what variety if any do they offer for prepared food?

The supermarket I shop has an awesome selection of prepared foods. You can eat there or take home. They have a chinese buffet, a salad bar, a station to buy high quality meals (like chicken marsala or crab cakes), a pizza shop, a sub shop, and then many packaged items.

I shop at Wegman's.

Well, there are several supermarkets around here but the one with the best prepared food has rotesserie chicken, bbq ribs, fried chicken, steamed shrimp and crab legs.

I shop at a locally owned store . The family that owns it relocated here after Katrina destroyed their business .
They have an amazing selection of prepared foods and in the last year added a Sushi chef to their crew. Too many yummy goodies to list. They have been a welcome addition to our small community and recently opened a new location about 10 miles away .

A lot! It's called New Seasons and it's the best grocery store I've ever come across. They even have a big eating area, and the prepared food section could stand on its own as a good sized restaurant and bakery. They have soups, a large salad bar, custom sandwich making, hot foods, a wok, baked goods (pastries and bread), a large drink area, pizza, sushi.

I shop at Roche Brothers in MA and they have some prepared foods, but nothing really exciting.

I am VERY excited though that they are opening up a Wegmans in MA! It is going to be about 35-40 minutes from my house, but only 10 minutes from my work. My parents live in NJ and have several near them and I always look forward to going there when I am at my parents house.

Like a few other posters, I live about 1,000 feet from the best supermarket, Wegmans, so there are many options.

Our Wegmans has the following:
  • Chinese
  • Indian
  • Salads
  • Pizza
  • Wings
  • Subs
  • Carved sandwiches
  • Artisan sandwiches
  • Homestyle meals (ie. Mac & Cheese)
  • Sushi/Sashimi/Rolls
  • Paninis
They also have some other prepared meals, they call them $6.00 meal deals, where basically you choose your main dish and select two sides. There are about 6 - 10 main dishes and about 8 - 10 sides. The main dishes include things like Meatloaf, Pulled Pork, Herb Crusted Talapia, etc (meals they offer recipes for in their bi-monthly magazines) while sides include baked brussel sprouts, mac & cheese, etc.

Just a reference, we ONLY shop at Wegman's locally. There are four other stores not far from us, including Price Chopper, Tops and Walmart SuperCenter and Aldis. I refuse to even consider the last two, the first two I've gone occasionally if I'm out and about.

Kroger has a nice selection of prepared meals (salads, sandwiches, wraps, sushi, etc.), and meals that you just need to heat up really quick (enchiladas and meatloaf are what I remember seeing, but I know there's more). Can't say I shop their often, though, because they're very overpriced.

Stop & Shop

Salad Bar, soups, sushi, rotisserie chickens, chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, prepared dinners to take home and cook (ribs, macaroni & cheese, pasta dishes, side dishes of various veggies, and a few others I can't remember) also the seafood department will steam lobsters for you to go.

It's going to be near my BIL and SIL's...they are really excited!
