You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

July 22, 2010 *continued*

More of Chris and Kristen's day:

When we last left off, Chris and I had just ridden RnRC standby and used our FPs for ToT. Somehow, I forgot to include this picture, something Kimmy would NOT be too happy with me for doing!

366.jpg

We had some time now before our lunch ressie and needed to get out of the heat. The day was getting so hot already. We hadn’t ridden the Great Movie Ride in December so I thought heading over there would be a good idea. Honestly, I’d never seen the line so long for this ride! It was all the way out of the room with the movie, wrapped through some of the queue out there. I took the opportunity to take some pictures…

We didn’t have any place to be for a while so I wasn’t concerned with us waiting a while for the ride, especially since we were in the A/C! Finally, it was our turn to ride through the movies!

371.jpg

Ok, I hate to admit this but I need to tell you guys…I was dozing off the entire ride! The A/C mixed with being out late the night before and up early this morning just took over me…I kept catching myself and shaking myself awake because if Chris would have noticed he would have made fun of me haha

Soon we were done with the GMR and hitting the stifling air outside woke me right up again! Another A/C attraction was in order now, the American Idol Experience! It was literally 11:55 at this point and the next show started at 12. I wasn’t sure if we’d make it before the doors closed so we quickly walked over hoping we’d be able to get in since Chris really loves this attraction…we made it in just in time! It was nice getting there last minute because we’ve seen this show a few times now and really didn’t need to see the preshow again lol

373.jpg

374.jpg

I don’t remember much about the three contestants except for that the one young guy’s dad (I think he was 17) was sitting in front of us. I felt bad because the boy’s mom, step dad and some other family were all the way on the other side of the theater and the dad was sitting in front of us all by himself. You could tell he was sooo excited to see his son up there performing because he was standing up and hootin’ and hollerin’ after he sang. All three were mediocre singers, in my opinion, and for the first time, the guy we voted for didn’t win. The girl won. To us, this is such an enjoyable show! We love all the interaction the audience gets to have and it’s honestly very entertaining!

It was about 12:30 now and we didn’t have time to squeeze much else in before our 1:05 ADR so we just headed over there early. If we couldn’t be seated it wasn’t a big deal because the waiting area at 50’s PTC is so fun!

375.jpg

We checked in early and they told us they probably wouldn’t be able to seat us until our actual ADR time so we went over and had a seat at the bar at the Tune In Lounge! I was dying for a cold, icy drink so I ordered a frozen margarita and Chris just got a coke. The waiting area was seriously packed so I figured we had some time to kill before we’d be seated.

376.jpg

377.jpg

378.jpg

I couldn’t believe how many people were crammed into that little lounge/waiting area! When we ate there for lunch in December there was virtually no one waiting! Surprisingly, about 10 minutes after we sat down our name was being called. I sent Chris to go tell the CM that we were here while I quickly paid for our drinks. The CM led us back here

379.jpg

380.jpg

In December we were on the totally opposite side of the restaurant so I was excited to be seated some place different this time. I’ll start off by saying that 50’s PTC is one of the places that is on Chris and I’s must do list for each time we come to Disney and I don’t see it coming off of that list anytime soon. We ate lunch here twice so far and think it’s seriously great!!!

Here’s my half dranken (I’m sure that’s not a word) margarita that was super yummy

381.jpg

From the last time we were there, we knew we needed to order a Peanut Butter and Jelly milkshake. If you have never tried one of these from 50’s, YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE MISSING OUT ON!! TRY ONE!! OMG it was heavenly!! Chris and I shared that. He ordered the chicken pot pie (I had that last time) and I ordered some kind of ham sandwich on whole grain bread. I guess that’s pretty boring so I didn’t take a picture of mine but I did take one of Chris’ pot pie

384.jpg

Oh yea and he ordered a side of French fries with gravy which we shared also

If you all remember, I was wearing my birthday button this day. Well towards the end of the meal our server (who told us she’d been working for Disney for 24 years!) came over with a birthday cupcake (I was too full to eat this!) and a card for me. She announced to the little area that we were sitting in that Kristen from Long Island was celebrating her 23rd birthday and then sent around a birthday card and had all the tables sign the card for me! I was soooo excited about this! I kept saying “Babe, they’re all signing the card FOR ME!” It was truly a moment where I remembered why I love going to Disney World so much. I don’t care what people say or how many times they ask me “Why are you going there AGAIN?!” because it’s times like that one where an explanation is just not necessary. Random strangers from different parts of the country were signing a birthday card for me and our server then lit my birthday candle and had everyone sing to me. I really could have cried, I was so happy at this point. Sadly, the picture of the signed card is one that Photobucket ate. I hate photobucket! Anyway, I still have the card and will keep it forever!

