Well....The dream of a lifetime has started to slowly turn into a nightmare...
It started on embarkation, My friends suitcase has been literally shredded, this is a case that has done 2 return trips to Bangkok, people...without a scratch. DCL made short work of it in less than 3 hours!
We have had, in no specific order of occurence, Mediocre food, except for 2 meals, NO toilets for an entire evening(this was a floor to floor occurence), NO airconditioning in our room last nighth until 4am, NO airconditioning on our deck since embarkation..combined with a horrible stench that left only 2 days ago... NO cold water last evening to shower for the Captain's Gala...when I reported it to guest services, a very snotty girl blew me off, then when I insisted she call me back to let us know when we could shower, my daughther(7) was SCALDED. We pulled her screaming from the shower....
Oh, yeah, and 3 days ago, we had 4-5 inches of water in the bathroom sloshing around...we laughes, and called it our private wave pool!
If anyone has been following the Yummy Mummy thread, you know I am a HUGE supporter of DCL, and the Disney Magic, and this cruise was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime for my bestfriend and her daughter, who was a little sceptical of my enthusiastic rave reviews of the Disney Cruise line....not much of an endorsement, I'm afraid. we have reported all this to Guest Services, we will see what happens. (Stupid me is trying to convince them to stay on an extra week, to prove that it isn't this bad usually...but we are waiting news on that too!) Too bad it is the last night, can't make it up now...

OMG.....I was so looking forward to your post when you returned....so sorry to hear of all the problems you are encountering....what with the food....was it cold, bad, or just not up to snuff. I know how excited you were in planning this trip.

We sailed on the same cruise as you on 1/4 and I know the food was great on that cruise.

Keep us posted....and I hope you get to stay on for next week....good luck with Guest Service...be firm!!!!

What movies are playing????

MJ

so sorry to hear of all the things going wrong. hopefully, better times ahead.

OHmigod! Cruisinprincess, I followed your posts and knew how much you were looking forward to this cruise.... I'm so sorry it was a disaster.

I would have trottled that little snot who blew you off... Hmm, can I say "where's your supervisor, snot!???" THere's no need or reason for them to be like that after all the money you've paid for the cruise.

Jeanny :)

CP: I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope the kids weren't too bummed about it, although it would be tough not to be.

When we got back to the room, there was...AGAIN..NO cold water. The children have not showered since castaway Cay. We finally got angry enough to talk to someone, they have been very nice, have given us a place to TRY to shower, Emma has JUST rec'd her bag, so forget being packed by 11"00...and we have 10 suitcases between us. She is LIVID, I just keep apologizing, and have broken down once in front of guest services( I am such a weenie...but now they are going home, and we don't know when we'll see them again...) GS has been sympathetic, but we get the same DCL corporate line...I know they have to say it, but I can see the genuine look of "I wish I could do more" in there eyes...I have emailed dreams in desperation to find a cabin for tomorrow...no pixie dust available. well, they have one available, but it is a category 4, there is no FLA resident discount, nothing....if I had any extra $$, I would just do it, but my Husband abandoned us at Christmas, and this is not an option..cat. 11 yes, but not 4 at over 7500$. !!Sorry to bore you all with our woes, I digress. Thanks Sally, but Ashley just looked at me with those big baby blues at dinner, and said"Mummy, this is the worst cruise we've had...why THIS time..." We'll see what happens on shore side, but it doesn't look good, unless by some miracle someone cancels tonight..they can't fly back next week from Bangkok!Keep you posted! Thanks for the support...

crusnprincesses - I'm so sorry to hear about your cruise! I leave sunday on the wonder and hope that it is not a nightmare like your week! ANYHOW - I just checked the Disney Cruise website and noticed that there is a CAT 12 cabin open. The website says there is a CAT 5 and CAT 12 open. I know 12 isn't the best due to location, however it could be a guaranteed cabin meaning the possibility of upgrade. Hopefully you'll find a way to stay on the ship and have a better week! Good luck!

Wow.... I am so sorry to hear of this mess! I feel terrible for you as that has never been our experience when sailing. I agree you should demand to talk to an officer or a manager in the least!

I was really sad to hear of your nightmare this trip knowing how you were soooo looking forward to it. I hope you get compensated for it, but ~~~~~ can't replace these memories. What exactly did they do to your cases? and what was wrong with the food? Lets hope this doesn't put you off any future cruises and that you came away with some good memories.

Crusnprincess, I am so sorry to hear that things weren't 'magic' on your cruise. I know how much you were looking forward to it, (as much as I am looking forward to our 3/22 cruise!) Did they ever give you any explanation for the water problems? Was the ship was too full to move you to a different cabin? If all else failed they could have at least let you shower in the spa. I know it will be impossible to recreate that time with friends :( and I'm hoping you manage to have some happy times together before going home.

Your deck has had no air conditioning the entire cruise? What deck are you on? Is your cabin still with out air? What was the explaination for no air and no cold water? Are water pipes broken? Are your neighbor cabins having the same problems?
What was the corporate line they gave you? I guess by now you are off the ship or reboarding let us know what happens!

Gosh, sooo sorry to hear such awful things. Wish we could have seen or got another meet in place, maybe with support of friends it might of been easier to take, or at least bearable. I met you the first day in Parrot Cay at 1:50pm. Hardly anyone showed up! At the cast-away party, on deck, it was so crazy you couldn't keep your own family together let alone try to find people you never met before. We had a few things that weren't too great, but Guest Service handled them great. I do have some suggestions that they could do to make it a bit more magical.

