Just curious what you would do in this situation. I want my money back.

Someone at work was selling GSC, and I bought some (for me & my mom who is a Thin Mint addict). I had a pretty decent sized order. When the cookies came in, she asked for the money, I paid her, and she was to give me the cookies that night at the end of shift since they were in her car. She ended up leaving early and we missed each other. No big deal. I work with her on Fri nights only, and apparently she took all the cookies on Monday and put them on the counter in the breakroom, no note or name on them or anything. They disappeared. (of course)

Several coworkers admit they saw cookies in the breakroom, no note or name, and not in a bag or anything. Just a stack of cookies. Now I think I should get my money back since I never got my cookies, and she is saying it is not her fault someone stole them. I think it is her fault. What do you think?By the way, I also feel that I should mention there are several other people who paid for cookies and either didn't get them, or did not get what they ordered. SO something is a little "off" with this lady. I know I am going to end up with no money and no cookies, I just think it is crazy that this lady thinks it was ok to just toss em on the counter. Even if I had been at work, I would not have taken them if they did not have my name on them.

Next year I am predicting poor cookie sales for this woman. lol.

Hmmm....

Is this the first year the woman and her daughter sold cookies? Sure sounds like it since she didn't make sure the recepients actually got their cookies. I order from the place I get my hair cut (a stylist's daughter is a GS). Even though I may not be there for another week, she has them bagged with each person's name on them. This is the third yr and I've never had a problem.

I honestly think she wasn't careful by putting them out with no name on them, BUT it must have been someone in your office who ate them/ took them. So I would really place the blame with the anonymous co-worker, and just not ever order from that particular lady again.

I would want my money back also. If she could not take the time to bring them to you (which is what i think she should have done) it is her fault and she should have to pay for it not you. It sounds like she has something shady going on with the cookies and/or the money:confused3 Good luck getting the money back and post a follow up so we know what happened. :)

If you are not the only one who had problems with her it sounds like she may either be new to selling girl scout cookies, or just totally scamming you.

I don't know if you can do this everywhere, but this year I ordered my cookies online. You just request which kinds and how many boxes and then a representative will call you and they came to my house within the week.

I would demand my money back. If she refuses contact the girl scout troop her daughter is a member of, I bet they will make it right.

The breakroom is open to the public, we have a lot of delivery & service people in and out of there all day. It is not the kind of place you can leave your purse, wallet, or a nice coat without it getting stolen. SO it is pretty common knowledge that if you leave something there, it will not stay long. I want my money back.

She sounds like a real twit....

I would put it to her simply like this - I paid for my product, I didn't receive my product, I would like a refund. If she doesn't go for it then I would escalate.

Unfortunately I don't think the council can do anything as they were paid and the seller is a Mom or volunteer and ultimately if it is rectified without coming out of the twit's pocket then it's coming out of the girls.

Wow, I would be pretty upset with her for leaving them there like that.

At my office, any food that is left out in the breakroom with not label is assumed to be community food and anyone can share in it. So if there was a pile of GS cookies, they would absolutely get eaten. She should give you your money back.

OP, That is just crazy! If she put them in the breakroom, with no note as to who they were for, why wouldn't someone think they were just put there for everyone to enjoy?

How many boxes were you out? She owes you replacement cookies or your money back!

TC:cool1:

Let me tell you, as a leader for 10 years of 3 troops, a cookie mom many years and having worked in the cookie cupboard, you absolutely can and should contact the GS council. She was wrong and deliberate or not, you paid and were not given you cookies. Even if you saw them in the break room, how were yo uto know they were yours? We are told never to take money until we give the cookies.

This was so wrong, absolutely look up the number and call. They will have pleanty of cookies to give you. I know we have gotten calls of people who ordered and the girls never showed up and we would personally deliver their cookies out to them.

On behalf of all Girl Scouts, thank you for supporting the girls in their sales.

I believe the council will take care of you. It would be best to gather info from everyone screwed over by this woman and contact them as a group.

I too am a former GS leader and cookie chairperson for many years.....The whole thing should come down to this.
GS COOKIES are DELIVERED ....she did not deliver them to you.....end of that and call as the others have said..

My dd is a GS and they are not supposed to take the $$$ until they deliver the cookies - that lady is in the wrong in so many ways. Hope you get your $$$ back!

In my office, if you leave your sandwich out to go fill your cup with water, someone would take it!!! If you leave cookies out, even with a name, they will be gone. She owes you money or cookies, it is completely her fault they were taken.

Call the GS, they will make it right and maybe embarrass her in the process.

What she said - and I would make a point to not buy from her anymore if she thinks this is acceptable. it's not as if she left them on your front doorstep and they are not cheap either.

She should have given them directly to you, how were you to know she left them in the breakroom and that they were even your since there was no name on them. I would guess if they were just sitting out like that coworkers assumed there were there to be shared and helped themselves. I would definatly ask her for a refund or to replace the cookies and tell her that you will contact someone if she does not fix the situation.

"Old and experienced" or "new and inexperienced" - doesn't matter.. She left the cookies out in plain sight - for anyone to steal or help themselves to - totally irresponsible..

Come up with the cookies or return your money.. Those are the only two choices I would offer her.. If she doesn't make good, I would be making phone calls "up the chain"..

Sorry this happened to you..
