You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

Josh told me to bring it up again in December once we're settled in the house. Buttttt, I think that means YES! :thumbsup2 I think the plan is to just book through Disney and not rent points this time since we aren't going to be booking right away. Either way, YAY!

July 21, 2010 *continued*

Now that we’ve seen the rest of Kristen and Chris’s day and they’re back in their room, sleeping and dreaming about tomorrow, let’s rewind back to earlier in the day and get caught up with my group! We left off just watching Nemo the Musical and deciding where to go next.

Uncle and Cuz were really wanting to ride EE, so Fiancé and I headed there with them while Mom, Dad, and Sis took Little Guy back to Pizzafari to get some pizza because he was wanting some. They said that after he was done eating, they were probably going to head back to the room.

So, to EE we went! The wait said 50 minutes, which I was surprised it was only that. Uncle and Cuz didn’t care what the wait was because they were getting in line no matter what, since this was their only AK day. I decided to see how long the wait really was. From walking into the line and loading onto our train, it was 35 minutes. To pass the time in line, we decided to all make a bet of what time we would be loading. It came down to the wire between Uncle and Fiancé’s bet. Uncle ended up winning, but if we had stood there a minute or two longer, Fiancé would’ve won. We decided we were going to play this game in every line from now on.

The ride itself was fun, like always. Cuz was mad though because he didn’t see the Yeti at the end.

As we were walking out of the gift shop, Uncle asked if we could go see what the wait time was for KRR. So, we headed that way. As we walked by Yak & Yeti, I said in my head “See you in a few days!” We made it back to KRR, but the wait time said 80 minutes so we decided to pass on that.

It was so hot and we were getting tired, so we decided to head back to the Contemporary and rest and swim. As we’re walking up to our bus stop line, we see that it’s long. Then, as we’re walking to the back of the line we hear our names. It was Mom, Dad, Sis, and Little Guy!! Of course, Little Guy ran back to us. But, when the bus came, we had him go back up to where he was so he could get on that bus. We knew we weren’t going to make it on there with them, and we really didn’t want to cut all the people in line that were waiting behind them. So, we told them that we’d see them back in our rooms.

As their bus pulled away, we waved to them. Little Guy was so confused on why we didn’t ride with them. Maybe 5 minutes later, another bus pulled up! We were so happy to be in the air conditioning by that point. As we rode back to the Contemporary, we guessed that Little Guy had fallen asleep on their bus ride back. And as we drove through WDW property, I was busy taking everything in….the glimpse of ToT and the big Mickey ears as we go past MGM (yes I still call it MGM), the monorail track as we get closer to the Epcot area, then when I see the MK gates, I always get butterflies in my stomach. It takes me back to the feeling I used to have when we’d come when I was little. Then, as we go under the monorail tracks and past the turn to WL, I know that my most favorite view is coming up: the Castle! And that’s when I realized how much I had missed staying at the Contemporary or the Poly. The MK will always be my favorite park, and there’s just something about staying that close to it…such a great feeling!

As we made it back up to our floor, Fiancé and I parted ways with Uncle and Cuz. As we came into our room, we heard a familiar little voice- Little Guy! He didn’t want to take a nap in his room. He wanted to take a nap in our room! So, they were having trouble getting to him actually lay down and close his eyes, haha. We closed the blinds, shut off the t.v. and all laid down and ‘pretended’ to go to sleep. Maybe 10 minutes later, he was out like a light!

So, Fiancé and I quietly got up, changed into our swimming suits, and headed down to the pool. It was nice to swim just the two of us for once. We talked about how much fun we were having, and how we are now seeing WDW in a different perspective now that we have a little one. I told him I couldn’t wait to come with our own kids some day. He agreed!

We kept track of the time and swam for about an hour until we needed to go up and get ready for our dinner ADR. As we got back in the room, Mom, Dad, and Sis were all ready to go and just trying to get Little Guy to wake up. As soon as I started waking him up, he started pretend sleeping. I said, “Aha! Don’t you dare smile!” Then I’d tickle him. He was trying so hard not to smile, then he finally opened his eyes and said “BOO!” We all pretended to scream and then he said, “It’s okay guys. I was just pretending.” haha

So, he hung out in our room some more while Fiancé and I hurried and got ready. Then, we headed down to Grandma and Grandpa’s/Uncle’s room to get Little Guy into his outfit I had planned for the night. He was wearing the same shorts as during the day, but a different shirt. This time it was a navy shirt that had Grumpy on the front and said “Back off- I’m Grumpy!” The shirt totally relates to Little Guy because he can get quite grumpy when he’s either 1) tired and not wanting to go to sleep or 2) tired and not wanting to wake up.

