Your opinion: Will Delta's pilots go on strike?

Will Delta's pilots go on strike? And what will eventually happen?

  • Yes, and the airline will die a quick death

  • Yes, and will temporarily hurt Delta but they will recover

  • No, the pilots will decide that half a loaf of bread is better than no loaf at all

  • No, but the Delta will end up going under within a year or two anyway

  • No, and Delta will be around for a long time to come

  • Not sure, things could go either way at this point

  • Not sure, I haven't read enough to form an opinion

Based on everything you've read here on this board and elsewhere -- do you think that Delta's pilots will go on strike? And what is the long-term prognosis for the airline?

Poll coming.

I'm hoping....really, really hoping here...that come April 15 they will all (pilots and mgmnt) come to their collective senses and things will shake out nicely for the customer. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!!! I can sympathize with the pilots about not wanted to go backwards, and feel that the 'higher ups' have made some pretty poor choices in the recent past....they seem to doing pretty well financially. But, if there is a strike, that's it...stick a fork in Delta, they will be 'done'. And that will not be good for the industry.
I have flights booked for May 15, May 21, as well as in Oct. The flights in Oct don't concern me at the moment..I will be able to change them in May once we know what is happening. But those May flights would be impacted. Ah well, we'll just have to sit tight and hang on.
I just can't imagine that Delta will go under....but, that could be wishful thinking on my part.

No strike, Delta will come out of bankruptcy, and it will be around for a while.

Will Delta pilots strike if they don't have a contract? YES. Will it be a legal strike? We'll see what the judge says, I guess.

Just wanted to say that Delta is trying to void the Comair flight attendants contract, the same process as is taking place for the Delta pilots. I believe the judge could rule as early as Friday on that one. Comair flight attendants have voted to strike as well.

The Comair union could set the precedent (at least legally) for what would happen if the pilots contract is thrown out (i.e. if a strike would be legal/would they be forced back to work/etc.) I guess we'll all wait and see.

Delta is considering the sell of Comair, like it did with ASA.

That may be true, but for now and for the foreseeable future - they own Comair.

I was just stating some additional information. It came out during the bankruptcy hearing. I am sure restructuring would have to be in place for Comair before it could be sold. So yes, that isn't going to happen tomorrow.
