Has anyone stayed at the Poly on the 4th of July and days around it? How is the pool? How is the beach on the 4th for fireworks?

We've stayed at the CR for the July 4 holiday on two separate occasions. This is usually a really busy time at the parks - although since the holiday is midweek this year, that might tamp down the local crowds a tad. You already know it will be pretty hot.;) We have seen unbelievable crowds on our visits with long waits for the monorail and buses. But some folks think the crowds just add to the festivities. Great fireworks!

I'd like to know this as well. We've seen the regular fireworks from the Poly beach and it was great, but I'm wondering if anything special goes on on the beach for the 4th. We're staying at the Poly June 30th-July 6th and I highly doubt our 2 year old will be wanting to head back into the MK to see the late night July 4th fireworks. At the resort, we can wake her up, take her to the beach in her PJs to see the festivities, then put her back to bed after the show.

We stayed at Poly over the 4th. It was great, fireworks were awesome from the beach......we actually sat down in the grass. Watch from there....if you can!!

We were at WDW 2 years ago, again on the 4th. Stayed at POR. Yes it is crowded on that day.....We stayed at the entrance gate (do not go in) to MK and watched the fireworks...when they were over we were first to get on the monorail and ride to Epcot and watched the show....(the show is 30 min. later). We were on a family mission to watch some fireworks....

It was so crowded at MK they would only let resort guests in the park. You couldnt go through the main entrance, they had you come in on the side and go down the back roads behind the Main Street buildings, it dumped you out in Tomorrow land...crazy busy...but fun. We went in orig. we got about half way in and I turned us around.....we are outta here!!

Poly pool is awesome, they play underwater music....

ENJOY!!

You have a good plan in place, my friend. The fireworks from what I've been told and have read, is a much bigger on the 4th. Your spot on the beach in front of the Poly will be busy and will probably be full of non Poly resort guests. I've been told it's kind of an issue at times and I wonder if the Poly management is taking more steps than usual to correct it? It's certainly better to be there close to your room than trying to fight the crowds at MK with a 2 year old. Enjoy your trip.

The 4th of July is our favorite time to be at the Polynesian. We use to do it every year. We would get there the week before and stay at another resort than switch over to the Polynesian on the 4th because it was when Value season use to start.

We usually hit a park in the morning and spend the afternoon and evening at the resort. There are many fun activities they have going on in the lobby, pool area and the beach during the day for kids and most of them are special for the holiday.

The beaches do get crowded but we just sat on out patio. It is still much less crowded than the park but if I were not staying there I would not want to try and get out of the resort after the show. It was nice to just go back in the room and than go over to the park that was open until 1:00 or 2:00 (can’t remember exactly when). It is a prime location for the fireworks since they are set off in the park and from the islands in the lagoon. Also for the Polynesian only they have the Electrical Water Pageant with the stars and flags going when the fireworks are going off.

They have tried different ways of keeping non-guests out during the 4th and they are going to be trying something again from what I hear but I will not say what. We have been checked on the 4th at the monorail station and the pool for resort ID. The beach is closed to non-guests (officially) on the 4th and the pool is closed to DVC hoppers for the holiday also. Even locals rent rooms for that night because it is such a prime spot for viewing.

Aloha
