Still Day One...
--will this trip report NEVER end--
Part Blah Blah:
Entitled:
"Don't worry, it's just like Stich, with fish..."
When we last left the Hicks they had finished up Living with the Land,
and were headed off to see if they could catch them a Large Mouth Bass
at the Living Seas with Nemo and Friends.
No, I jest, they were just going to look at the purty fish.
And talk to a turtle.
No, really.
We parked the stroller
-- ok, I get it, the buildings would be REALLY crowded with strollers, but sheeeeeesh, what a pain --
and headed in the door.
Nemo had been posting wait times, according to reliable sources, but it was under 10 minutes to get in.
I am not sure how to bypass the clam-mobiles,
though I thought I heard you could,
but it might be handy if you had already seen them,
because the hold-up is the loading those things.
Now, I must warn you about what I am about to say next.
***WARNING - what you are about to read may quite possibly be POLITICALLY INCORRECT.***
Do not say you were not warned.
The people in front of us were taking a bit of time.
There was absolutely NO ONE in front of them.
Yet, we were SLOOOOOOWLY walking around the queue.
Why???
Well, because there were two people on ECVs/scooters.
But...
you say
...you need to have pity.
It is such a pain to have to get around on a scooter.
Oh, I agree.
What was irritating was NOT the scooter business, per se.
It was the fact that BOTH of these ladies had to stop every 1 1/2 feet and take a picture.
And that's NOT an exaggeration.
Again, pics alone, not a problem.
You can always politely say "may we go around you?"
But the get the scooter going, stop the scooter, get the camera, take the picture, start the scooter, stop the scooter....
Block the whole line in the process....
You get my point.
Thankfully, this situation did yield one humorous tidbit.
When they finally got up to the point of getting on the clam-mobiles,
the one woman looks at her teenage son and says:
"What is this? Is it scary? It looks kind of scary!"
To which her son replied:
"Don't worry. Remember Stitch? It's just like that, only with fish."
We're not quite sure what he was trying to say, but we thought it was hilarious that he was comparing the clam-mobiles scariness level to Stitch (assuming the attraction at MK).
Anyway, we finally get on the clam-mobiles with only one casualty.
Mom didn't realize the walkway was moving.
She did get on the ride, but not without stumbling a little.
From that day on, all moving walkways were greeted with the whole group yelling back at Mom "MOOOOVING WALKWAY!"
I think she appreciated our thoughtfulness.
The clam mobiles are pretty cool, actually.
You follow Nemo as his friends and family attempt to locate him...again.
The animation, combined with live fish, looks pretty cool.
We decided to see how long it would be until the next Turtle Talk with Crush.
The wait was only a few minutes, so we lined up.
May I just say, I am amazed sometimes at what attracts attention to people.
Is it an inherent obnoxiousness?
A winsome smile?
That deer in the headlights look?
Random acts of kindness?
Well, whatever it is, Stitch Jr must have bathed in that week, because his streak was just about to start.
All the kids sat up front, and during the talk, Crush tells a CM who to take the microphone to.
(This technology is awesome, if you have not been, you really should check it out.)
Sure enough, Stitch Jr. was picked, to learn some surfer turtle speak.
We were pretty excited to have one of our group picked.
After the talk, we headed upstairs to see more of the aquariums.
We stumbled onto the dolphin training session.
We have seen this before, and it is also very cool.
And, wouldn't you know, though we had only arrived minutes before, Stitch jr was picked to assist the trainer?
Some kind of lucky, that kid!
Here are some fish photos, all by Disneygirl:
For some weird reason, I didn't take many pics after breakfast. I think I was much too focused on having everyone's first day go smoothly.
We finished up looking at the fish, saw a bit of a demonstration by a diver, and then decided it was time to move on.
The AC had been nice, but it was time to head back out into the brutal heat, because there were Disney places to go, Disney people to see.
Next up: The Rest of the Stuff We Did at Epcot....