After I got him ready to go, we all headed to the elevator around 5:30, which gave us an hour until our 6:30 ADR. Once in the lobby, we headed back out towards the pool to get to the boat dock. As we walked out there, I explained to Little Guy that we were getting on a boat to go to WCC, the place where we had to yell for ketchup. I had been practicing our yelling “KETCHUP” for awhile before our trip. He was so excited to finally be going.

Just our luck, there was a boat just pulling up to the dock as we made it there. As we left the Contemporary, we all waved bye. Once we made it to the WL dock, Little Guy and I kept cheering “We’re here! We’re here!” I checked the time and it was getting close for the geyser to go off! So, we decided to stop and wait for that to go off.

Walking to the geyser area:

261-1.jpg

Little Guy kept asking, “Now?! Is it going to go off now?!” I kept having to say, “No..just a few more minutes.” He’d sigh and then rest his head back on Fiancé’s head, haha. Finally, I told Little Guy when it was going to go off any second. He started clapping. By that time, other groups of people had started to form around the geyser as well. Then, it started! Once it got really high, Little Guy said “Whoa, that’s really high!”

akdisney259.jpg

Once it was done, we all clapped and then headed towards the lobby.

262-2.jpg

First, I wanted to take Little Guy up to the top of the waterfall.

263-2.jpg

Fiancé held him up so he could see down to where the rest of our group was standing. *After we got home and got our pictures printed, we realized that I had taken a picture at the same time that Mom took a picture!*:

Looking at the rest of the group from the top:

264-2.jpg

And from Mom’s point of view down below:

momdisney120.jpg

I thought that was funny!

Once Little Guy was done looking around, we headed back to the rest of the group.

267-2.jpg

I was so excited to be back at WL! There’s just something about it that makes it feel so inviting and cozy.

265-2.jpg

We decided it was time to go inside and look around the lobby. We went in the doors by Roaring Forks, so we had that big long ramp to go up. Little Guy and Uncle decided they were going to skip and hop the whole way up. It was hilarious. Once in the lobby, I hurried Little Guy over to something very dear to some special DIS’ers:

270-2.jpg

He thought it was awesome. Then, he wanted to go in the bridge.:

momdisney123.jpg

Yes, thank you for that face!!

While we stood on the bridge, Fiancé and I explained to him how the water started here and then went outside and all the way out to the water fall and to the pool. He thought that was pretty cool.

Then, I had to take him over to rub Bear’s nose for good luck. As you can see, he had to wrinkle his nose to show that we were rubbing a nose:

272-2.jpg

We got Sis and Cuz over to the totem pole too, so Mom could get a good pic of us all to put in our WL totem pole picture frame that we have at home.:

momdisney129-1.jpg

While we were checking everything out in the lobby, Dad went and got us checked in at WCC. Grandma and Grandpa found some comfortable chairs to relax in. They picked a spot where they could still see everything in the lobby good and still be able to watch us exploring. Before we knew it, our buzzer was going off!

We were seated at a great big table along the side, so we had a good view of the lobby.

momdisney125.jpg

Our waitress was one of the best we’ve ever had. She was so nice. While everyone else ordered the skillet, Mom and I both had the pasta and I think Little Guy had chicken strips. Before any of the waiters/waitresses started up the crazy antics, Little Guy was able to get some coloring in:

akdisney262.jpg

Then, we started hearing some yelling from across the restaurant. Someone was asking for ketchup! I told Little Guy what they were doing and he was ready to do it too! A few minutes later, a waiter yelled and whistled to get everyone’s attention. It was time to do the hokey-pokey! I got Little Guy down and I helped him through the whole thing:

akdisney266.jpg

He had the biggest smile on his face, just looking around and seeing the whole restaurant up and doing this crazy dance. That’s when I knew it was a great idea to come here with him. When it was all over, everyone clapped and cheered. He got back in his seat next to me and kept asking everyone if they saw him doing it.

Once our food came, I told Little Guy to nicely ask our waitress if he could yell for ketchup. She was more than happy to let us. She said, “On the count of three, everyone at the table has to yell WE NEED KETCHUPPPPPPP! 1...2...3!” And we all yelled it. As people from other tables started bringing bottle after bottle of ketchup, Little Guy kept laughing. I can’t tell you how many bottles we ended up with! Then, I explained to him that when somebody else yells for ketchup, we have to take all the bottles to their table. So, as we were eating, we eventually heard someone yelling for ketchup. Sis, Little Guy, and I rounded up all the bottles and took it to their table, which happened to be way in the back of the restaurant. As we walked past tables, Moms and Dads would laugh at how many bottles Little Guy was carrying. I kept asking if he wanted me to take some and he said “No. I want to do it.” He got a kick out of setting all those bottles down on their table. He smiled at the family and then ran back to our table.

