Hi,

A quick question about pin trading.

We're from Australia and we don't have any 'Disney' pins, but I really think my DD (she'll have just turned 5 when we sail) would love to swap pins with other people/kids/CMs, etc. (not that kids and CMs aren't people...you know what I mean :p ).

Would it be ok, do you think if she brought along some "Australiany" pins to swap? I'd rather not bring anything than have her excited about swapping and then feeling rejected if she got turned down.

Have a great day!

 (ExtraOrdinary Public Holiday because of APEC Meeting today!!! Yay for the secret service shutting down the entire Sydney CBD so George W. and 20 other world leaders can have a chat!)

Ask your question on the "Disney Collectors Board" (near the bottom of the list) and I am sure that you will get an authoritative answer.

Hi,

The CMs are only suppose to trade official disney pins (according to the "rules"). However, I've noticed that some CMs don't follow the rules as strickly as others do:confused3

Personally, I'd love  to trade for "Australiany" pins, but I'm not sure how other pin traders would feel. The CMs are suppose to trade if they are wearing a lanyard and if you have an official disney pin, they can't turn you down:thumbsup2 Which is why, if we are going to trade, we usually do so with CMs (no chance of rejection;) ).

You can buy disney pins in bulk online if you have time for them to be shipped (mouspinsonline) or buy a starter lanyard on the ship when you get there (comes with a lanyard and 2 sets of duplicate pins for about $25, I think).

Maybe someone on your cruise meets thread would be able to tell you if they would be interested in trading or not :confused3

I thought my DD would like it - so on the advice of some others, bought a number of pins on eBay...
We ended up not having time to trade them - but we'll take them along next time just in case! :)

Cast Member are Only suppose to trade official Disney pins.. Disney store bought, Theme Park, On the ship where ever as long as they are "Disney"

You can buy some right on the cruise when you get there if you dont have time to get them elsewhere..

They have a Book that sits on the table and you can trade from the book and each Store employee and some others wear landyards everyday all day..

Your DD will have a Blast.. be careful it is addicting..

Best Wishes

I ditto the above re: Cast Members' rules and recommending bulk pins on eBay (just make sure they are "official" - I personally have not had any problem with buying Disney pins on eBay).

As far as your DD not having any Disney pins, being from Australia, well, most American kids start out with no pins either!;) Each of my kids started out with the "Starter Sets" you can buy at any Disney park and on the ship. These include a lanyard, and mulitples of pins to trade. For instance, it may have 2 or more of the same Minnie, so DD can keep one Minnie if she likes it, and trade the other.

Our whole family, even DH and grandma!, LOVE pin trading now! Hope you do to; have a great time!:cheer2:

Hi,

Thanks everyone for getting back to me.

I've had a look at the starter sets and I'll probably get one each for the kids - even if they don't end up trading, they'll at least have a souvenir.

Have a great day.
