I posted a similar question on the DVC board.

I would like to get a non-DVC point of view on OKW.

If you have stayed there...

Did you enjoy your stay? Did you find transportation to be good or bad?

Usually when we stay at a resort I like the quick walk to breakfast or activities, etc. What is this like at OKW? If my kids say they want to go play in the arcade and it's dark and a bus ride away is it going to be a pain?

I know everything is somewhat spread out and I can't just run down to the lobby and get something like I could at a deluxe resort or even some of the other villas that are less spread out.

I'd like to hear your opinions on a stay at OKW with a 4 and 6 year old.

Thanks

I am a DVC member, however, I am talking to my friend who is not a DVC member but has gone with us on several occasions.

OKW was a favorite for the HOME AWAY FROM HOME experience. They loved the bus system as OKW has their own bus service. BWV and BCV share busses with the Swan and Dolphin.

She doesn't think that it would be a pain to take the bus to go to the front of the resort to play in the arcade. Great family time! We never even went to the pool, because we were in the building next to the small pools.

She believes that you might like Board Walk better with the kids, the pool has a slide.

Hope this helps.

I am not a dvc member. My husband, my then 6yo granddaughter and myself stayed at OKW last year for 7 nights after staying at AKL for 7 nights.

Here is our opinion. While it had become our new favorite resort,
we are returning for 10 nights in July with my daughter and family, I do think there are a few things to consider. We stayed in the Turtle Pond loop (which we liked) we were within walking distance to the pool and arcade. That area is not within close walking distance to the restaurants.

We liked the spaciousness and homelike feeling of the villa itself. It was more to our liking being lighter and brighter compared to the relatively dark AKL. This being said my granddaughter liked AKL better. She loved the animals. The choices (types) of restaurants were better if this is an issue. She also liked the arcade and pool better there.

If you are getting a studio and plan on eating out and don't want or need the amenities I don't know if this would be your best choice.

We had a rental car so I am unable to help with the transportation questions.

Hope this helps if you have any further questions feel free to ask.
Have a magical visit.