Out of everything on his plate, Little Guy wanted to eat Fiancé’s corn. He loved it!:

akdisney270.jpg

I think he ate two more after that one!

As we were getting close to dessert, they announced that it was time for the horse race! Cuz and Little Guy ran over to get their horses. We had the perfect table because they were going to go right by us. As Little Guy got closer to us, I bent down so he could see me and know where we were.:

momdisney127.jpg

He grinned and galloped past us. The whole restaurant was all hootin’ and hollerin’. As he came back by us again, we cheered louder. He was getting a kick out of everyone being loud and having fun together. That’s the great part about this restaurant.

*Continued in next post*

*Continued from previous*

As our desserts came, we saw 4 glasses of champagne on our waitress’ tray. She hands 2 for Grandma and Grandpa and 2 for Fiancé and I. She told us that us 4 had to get up and come to the end of the table. She yells and whistles to get everyone’s attention. Then, she announces that we were there celebrating Grandma and Grandpa’s anniversary and Fiancé and I’s engagement.

akdisney276.jpg

akdisney275.jpg

Everyone clapped and cheered for us. Mom ran across the restaurant and bent down so she could get a better view of us:

akdisney278.jpg

Then, our waitress goes on to announce that we were going to be having a kissing contest! Whoever kissed the longest was going to win! We all started laughing. The whole restaurant had to count to 3, then we had to kiss.

akdisney279.jpg

It ended up being a tie! We both stopped at the same time. Everyone clapped again for us and we sat back down. We thought it was hilarious and such a fun moment that we’ll always remember from the trip. Our waitress asked our table if anybody needed anything else, and Dad says “Can I have a little iced tea?” He meant, “Can I have a little more iced tea?” Our waitress comes back and hands him this:

akdisney280.jpg

A little tea! We all started laughing. I think I laughed so hard I was crying. We were having so much fun just being together. WCC was a success. As we finished up and headed back out to the lobby, we decided just to head back to the Contemporary and hang out by the pool since Little Guy didn’t get to swim in the afternoon. So, back to the boat dock we went.

274-2.jpg

I took a pic of the sign…I am just now noticing the sticker that was on there! I can’t believe I didn’t notice it then.:

276-2.jpg

I told Sis to pose for me so I could get a good pic of her shirt. She made this face:

277-2.jpg

I said to her, “You do know that’s going on the trip report, right?” She said, “Yeah, I know!” haha

We had to wait a bit for a boat, so we were busy looking at the fish and messing around taking pics.

This was our view to the right:

280-1.jpg

It was such a nice night!

After watching many seasons of America’s Next Top Model, we have heard so many picture taking tips, one of them being when you don’t smile with your lips, smile with your eyes. So, Sis told Little Guy to take a picture with her and to ‘smile with his eyes’. This is how that turned out:

279-1.jpg

HAHA. We laughed as we looked at the pic on my camera screen. As we looked back up, we heard that familiar sound- our boat was coming!

282-1.jpg

Little Guy asked where we were going and I told him we were going back to swim! He thought that sounded like a good idea. As we headed back to the Contemporary, we could see the glow from the main tower’s lights and BLT. I just think everything at WDW is so beautiful all lit up at night. The sun was almost done setting and the sky just looked beautiful behind the Contemporary. As we got to the dock, I had to take pics:

283-1.jpg

284-1.jpg

As we made it up to the main tower, we decided to finally get our traditional pic in the Mickey ears. We let Little Guy and Cuz take our spots.

momdisney132.jpg

I do have to admit though, I am sad that the ears don’t light up anymore.

We headed back up to the room to get changed into our suits. I texted Kristen and let her know where we were if they still wanted to come over and watch the fireworks and swim. Then, we headed back down to the pool. Of course, Fiancé and Little Guy headed to the slide. As we were enjoying the pool and watching Little Guy have fun, I saw Kristen and Chris walking out of the lobby. I got out and met them. Fiancé was busy with Little Guy, so it was just me that went up to the Concourse Level with them. I took them out to the observation deck and we picked a spot to stand for the fireworks. Of course, there were people already sitting on the benches in the preferred spot, so we were stuck back with the monorail track in the way. I had them look up and see where we had stood on the stairs the night before to watch the show. We talked some more about how the rest of our day went, then we could hear it starting! I was in love with these new fireworks. I could not wait to see them from actually at the MK. Like I probably have said before, I was nervous about not being able to see Wishes the whole trip. I thought I was going to hate it! But, it was great.

