Your most foolish Purchase

Wilton cake pans.

I went to the Wilton outlet sale before I had kids and while I was taking Wilton classes. I bought a BOATLOAD of pans and supplies. Ten years later - they are in my garage waiting for me to sell them. I think I only used one of them!

I'll bet those would sell well on ebay.

I don't think I've made a tremendously foolish purchase...but my dad spend $600 on a "quality" in-wall air conditioner for our living room. ***?!?! WE ALREADY HAVE CENTRAL!!!

Lottery Tickets.
Ditto! Whenever the Mega Millions gets over $100mil some co-workers and I do a pool. We put in $5 each for each drawing, so that's $10/week. Plus I usually buy a couple plays on my own. Last week we won a whopping $2 in the first drawing, and nothing in the second. Thankfully someone else won the $325mil so I can stop playing for a while. :lmao:

I also spent a stupid amount of money on American Girl stuff last year. My sister and I both had the dolls when we were kids, and a couple years ago I got back into collecting them. Boy is it an addictive and expensive hobby! Then of course they had to go and "archive" Samantha, one of the dolls I have from childhood, so I spent several hundred dollars at one time buying up everything I didn't already have from her collection. I don't really regret these purchases, as I love the dolls and want to pass them on to my own DD some day, but its a little excessive. I need to look through it all and see if there is anything I want to sell; I'm sure there are some outfits/pieces in there I don't really like that I bought "just because."

Thought of another one - RidX insect & rodent repeller things. An infomercial purchase. Bought 2 of them and they don't do anything. You plug them in & they are supposed to emit an electrical signal through your walls that keeps out insects & rodents. It even sounds dumb, I don't know why I thought it would work. We use one of them as a nightlight in DD's room - it has a nice blue light on it. Most expensive nightlight ever! LOL.

Ok, I feel stupid to be the first one to admit this I bought SeaMonkeys they Magically come to life!!!!
They can even be trained!!!
The back of comic books. I was so excited my mother allowed me to get a pet.
The kit came with a plastic oblong tank with these magnifying bubbles in the plastic tank. I was so disappointed the brine shrimp never jumped through the hoops and I never got one of them to roll over or sit. I will have to give them credit for one trick.....they played dead after about 4 days.

And then, you would think I would learn, I had to get my own pair of X-ray glasses. Waited about 3 weeks for them to arrive and spent the next 3 weeks staring at my hand and every woman that walked by. Needless to say they didn't work.:sad2:

I just found this thread and am only on #30 but LAUGHING LIKE CRAZY!!

I am not laughing AT YOU, though....;)

My original tickets to go to Disney World back in 1990. I would have so much more money if only I had NOT made that purchase. LOL

:rotfl::lmao: I had to read this twice. Yeah, I think everyone on these boards is in the same boat- but I blame my parents for that... Or was it that Kool Aid Disney was passing out for people on their first trip?

Me 3.......LOL And I still find myself tempted to buy those "lose weight fast" pills, and I only want to lose 20 lbs!!

I bought the weight loss pills when I was around 18 and they didn't do jack. I bought 2 different kinds....first it started with the Apple Cider Vinegar ones  then it was the Lipozene, which sadly, was much more recent....which I still have in my bathroom closet because they haven't expired yet and part of me still feels that if I take them like I'm supposed to that they'll actually work. I know, I'm an idiot but those dang things were like $160. :confused3 Meanwhile, the exercise bike I was is only $170...I could have bought that instead and probably lost the weight already in a healthier way.

Hmm... Well, I have more makeup than I could ever use in the lifetime. But it's always so pretty and tempting! And, really, being a slightly lighter shade of pink means it's a completely different color. :rotfl:

just when i was thinking no one posted makeup i found it in the last post! i just purged my makeup last night and i cant believe how much i used to buy. it expires like a jar of mayonnaise yet we trick ourselves into buying it and holding onto it for like ten years.

oh and i have food allergies and just discovered that im allergic to my expensive deptartment store lip balm. speaking of department store makeup, bonus anyone? i got rid of that bug a few years ago but my friends are still suckers for it. its free but who wants free stuff you dont need and end up throwing out.

oh and not my money but all the scented lotion i have thrown out that people had given me as gifts that i used like twice and then it went bad.
i never use candles and hate getting them but hey at least they dont expire.

The Calphalon pots and pans I bought. They were really expensive and I hated the way they cooked. Stuff constantly stuck no matter what I did. I ended up throwing them out.

I bought a stupid Super Suppers franchise...I could cry thinking about it.

Mine was from on of the kiosk stands at our mall. I was supposed to smooth your nails with a buffing block and "special serum". Turns out I could have bought the same stuff at any drugstore for $30 less and still get the same result. I was so mad at myself.

My DH bought me not one, but TWO of those kits for Christmas last year. When I opened it, I looked at him like he had 2 heads and asked, "Why?!?!?!" He went on to explain how the guy at the mall showed it to him and how great it made your nails and how it was DEAD SEA stuff! I kind of stammered, "But... but.... but you can get the same thing at Target for less than $10!" When he told me how much he paid for them I about passed out. I told him from this point forward he should leave that kind of stuff to me!
