Rosa Regale...it's about 1/2 the price of the tour and would make me very happy!

Oh, that is such OLD NEWS! I guess I didn't post it here, since it doesn't impact our trip (well....unless you haven't seen Hercules yet, you would surely want to on this trip....guess I did drop the ball) :headache:

Has anybody noticed a 'newish' 3 day Navigator posted anywhere lately?

Got my Visa Rewards card and transferred over my rewards $$$ ($102 yeah) today. Printed my cruise contract and signature paper. Printed a copy of my trip insurance to leave at home. Think I'm all set...just have to get those papers oragnized in my folder now...OH and grab my PASSPORT!

Peg....trip insurance is up to you...remember, you are a daredevil...stuff can happen.....
