Hey, fellow DISers!!!!
I just wanted to throw out there that I am a concierge on Disney property so if anyone needs help or has any questions about what the absolute most up to date information is, I'm standing on Disney property as we speak. Fire away!

Hi, I do have a question and am so glad to see that you posted that you are able to help. We will be in Epcot on October 23rd,a week from tomorow :cool1: . We would hope to do Spaceship Earth on the way out of the park, so we can get to the more crowded attractions first thing. Anyway, we will do FW and then head over to WS for a 7:30pm ADR. Bottom line is, how late will Spaceship Earth be open till ? Thanks so much for posting and being willing to help others... A true Disser :goodvibes

Since when do Disney concierge (or any Orlando concierge, for that matter)give their services away on the internet?

If you ARE a Disney concierge, you may want to bear in mind Disney reads this board. Your job is surely in jeopardy as of now.

If you aren't, but want to be, maybe you want to state it that way so people know who they are really dealing with. :)

Spaceship Earth usually stays open until the park closes at 9pm! Have fun!

Some off-the-wall questions here...how'd you get your position as concierge and what's your most memorable experience? It seems like a fun job!

Wow! Sorry for upsetting anyone! I AM a concierge on property but I do NOT work for Disney, I work for an outside company. I also run my own Disney planning company. I volunteered my services because I love doing what I do. I love helping people plan their trips and anything I can do to make someone's stay more magical is my pleasure, which I believe is what makes Disney people so great! I have no reason to lie or cover up who I am and I resent anyone saying so. I simply thought I'd offer my help. I am not trying to solicit business or ask for anything. Just wanted to help out fellow DISers who love this place like I do. My apologies.

A rather bold statement.

Jenn,
thanks for offering your help. I have a question for you. We will be down visiting the first week in December and would like to see the Osbourne lights at MGM. I read that they start viewing at 6PM. Is it possible to go over the MGM at 6 or up to 7:00 to view the lights, or won't they let you in that late? Also is it true that they only let you view them for an hour? Thanks in advance. :)

I have a very deep love of all things Disney, as my dad raised me on it! That passion for it made me have the desire to help other people. After working in the world of hotel front desks, I moved on to concierge and I love it!

I'd have to say my most memorable Disney experience, though, is getting married on a Disney cruise last year! It was amazing!

As long as the park is still open, they will still let you in the gate, no matter how late. Now, typically, they keep Spectacle of Lights open until AFTER the park has closed, so that guests who went to Fantasmic can still come back to see the lights. They will no loger allow guests to eneter the park at this point, however. Only guests who are alreayd in the park can go back to Spectacle of Lights. As far as only viewing them for an hour, I have never heard of that. There is no time limit on how long a guest can stay in that areas and they are typically open for at least 2 hours per night. Hope that helps.

What is a concierge???
I know this is probably a dumb question, but I have no idea...Also what does it mean when people stay on the "concierge level"?

Well, the definaition of a "concierge" would vary depending on where you are what hotel you are in. The generally accepted form of a concierge in the travel-world is someone who handles all of the "extras" that you may need while traveling.... information, dining reservations, tickets for local events (or the parks), as well as arranging flower deliveries, helping with any special occasions such as proposals, birthdays, etc.

When people say "concierge level" it means that the hotel has a special level. (In some hotels you have to pay for this service and in some hotels it is only offered to VIPs or frequent guests.) This level usually will have upgraded rooms or suites with upgarded amenities like robes, bottled water, and better quality soaps, shampoos, etc. This level also, in some hotels, will have a concierge lounge in which they serve a light breakfast, snacks and cordials. And of course, a concierge level will offer concierge services, meaning that you have a staff who can assist you with dining, shopping and anything that you need.

I don't have anything to ask right now but wanted to say thanks for your willingness to share your knowledge and help others. :goodvibes

You're welcome. Happy to assist anyone with anything to do with Disney when I can. I am a total Disney Dork, as I will freely admit to anyone and nothing makes me happier than talking about Disney! But I'm sure most of you feel that way, too!

Hi fltink :)

What celebrities have you dealt with? any good stories for us?

That is one party of my job that I can not share with you, unfortunatly. As a concierge you do have to have very strong integrity and a sense of privacy when it comes to the clients taht you deal with. I can tell you that some of the best AND worst guests that I've dealt with are some celebrities! :rolleyes1

I hail from the small town of Clinton MA-- Once in the Guiness Book of World's records for having the most bars a lovely distinction there let me tell ya... But now I live in the very small town of Hubbardston MA
(Both located in central Massachusetts about 30 min from Worcester)

I saw that you are originally from Massachusetts where did you live in our lovely state?

I am also a Disney fanatic, we are leaving in 34 days to make the trip in the Motor Home, we will be stopping off in Stone Mountain Georgia for a few days first though. We will be arriving the day before Thanksgiving, I can't wait I hear they transform WDW overnight with all the decorations. I want to take a monorail ride the day we arrive then on Thanksgiving to see the differences. It will be our first MVMCP too, sooooo excited!!!!

I am from Watertown, Mass, just west of Boston. The holidays are an awesome time of year to be here! But I will warn you so that you are not disappointed, because of the amount of decorating Disney has to do, last year they started well in advance of Thanksgiving. So, though you will get to see all of the wonderful decorations, it may not be quite so "overnight" . But you will LOVE it!!!! It is gorgeous around here!
