Last month we stayed at CSR for our first trip to WDW with our littles (ages 3 & 5). I really loved the resort, although admittedly we didn't spend a lot of "awake" time there.

We are thinking ahead to going back to WDW next year (in early December this time) and trying to decide where to stay. Although I would love to try out a deluxe, I personally can't justify that difference in cost for our family. I keep thinking of all we could do with the difference in cost between a mod & deluxe and would prefer to have that money to spend enjoying Disney.

I have read several posts that talk about CSR not being "Disney" or "child friendly" and I am wondering what exactly is "more Disney or child-friendly" about the other moderates. (My kids actually loved the resort, the pools, the playground area, etc). I understand that the All Stars might appeal more to our littles with their theming and the large characters, etc and we may consider them. I am just trying to figure out what would be more Disney or child-friendly at CBR or POR.

I was hoping some of you who have experienced the other resorts might be able to shed some light on this for us.

Thank you,
Carol

My thoughts, if you've found a resort your family really likes, why change? Especially at Xmas time when the prices are at a peak. If you stay at a deluxe & you don't like it as much, you'll be so disapointed. I'd save the "resort changing" for another time when Disney has another fabalous package like the "fairytail".

During your stay, you can visit 1 or 2 other resorts. You'll get a pretty good "feeling" on whether or not you'd enjoy staying at that resort.

How about Pop Century? Check out the pictures at wdwig.com and mousesavers.com (scroll down to Part 3 of Mary's trip report).

AS Movies would be great, too. I would give the values a try. I really love CSR for the adult atmosphere (even though my 5yo woudl LOVE it). In comparing CBR, I feel that CSR is more upscale. I don't know what would make CBR more child friendly, except that the pool slide is VERY short.

We just love PO. Especially Riverside, but if you have young children, it's easier to get around FQ and you can use the amenities at Riverside. FQ has a Dragon slide that kids love. You can't beat the boat ride to Downtown Disney which is WONDERFUL. We were supposed to stay at POFQ for the third time this past May but they closed the resort unexpectedly. We were upset to move to another resort, but it gave us the opportunity to experience the POLY at a very reduced rate. It was incredible there, and very easy with the monorail, but we wouldn't hesitate to go back to PO. The boat ride makes it seem more like a deluxe resort. And even though you have monorail convenience at the deluxe resorts, the bus transportation is not the best. We really couldn't complain at PO. Sorry, we have never been to CSR or CBR.

One more thing.... All Star Movies is great fun for kids! I think it embodies more of the Theme Park atmosphere than any other resort. We love it as well. Good luck!

Let me put in a good word for CSR. We don't find it "un-Disney" or "not child friendly" at all! We find it beautiful and well-themed, our favorite moderate next to POFQ (still closed!). I don't think you'll feel as if you missed out on the Disney experience by staying there--in fact, we're staying there this Xmas, ourselves.

Let me add that what some people find "un-disney" about CSR stems from the fact that it is a convention resort and one frequently (though not always) finds conventioneers there. They've never been a distraction for us. Quite frankly, we've hardly noticed them.

The pool is huge and lovely, the playground is fun, and Pepper Market is IMHO the best food court around.

Good luck deciding on a resort.
