How did you pick your site?

How did you decide which DFTW site was the "one"? Did you get your first choice?

I like Sunset Pointe but I have been seeing some gorgeous pics on here of Seabreeze.......

it is one of the worst decisions... I think. We made the decision without really knowing what we were doing. We decided against the Yacht Club Gazebo because other people could go out on their balcony and watch, make noise, be in photos, etc.

We couldnt do Sunset Pointe due to the time of year (seasonal)

We were staying at the WL so we decided against Sunrise Terrace-- our magic would take place enough at WL.

And the WP was more money than we wanted to spend for such a small group of ppl-- plus I like the outdoors as does DH.

So there was our decision made for us.. SBP- its beautiful and it was on the water...

Maybe you can do a process of elimination and it will help you too!

we really thought about this one... i agree with magimus about the seasonal reason at sunset pointe. that was my first choice but we wanted an april wedding and they won't do them there at that time.

we are getting married just the two of us and we thought the wedding pavilion would be too big for just us two.

i've stayed at the wilderness lodge before and while i love it as a resort, i didn't love the location of where the ceremony would take place.

we liked the gazebo and thought it was pretty in pictures we saw, so there it is... yacht club gazebo! :cloud9:

I did the yacht club cause I liked the look of the area & I didnt mind having people watch & take pictures, we felt like stars!

I think they are ALL unique in their own ways!

I think thats why we all look forward to a vow renewal.

Its all about the atmosphere:)

DL wedding...

I wanted a castle wedding, but due to budgetary/time constraints, had it in the Rose Court Garden (because we didn't like the Grand Californian's wedding garden and the RCG was the only location other than the castle that you can have the coach).

When we were thinking WDW, it would have been WP all the way (again, other than the castle lol). Actually, I didn't even really know you could do it elsewhere (pre DIS days for me).

We are getting married at Sea Breeze Point in Jan. With us chosing a location was easy. I wanted it somewhere outside and near water. Our guest list helped us narrow down those locations. My dream was to get married at Sunset Pointe however we have 18 guests. From what I have seen from others pictures SBP is a nice option. I still get sortof a beach wedding.:bride:

We wanted to get married outside and have a beachy themed wedding. We'll have 70 guests, so SBP was our only choice.

For the ceremony, ours had to be inside...Karma would have gotten me if i tried for an outdoor wedding....plus it satisfied the parents with the WP as they felt like it was a church....For our Reception it had to be AA....i saw the DFTW video when it first came out and decided then and there that i would dance in the rotunda on my wedding day

For me it had to be the wedding pavillion. I wanted a night time wedding first off. Second, I looked at a few other places such as sunset point and WL, but I couldn't have it there due to the size of my wedding. For my reception, I choose illuminations dessert party at UK lower. I am not one for a traditional dinner/dancing reception, and my df loves fireworks so it was a must.

Is it a custom wedding or are you allowed to do the illuminations thing for an intimate!?

We too went with process of elimination. We came up with a list of things/qualities that the locations HAD to have and went from there.
Our list was:
1. Indoors (we want a Feb/Mar wedding and have wicked bad luck with FL weather :confused3 and didn't want to worry about outdoor spots)
2. Capacity for approx 115 people.
3. Something unique and very Disney (someplace that you HAVE to go to Disney for).
4. Sit down dinner reception.
5. Ability to pick whatever menu choices we'd like.
6. Space for dancing. :dance3:

So for the ceremony the only location that fit was the WP.

For the reception the choices that fit were: AAR, China, and LS. China just didn't do anything for us, and we wanted both AAR and LS. So we decided on LS for the rehearsal luncheon/brunch, and AAR for the reception.

So in the end it will be a little more expensive with our choices, but it is the wedding that we both want and will be happy with for years to come.

HTH!

For my intimate...

WP - didn't want to spend the extra $1000 for it
YCG - I remember seeing people get married there and watching them from my room. I dont want people being able to see me as close there.
WL - I heard about the Trash Can (yes a dumb reason I know) and didn't want that
SBP - It would be my second choice; however, i really don't have much love for the board walk

SP - perfect for me :D Beachy and Small

Everyone has different reasons for why they want what they want though.

We originally wanted Sunset Point too...but we also wanted to stay at the resort nearest the location. The Poly was scheduled for some rehab during our dates so we had to change our location about 30 days before our wedding. DFTW handled it all well.

We ended up at Sea Breeze Point and I do not regret that move AT ALL!! The Boardwalk was perfect for us, and Sea Breeze Point itself is beautiful! We wanted a very casual wedding (it was just DH and me) and it turned out just right.

No matter which location you choose, they are all lovely!!!

Ohhhh I almost forgot to ask, what happens if you pic Sunset Pointe and it RAINS?

I think they used to say the alternate location was the King Kamehameha Suite at the Poly. But I know of one bride who got sprinkled with major Pixie Dust and ended up at the WP!!

You can ask your planner...but it's most likely they won't be able to tell you for sure until that location is needed (because it will depend on what is actually available).

We wanted an outdoor wedding. An intimate one, but with more than ten guests.

Wedding Pavillion - not outdoors
Sunset Point - our first choice, but limit of 10
Sea Breeze Point - our second choice, but became our first choice because of Sunset Point's restrictions
Yacht Club Gazebo - ranks behind SBP due to proximity to balconies and seated guests are not shaded
Wilderness Lodge - limit of 10. Although I saw a video sneak peak at STVS Weddings' web site where it looks like a couple were married in the outdoor gazebo at WL and not on the terrace. The other consideration is I live near wilderness, so the atmosphere and decor isn't special for me compared to palm trees, sand and water. In fact, my DF grew up in a log house.

I am having a custom wedding. I am not sure if you can have the illuminations for an intimate wedding :confused3 . I have read where people have done the dessert party as a welcome party the night before, but again I don't know if that is a custom only thing or not.

I really wanted Sunset Pointe as that's where my DH2B proposed but we'll have way more people than allowed to do it at that site. I also knew I wanted a sunset wedding so World Showcase was out. My last deciding factor was that I wanted to get married in October and having gone to WDW in November and December I know how unpredictable the weather can be and I didn't want it to be 90 degrees with 100% humidity at an outside location and my DH about to pass out (he sweats to death in anything over 70 degrees). So I've settled on the WP for air conditioning, beauty, privacy, and the ability to have a sunset wedding.

I've also chosen the Living Seas for our reception for many reasons. Epcot is my favorite park and the Living Seas Salon is beautiful enough on it's own that I won't have to spend a ton of money on decorations. I wanted a more unique reception than just a ballroom. Also, there will be quite a few kids at our reception so giving them something to look at (the kids in our families LOVE fish) and entertain themselves is better than having them run all over the place.

Good luck on your decision! :goodvibes I had originally planned on doing an intimate if we married at Disney and definitely would have done WP or Sunset Pointe. The YC gazebo was my last choice as I didn't want people to just be able to come out on their balconies and stare at us.

To answer your question-- if you have an outdoor wedding and it rains...

You will be moved to an alternate location (they tell you it is the Convention Center)...

Places such as SBP handle okay during minor rain showers because of the covering. Something to consider when you choose Sunset Pointe. There is absolutely no worries when choosing the indoor locations.

I was thinking that myself... I think SBP is a much "safer" choice just in case!