Soon we were done eating. We paid OOP for this meal so we settled our check and headed out. I made sure to tell everyone in our area THANK YOU as we walked out and they were all so sweet telling me Happy Birthday! It was about 2:00 and we were tired and hot so we planned to leave for a midday break.

386.jpg

On our way out though, we were stopped! These guys caught our eyes…

387.jpg

OMG, they were hilarious!!! They were trying to measure the length of the street from sidewalk to sidewalk and it was soooo funny!! Another part of Disney that you just don’t get at any other theme park! We stayed there and watched them until they were done. I really wish I would have gotten their whole act on video because it was THAT funny. So, in excellent spirits with full tummies, Chris and I headed out of DHS.

Up next for Kristen and Chris: A night of fun at Epcot!!

We did not see American Idol when we went. After reading your post, I now wish we did.
I have never seen anyone eat FF w/gravy. I am going to have to try that!

That was soooo sweet & special about the other guest signing your b/day card!

:cheer2: for a birthday cupcake and a card signed by fellow diners...most people I know want to vist as many different places as possible, but I'm like you and think that since I've found the absolute number one best holiday destination why mess with a winning formula!:cloud9:

so funny so see kimmi's robes!!! i totally missed them on the way out of ToT...

your frozen margharita looked divine:woohoo:

I so want one of those ToT robes!

I am dying to try a peanut butter & jelly milkshake at 50s PTC. I keep hearing such good things about it. Ohhh Chris ordered my favorite dish there- their chicken pot pie is so yummy. Awww how sweet everyone in your seating area signed your birthday card! :goodvibes

sounds like such a great day so far! Its so sweet that everyone signed the bday card for you, i love having those experiences at disney..i cant wait to be able to go on my birthday, but unfortunately ill have to wait until im out of school for that..also congrats on booking your next trip! i booked mine 2 weeks ago and im still smiling all the time! :goodvibes

I think we all been overtaken by the power of the sitting/darkness/AC combination in Disney World at one time or another. I know I about fell asleep in Hall of Presidents once and in Impressions de France another time. If I ever began to snore in an attraction, people would think they had suddenly been transported to Dinosaur! :scared1:

The pot pie looks really good. Makes me want to make one at home soon. :)

That is one of the coolest birthday stories that I have heard at WDW. How awesome that they all signed a card for you! I would have been totally overwhelmed! What a great morning for the two of you!

Tink - I love that pic of your FI & Little Guy where he is on his shoulders (of course) with the light behind them & LG is upside down. Soooo cute. The other one of my favorites is when LG is holding up the doodle sketch thing. His smile is so cute! Did you post Halloween pics of him this year? Did I miss them? I just posted some of Dylan on my PTR today.

You know I love the AIE too! It is such a fun show and I love how it's so realistic.

Aww, that is so cool about the birthday card! I really hope something neat like that happens to me when my sister and I go, even though it'll be a couple weeks after my birthday.

Awww, I'm totally with you, Kristen! That's why Disney is just so amazing-- where else would total strangers be so happy for you and be willing to sign a card for you?? A memory to cherish always! Congrats on the BC reservation!! $8 pp is amazing!!

Thanks! I love both of those pics too. He just melts my heart. :cloud9:

I haven't posted the Halloween pics yet! I will when I do my next update!

What a fun experience at 50's! I can't believe how crowded it was in the lounge! When we arrived at 11:00, it was very quiet in there!

It sounds like you had a fabulous time at 50's PTC! It's such a fun place! DD is petrified that she'll be forced to do something embarrassing! :lmao: I love that everyone signed your card! That it truly magical!!!

Next time you're there, definitely try and see AI. The finale show is probably the coolest of them all. We eat french fries with gravy only at diners lol At home we get them with mozzarella cheese on them too! I was sooo flattered and happy that everyone signed that card for me!

I hear what you're saying girl, I don't plan on going any place else until I'm able to go on two vacations a year...and even then, I'll probably want to go to WDW both times! haha

I so want one of those ToT robes!

I want a ToT robe too! I'm sure they're like $50 though so idk if I would be able to handle spending it on something I won't wear much lol

Definitely try that shake! I'm serious, you won't regret it. The pot pie is sooo yummy too, I'll probably get that again next time we go!