After the finale was over and we all clapped and cheered, we headed back down to the lobby. I showed them where the bathrooms were so they could change into their suits. I headed back out to the pool to see if everyone was still there. They were heading back up to the room so Little Guy could go to sleep, but Fiancé was waiting for us. Mom said she was going to come back down with Kristen and Chris’ Luau pic. I showed her where we were going to have our stuff so she knew where to put it.

Once Kristen and Chris came out, we got in the pool. We didn’t really swim, just stood around and talked. After awhile, Kristen and I decided to head to the hot tub. Then, the guys decided to join us. After a few minutes, they decided it was too hot for them and got back in the pool. After a few minutes of talking just us two, we joined them in the pool. After awhile, Kristen and I went back into the hot tub, haha. I can’t tell you how many times we switched from the pool and the hot tub, but it was fun just hanging out and talking about everything and anything.

It was almost 11:30 when we decided to call it a night. We made plans to meet up the next day either at rope drop or right after it at MGM…okay..DHS. My group had a breakfast ADR at H&V at 8:15, so it just depended on when we got done eating since rope drop’s at 9. We hugged and went our separate ways. As Fiancé and I rode the elevator up to our floor, we said to each other, “It’s like we’ve known them forever!” We just clicked so great. We couldn’t wait to see them again.

As we got to our room, everyone was already asleep or almost asleep. We quietly got ready for bed. As we laid down and I closed my eyes, all I could think about were the great memories that we had made throughout the day. It was so much fun being there all together. I didn’t want the week to end.

~Up next: Morning at DHS

Hahaha, I absolutely love how Little Guy's shoes are off in the picture of yall eating at WCC. Jake does that all the time!

Trent thinks we should eat at Whispering Canyon on every trip. He loves that place! We are going to give Mickey's Backyard BBQ a try this summer, I think, and I am guessing the food will be pretty much the same, so he should like it.

We remind each other of the silly pictures that will be going on the reports, as well. No one is safe on a Disney trip.

Your grandparents look so sweet.
I hope your dad learned his lesson about the way to ask for tea.
Next time, he can ask for a lot more tea and get one of those huge mugs! ::yes::

GREAT update Tink!

How funny -- I just posted about WCC today too.

I like the dual pictures, that you took and your mom took. It's neat to look back and forth at those.

I didn't know they did the "little tea" thing at WCC, that's hilarious!

And I love the "smile with your eyes" shot. :lmao:

haha, I'm so glad you noticed that! He was tired of wearing his shoes and asked me if he could take them off, and I said "Sure why not?!" He was in-between me and Fiance so it's not like everyone in the restaurant saw it.

Thanks, glennbo!

That is funny! I will be heading over to your TR now!

It is fun looking back and forth at them!

It was so funny when she brought that out to Dad.

 Models in the making.

WCC looks a lot of fun. The little tea cup your dad got served is hilarious!

Haha sis and I love referencing Top Model too. Tyra can be so ridiculous but she's really entertaining to watch!

Great update! My son LOVES taking his shoes off in restaurants. I always feel the same as you...if no one else knows anyway, what's the difference? The dual pictures are really cool. It's funny to see the man waving in both pictures...like you literally did take them at the exact same time :)

That's great you had such a good time at WCC. Perfect place for a fun family night :)

It was such a great night! Thanks for reading!

What a fun update! I have always wanted to try WCC, but have yet to convince DH into going there. It sounds like a fun time.

Love the little tea. :rotfl:

Have to say my fave pics are still the ones of litte guy and your DF (your men). I abosolutely love the one of the little guy resting his head on DF's head. Plus I always love shots of people walking from behind, so of course I love the shot of the two of them walking hand in hand.

I am also dying to visit WL. It looks like such a pretty resort and I want to see that totem pole in person!

Love your family shot in the Mickey ears!

I loved this update! We are eating at WCC for the first time on our next trip and I am looking forward to it. I honestly don't know much about it...just that there are lots of inside jokes, etc. so it was really fun to read your update. I'll have to start working on the hokie pokie with Dylan.

I want to get a picture in the Mickey ears too. We have never seen the ears before, since we usually take the monorail to that hotel. It is on the path to the boats right?

Wow I love your updates!!! Man...I just cannot wait to meet you guys!!! I love hearing your stories and all the memories...it all just seems so enchanting!! Even the simplest moments are so fun to read and just make me all happy!! haha...seriously. I love it!! Can't wait for more!!

Oh my gosh, you guys will have a blast. Are you eating there for lunch or dinner? Because I think they changed it to where they only do the crazy stuff at dinner now.

Yes, once you're on the lobby level of the Contemporary go out towards the boat dock/pool. Just keep walking straight and you won't miss it.
