I postsed this elsewhere but would like opinions please. ;)
We're flying to Ft Myers on 12/19 on Spirit. They have changed the flight time from 6 am to 5:37 pm. When I originally booked, there was a 6 am flight as well as an afternoon flight (I want to say 4:30ish). As far as I recall, both were nonstops. I did look on the Spirit website, and there are flights landing in Fl in daylight (I can't drive too well at night) in Tampa and Ft Lauderdale. Tampa has only 1 nonstop flight (there is also a later flight with a layover) and Ft Lauderdale has 3 or 4 flights that day (I think 2 of them are nonstop, and 2 have layovers), although those times are later, one of the nonstops is early enough that we would land in daylight.
My questions are:
1. Could Spirit actually change the time of the original flight again?
2. Even if I did change my flight to land elsewhere, with more flights on that day, would there be more of a chance THAT flight could also be changed?
3. I have done nothing at this point, but how long should I wait if I actually do want to change my flight?
I have flown Spirit many times, and have never had a flight change.
Your experiences don't have to be specifically with Spriit....
I am wondering what anyone else has experienced.
TIA

1. Yes
2. Your changing of flights wouldn't affect the chances of a flight change.
3. I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter. With Spirit, you don't get the rebooking options like you do on legacy airlines.

If I'm reading their website right, if you want to change your reservation, you can... for $115/passenger.

When I spoke with customer service the other night, I was told since they changed the flight time, I could book a different flight with no fees.
I was just looking for logistics I suppose. :)

After some research, I found out that Spirit didn't change just our flight; they've changed their entire schedule. Some flights are available every day, some were available every day and are now only available on certain days of the week, etc.
I am thinking we will land in Ft Lauderdale and drive since we need a car anyway. (lightbulb smiley)