Hey girl, congrats on booking another trip! I didn't realize you went just this past August too! No TR?

When is your bday? Mine wasn't until August 4 so we were there a couple of weeks before mine. Having everyone sign the card and sing to me just made me so happy.

It is so easy to fall asleep during those cool, dark attractions! I also fell asleep during the video at the end of One Man's Dream a few trips ago which annoyed me because I really wanted to see the show! Too funny about people thinking they were transported to Dinosaur lol

The pot pie was sooo yummy, definitely better than the frozen ones I've eaten before!

I was ecstatic that everyone was doing that FOR ME, I was nearly in tears. I just couldn't believe it, it was overwhelming for sure!

You know I love the AIE too! It is such a fun show and I love how it's so realistic.

Aww, that is so cool about the birthday card! I really hope something neat like that happens to me when my sister and I go, even though it'll be a couple weeks after my birthday.

Sarah, I want you to know I've been reading your new TR at work, I just can't comment there. The computers block certain things including the buttons that allow me to comment but I'm only like one update behind! Just want you to know I'm there!

AIE is one of our DHS faves! It wasn't my real birthday when we were there so wear that button and hope for the best!

Awww, I'm totally with you, Kristen! That's why Disney is just so amazing-- where else would total strangers be so happy for you and be willing to sign a card for you?? A memory to cherish always! Congrats on the BC reservation!! $8 pp is amazing!!

The birthday in 50's is definitely something I'll remember forever. Totally amazing. And thanks! I'm over the top happy that we're staying at BCV!

What a fun experience at 50's! I can't believe how crowded it was in the lounge! When we arrived at 11:00, it was very quiet in there!

I couldn't believe how crowded it was either, especially because when we were there around the same time in December the place was empty!

It sounds like you had a fabulous time at 50's PTC! It's such a fun place! DD is petrified that she'll be forced to do something embarrassing! :lmao: I love that everyone signed your card! That it truly magical!!!

50's was great!! I think your DD would love it, even if she did get yelled at to eat her veggies or something lol but the CMs are pretty good and if they really sense she's not into it, they'll stop.

Wow, I've never seen 50's Prime Time that packed! And, you gave me something else I need to try -- a peanut butter and jelly milkshake.

50's Primetime is one our must do's also. Love the food and atomsphere! I would have teared up seeing that card also. How :cool1:!!!

And you are right, it is the little things like that which make us want to come back over and over again!

Thanks! yeah, my moms whole family went down(15 ppl) for my moms 40th bday and i organized the whole thing..unfortunately i have such a crazy schedule this semester i knew i wouldnt be able to keep up with a TR if i started one and since i never even finished my last one i decided not to do one..but i am most likely going to do one for my Jan trip since its only 4 days.

My bday is Sept 18th so its right after the semester starts so it would be really hard to get down to disney until after im out of school..i did celebrate it early on the aug trip for dinner at Ohana but i never wore the button or anything lol now that i think about it i probably should of but it never crossed my mind!

One of our highlights of our trip was the streetmosphere too! They are so hilarious!!

Mmm... that pot pie looked heavenly!! YUM!

I didn't realize that I was 20 updates behind! OK not that many but I just caught up on your DHS ...errrrr MGM morning!

What a great breakfast at H&V! The little guy was having a blast!!!!

What are the chances of bumping into Kristen in that mad dash for TSM FPs? Not only was Long Island on that pic but Long Island's neighbor was on that pic too! CONNECTICUT!!! :lmao:

You guys had a full morning! Kristen, we have had a cinnamon roll from Main St. Bakery before and it is soooo guuuuuud! (Liesa reference ;)) I can imagine that Starring Rolls was just as guuuuuuud!

I'm glad the little guy wasn't scared in VoTLM... we missed that last time so it is on our list for December!

After a while the heat just starts taking a toll on you. I don't blame you for going back for a rest. Plus POP is so close to DHS.

I always say I want to try 50PT but it just never happens.... :rolleyes1

I love 50's PTC! The CM's there are so much fun. That is so sweet that everyone signed a card for your birthday!

I also loved the Streetmosphere pictures b/c those are some of our favorite actors. We looooove the guy in the glasses :rotfl2:

Hey Tim!! It's okay...I understand getting behind on TR's. Just glad you're back!

It was a great meal at H&V. By far one of our favorites of the trip!

I was so happy Kristen and Chris found us in the crowd! I texted her where we were and they just weaved their way up to us!

I was glad he wasn't scared in VOTLM too! It was so much fun showing him that show since it is one of my favorites.