Cindy

Well, as I guess you have all deduced, we are not on the Magic. As frustrated as we were, we have been verging on devastated all day. As soon as we got to the hotel, I started frantic phone calls to see if we could get onboard, with no avail. They checked inventory, called the port, but no luck(sorry, I'm not prepared to pay 12k for a trip that might turn out the same way this one did...) We even took the suggestion of a gs manager, and tried the Wonder....no luck again. Emma and her daughter are scheduled to leave on the 10th...I kept hoping all day for a 7th hour miracle to occur, but as it got closer, and closer to sailing time, we all had to face facts.
To be honest with you, I think the worst part of it all was that they refused to validate our feelings that we were jilted, and that our magic had been ruined. WE didn't want compensation, didn't want a reduction, we just wanted someone to say, " we are sorry, what can we do to make you feel better" instead, we got " sorry you felt "challenged" while onboard the Magic, and we have made a note of the "Challenges" you faced. Gotta love those buzzwords they bandy about, you get the same line, the same tone, from them all. How many people in our postion would have remained so understanding, for so long? Oh that's right, we not only were understanding, we were trying to pay them again to try to see if we could make it better ourselves. Oh, and Allstars had lost all record of our ressie!(this is another New thing for us, but the kids love it here....personally, I would be happier commiserating with the staff at AKL .
AS far as the food goes, the new menu's seem fantastic, but we did not have the best quality...the ribs in Parrot Cay dinner were great, by the way. There was a proliferation of tomato soup style sauces, stay away!
They started serving us again halfway through the cruise, they do this when 1-2% of guests are sick, apparently.
The airconditioning was off in our cabin from before supper, until approx 1hr...
I will email Guest services after the show, let them know about our challenges!)
at 9:30 but it is hard to gush about the marvelous cruise we never had!

see you later

I have been following your post and am totally distressed for you over how this trip worked out. I do hope that somehow something can be worked out to salvage your trip. I'd say you need a truck-load of pixie dust right about now.

CP: I thought you guys were enjoying your cruise. I didnt know you had such a bad time. We never had any of those problems. Maybe it was bad luck. I am sorry to hear what all happened.

Sorry things didn't turn out...it sooo frustrating but even more so when your trying to show off the things you love to someone else and things turn into a nightmare....

Hi Matt! Glad to see you got home safe and sound...honestly, apart from the suitcase being destroyed on the first day(hint - DON'T bring your Louis Vuitton bags, stick to bags that you won't miss too much, PC transfer to ship is NOT gentle) we made our own fun...The kids had a blast, were just happy to be together...Emma and I have fun together no matter where we are! Most of the "Challenges" occured in the last 4 days of the cruise...Food quality etc doesn't bother me that much, hey, they are trying to feed thousands of people at the same time, you can't expect 5 star...In January, (my last cruise) the food was better, we met other people in Castaway Cay that had also cruised after Christmas, and said the same...Maybe it is just an adjustment period to the new menus(the first Parrot key night was good, get the ribs) Actually, it all started Cozumel morning...I just wish we could try again, that's all.
To be fair,(Housekeeping & GS managers, respectively) Mira & Ray tried to help by giving us a cabin on Friday night to shower in...but by that time, it was after 11:30pm, we still had to pack, the kids were exhausted(and smelly!) So, needless to say, that didn't work. Actually, it just perturbed me more, knowing that they have these empty rooms, why couldn't they delegate one to us for the Eastern...Like I said before, I didn't want any freebies, just the opportunity to try again. I am now trying to convince Emma to come back when school is over, but as you can imagine, she is reluctant, airfare to Bangkok doesn't get seat sales very often! I am writing Guest communications now...apparently you can't talk to anyone over the phone, I've already tried calling DCL..maybe I should try making an appointment with someone so they can put a face to the letter! Although it will be "challenging" I will keep perservering! How can they fix a problem that they don't know about, right? Zurgswife - you hit the nail on the head...I keep trying to prove to Emma how great DCL is...I will keep everyone posted. Aren't theses boards amazing! I can't believe all the support and encouragement I have received in the past 2 days...(not to mention 700+ hits on the thread!WOW)It's nice to know that we aren't lost in the "vacuum"...you feel very alone when you are standing at the GS desk, let me tell you! When this is all over, I will post a trip report!

Hi CP - Sorry we didn't get to see you again before we left the ship - thought we might catch you at bfast at topsiders. We really thought that you would be sailing again this week, sorry it didn't work out. Hope you had a great time at WDW. We had a day at the parks and a day just relaxing and just got back home this morning ( Tues ) Please keep us posted on what happens with DCL. It was great meeting you guys - maybe we all could have done with another week, it would have been fun. Send us a PM when you get home.

Matt - will send you an email tomorrow with that photo - hope you had a good flight home

Wow...I am blown away. It is hard to believe we were on the same cruise. Except for 1 meal, I thought the food was pretty good...except for Topsiders. It was warm at Palo the night we went there...they said they had A/C out and did not have the part they needed. On Friday night the water was too warm...had to keep it all the way on the cold side, but fortunately it was useable. Our room was spotless. And yes, they definitely had some sickness onboard. I am so sorry your experience was not as magical as ours. What deck were you on? We were in a cat 10 on deck 7. Again, I am so sorry...:(
