Grand Californian concierge vs Paradise Pier concierge vs Disneyland Hotel concierge?

With the AP4 rates out I am deciding which hotel to choose from. All three have rooms with concierge service and have great rates, but I can not decide which one to choose. Now I am wondering is there a difference between the 3 hotels and what they offer with there concierge service? If anyone has done concierge service I would appreciate to hear what each one offers. Thanks

I have done both the PP and the GCH concierge. I must say that I would probably only do concierge again at the GCH. While the cost is extremely higher at the GCH, we simply did not make it back to the hotel enough at the PP to make it worth the money. Both offer virtually the same benefits, but to us it was the proximity of the GCH to DCA that made it worthwile. We could run into the hotel to grab snacks, drinks, and beer for DH, while at the PP we would hit it for breakfast and that would be it.

Yes, PPH does offer wine and cheese. It also includes beer as well from 5-7pm. There's also some hor d'ourves. When we went last Feb, it was chicken skewers one night. For breakfast they had pastries, cereals and fruits. The biggest difference about PPH concierge and GCH & DLH cocnierge was hours. PPH closes at 8pm, while DLH & GCH closes at 10pm. So in the off season when the park closes at 8pm, you can still avail the snacks at DLH and GCH.

We experienced the DLH concierage last week and it was nice... but DH and I agree that the next time we go we will be staying at the GC. The walk to the DLH isn't far the first day.... but it seemed to get farther every day we walked it!!!

Did you walk from the disneyland hotel to the front gate, or did you take the monorail. We are staying there and I'm wondering how long the walk is from the DLH to the Monorail station.

It will depend on which tower you're in. We stayed in the Marina tower and the walk to the Monorail station took about 2-3 minutes.

Does concierge refer to staying on a certain floor, plus all those perks, or JUST the perks? Can it be added on while checking in? (I imagine if it's only for a certain floor than you're running into space problems, but if it's JUST the perks it would be different)

Is it the same 125/night I've read about, even at PPH?

And can you add it for some nights, but not all, of your stay?


On the other hand...there's no way we're paying 125/day for food and beer...I can't possibly justify the expense...

We have done PP concierge and DLH concierge. Would not do PP concierge again. The reduced lounge hours make a difference and we were not as impressed with the service. The hours at the DLH made it convenient to come back plus you can see the fireworks and they used to pipe in the music to go with them. That was a nice touch. The lounge is not big, though, at DLH and it can get crowded, though. We haven't done the GCH concierge so can't comment on that one. If it were me, and money were not an object, after just returning from 4 days at the DLH hotel -- I would stay at the GCH instead. The DLH was not "up to par" for us in terms of condition of the rooms and condition of the surrounding grounds. We walked through the GCH and there was a difference.

Bumbershoot -- If you are getting concierge at $125 a night, I would jump on that. It shows it to be --rack rate around $325-600 per night depending on where you stay .. when. etc. but that isn't an AP rate. We just returned and expedia, hotels.com, etc. were all showing the standard DL room to be at $285. Our friend got an AP rate of $255 at the last minute. GC rooms were must higher and PP were very close to DL Hotel.

Concierge refers to a level of service. At the DLH the rooms are the same size, typically, as the others. What happens is you get access to the concierge lounge which serves a continental breakfast, has snacks/drinks throughout the day, serves wine/cheese/some alcholic beverages in the evening and then desert. Plus, you have a separate check-in and a "staff" that will help you with pre-planning as well as when you are there make priority seatings, etc. At WDW they are changing the term to club level as many are disappointed in the level of service.

At the DLH most of the concierge rooms are on the 10th and 11th floor of the Sierra Tower -- although suites are throughout the hotel. I can't remember where they were at PP but do remember the lounge not being on the same floor or close -- it has been three years and my memory fails me.

There is always the question of whether it is worth it or not. For us, we have decided it isn't "worth it" at Disneyland but in most cases is worth it at WDW. They are two different experiences for us so our expectations and what we are after differs at each one.

I believe it refers to certain rooms on certain floors as concierge rooms have dvd players in the room.

Yes, if there is availability. We tried during our 1st trip to GCH but concierge quota was filled.

I believe it's an additional $100 @ PPH, $125 @ DLH and $150 at GCH

I don't think that's possible unless you have seperate reservations (ex: 4 nights total: 1 reservation for 2 nights w/concierge and 1 reservation for 2 nights w/out concierge. But you'll proabbly have to switch rooms during your stay.

At one time Disney used to offer "concierge access" to selected guests which meant they could use the lounge during their stay. In this event, they didn't have to change rooms. They have gone away from this policy and are limiting the number of individuals who have access to the lounge and also the number of rooms they "sell" at this level. The idea is that they can only provide this service to a select number of guests and are limiting it to make the "level" more valuable to guests, harder to get, etc. which in turn allows them to offer it at a greater price.


I agree with victorandbellasmom in that they typically want you to have separate reservations for that service -- even if you don't switch rooms. At least at DLH and PP the rooms are the same so at check-in you could connect the ressies and probably won't have to move rooms. You would have to go down and "re check-in" since they would be two different ressies --as your card would be deactivated at 11am on the day you "check-out" of one ressie... etc.

On this last trip (just got back) I asked if we could upgrade to concierge and were told they were sold out. It seems this is more common these days.

The walk from the Sierra Tower to the monorail station is only a few minutes. For early entry we walked to the main gate... on our regular entry day we entered via the monorail. In the evenings we went to CA so returning to the hotel we walked back... through the GC depending on where we were in the park.

One of the little perks with DLH concierge access is the outdoor glass express elevator straight up or down from the lounge directly outside on the path to DTD. If you leave from the lounge or return back from the lounge, it makes the trip back to your room that much shorter. I think it is quite the advantage....when you stay concierge and pay all that money, you try to find the value in everything to make it "worth it"--this is certainly a small, but valuable, perk, especially if you are in a room on the same floor as the lounge. (Be sure to request staying on that floor if possible.)

With the AP4 rate concierge is not as much to add on. Not sure about PP or DLH, but GC is $199 for standard room and $279 for concierge. I think I saw on here that others were able to get PP concierge for $169 per night.
