all day. You got ponchos on, what shoes are you wearing? Kids shoes? Do you pack for a rainy day? Do you continue to walk around the parks with wet squishy shoes?

We are headed to WDW for a week in Oct with our 9 and 5 year olds.
Thanks!

We go in Late November. So when it rains, it's kind of cold. Last time we were there we were at the MVMCP and it rained and persisted for over an hour (and blowing too). We were in line for photos with the 7 Dwarfs (which they don't make an appearance often, at least not all together.) but because of the rain, they had to go in. The line was long but we had made it near the front, so we stayed. After about an hour in the cold rain, and not looking like it was clearing, we called it and left for warmer dryer place.

However, if it were summer I'd enjoy it. I don't like walking around in wet sneakers though. Particularly because they can take a while to dry, so unless you have a second pair, I'd probably get out of the rain if I could. If I were wearing sandals, however, I'd be there for a while. Problem is, is that sandals can give you blisters easier with long days of walking. Mine aren't too bad and I will usually wear them on a day, but alternate with sneakers on other days.

It rained a fair bit when we were in WDW in late April 2014 (unseasonably early thunderstorms with periods of torrential downpours). I happened to be wearing my Keen sandals on rainy days, which provided a decent grip on wet pavement and good support for walking around the parks all day.

With real rain rather than a short shower, we prefer real rain gear rather than cheap ponchos. Our kids hatted ponchos as preschoolers so we always took kids rain coats and mostly took ours too. Wear quick drying clothes, never jeans and a baseball type hat under the raincoat to direct the water away from your face. We wear crocs in the rain. If it is cold, we wear socks with them. We will take dry socks, shirts, and sometimes pants and jackets if it is cold and stash them in a locker if the rain is predicted to stop. It is a lot of trouble but we have had some VERY uncrowded days were almost everything was a walk on.....!! So worth it.

Another vote for Keens! Also, the "basic" (still pricey, but worth it) OluKai flip flops for me. DH wears Tevas.

We always go in the summer months (where it doesn't rain....it monsoons! ). We always take our heavy duty ponchos (never the cheapo versions-been there, done that, got soaked), and gallon size ziplock bags to put them in after we're done wearing them. We take at least 2 pairs of shoes per person. Sadly, yes. We do squish around. :-)

I can't do flip flops for very long. Good in the shower or around the pool, but that's about it. I can do a good pair of Sandals though. Different Strokes.... :)

For our trip last week, we had one rainy morning. We had the Disney rain ponchos on and were all in sneakers. DH had an umbrella...DD8 and I didn't bother with our umbrellas. Mid-morning it became a torrential downpour so we got under the overhang by Pirates and considered waiting there to ride it out but then decided to head to Tiki Room. Now DD8 has a fun memory of us walking, not running, through the torrential rain. The ponchos kept our upper clothes dry but our pants, sneakers and sock were soaked. After Tiki Room, the rain slowed but we stayed in the park and had lunch at LTT with squishy shoes and soaked pants.

After lunch, we headed back to our room to change and put on dry sneakers....we always bring two pairs of sneakers each for just such an occasion.

We take athletic sandals. (I don't have a particular brand, Keens seems pretty popular.) Good support, and your feet dry quickly. If the weather is too cold for those, bring two pair of sneakers per person. I also have a pair of really comfortable lace up all weather boots from LL Bean that I like.

My go to Disney shoe are Chaco's. They are great for doing a lot of walking and dry very fast if you are caught in those Florida rain showers :)

Aerosole sandals. I prefer less shoe in the rain because you dry quicker.

It rained on us one day (quite hard actually) on our last trip. We all just had tennis shoes on - but we all had a few changes of socks. We could all handle the soggy legs below our ponchos as long as out feet were dry.

Added bonus: steady rain = short lines. We rode Barnstormer 3 times in a row without every getting off the ride. Kids didn't care it was wet - and if they didn't care, we didn't care!

The only problem with riding some of those rides in the rain is that the rain can "Hurt" at higher speeds.

Another vote for Keens sandals, they are a bit pricier especially for kiddos who outgrow them before they outwear them but my kids will live in them in the summer months and they can bike and scooter in them because they have toe protection. They aren't instant dry but much better then wet socks and sneakers

We were there for 10 days last summer. It rained for at least a part of every single day. We got really good at dodging the rain and staying mostly dry. (Download the weather channel app that sends rain alerts for your location.) That being said, the first day touring in the rain isn't so bad. Its the second day. We had been at the park all morning in a light drizzle. The forecast was for heavy rain all afternoon and evening. We ditched our plans and returned to the resort for the rest of the day. No one felt like battling the elements.

We just brought spare sneakers and alternated them while the wet ones dried. But, I admit to wishing we had shelled out the $$ for Teva or Keens. Flip-flops are a no-no for rainy days for us - we slip and slide in those, I don't know how people do it!
