Your Honeymoon

We went to the Cayman Islands for a week. We paid for it ourselves, of course. I always thought that's what everyone did?

We went to Germany three weeks after we got married. I had relatives from Germany attending my wedding and their gift to us was our flight :yay: :yay:

Never drank so much beer in all my life :faint:

My DH and I still haven't gotten a honeymoon. We were able to go to Disney for a couple days (we live in Tampa) but not an actual honeymoon. His work wouldn't let him have the time off (military) and they Promised me that they'd let him have time off after that...soon. Instead, they sent him to the dessert for 3 months. Lol. So, I have hopes for a 1st Anniversary Disney Cruise...

We went to WDW for a week and stayed at the Polynesian in a concierge lagoon view room. My dad was kind enough to fly us down (he had loads of FF miles then) but we paid for the rest. Though we got a lot of money as gifts for our wedding from family, so it payed maybe 2/3 of our room. It was a once in a life time trip for us, and I am so glad we did what we did. We'll probably never get to stay at the Polynesian again! We went all out on that trip in general and had a blast!

No honeymoon here. We spent our wedding night at the Peabody in Memphis. I started a new job here in Tennessee the Monday after our wedding. We had planned to go to the Bahamas but three months after our wedding we found out I was pregnant. DH have only spent that 1 night in a hotel room alone. :sad1:

We're going to spend 5 days at Excellence Riviera Cancun in Mexico. Can't wait. We're paying for it ourselves. :)

My wife and I were married June of '05. We were married on Cape Cod, and our flight left from Boston's Logan airport. Now, why did I mention this? Because of a "blond moment" by one of our close and dear friends. A friend, who I'll call Jane Doe, traveled down from Boston and offered to drive us to our hotel that night. This was perfect. We didn't have to worry about renting a car, or asking one of our family members to drive us. After the reception, we got changed and brought out our luggage to be loaded in the trunk of the car. When we arrived at the car with our luggage, our friend Jane said, and I kid you not, "If I knew you were going to have luggage I would have cleaned the trunk out." :confused3 :rotfl2: My wife and I both thought the samething, did she think we were going to a nudist resort? It was funny.

Ok, so the honeymoon. We went to the Moon Palace in Cancun, Mexico (all-inclusive). It's a large place, huge in fact, but it was a great place to be. Through the package, we were offered tours of local Myan ruins and had the ability to go to other Palace Resorts and use their facilities. The only thing about the place I didn't like was the extremely hard beds, but otherwise it was a great place. I had requested an ocean view room and was given one. The resort had multiple restuarants to choose from and all was good.

I paid for the resort and my wife paid for the airfare. We were there for a week and yes, I would recommend it.

We didn't leave our wedding and head straight for WDW. We spent our wedding night at home, got up the next morning, drove to Atlanta and flew to WDW.

Why did we go there? My husband actually suggested it. Of course I went ga-ga!

How long did we stay? Sunday-Saturday.

Wouldn't have gone anywhere else. We go back to WDW every year :)

We were married in Feb. 1995. My FIL (love him) told the DH and I months before the wedding that as a wedding gift he wanted to give us two round trip airline tickets anywhere in the US as well as 5 nights at any Marriot.

So we went to Disney World and stayed at an off site (of course) Marriot. We paid for the park tickets and other expenses. Although, several people gave us cash as a wedding gift, telling us to spend it on the honeymoon. :rotfl: So we did.

We wouldn't have gone anywhere else, and yes! Everyone should go to Disney! ;)

We got married at a lookout point on Mount Tantalus in Hawaii and then spent a week and a half between Oahu and the Big Island of Hawaii at the Volcano and visiting family in Hilo.

August 31 is when we married, had our honeymoon, and then came back to have our lu'au reception on Oahu the second week of September.

JohnsPrincess, I hope it works out for you both and you have a wonderful time!

We went to Maui for our Honeymoon. We were there for 5 nights and 6 days. We paid for everything ourselves except the plane tickets which his parents paid for as a wedding present to the two of us. We had a great time. Sigh. I wish I could be there right now instead of MN.

We didn't have a real honeymoon for several years. I had just opened a new business a few months before we were married and my wife had started a new job as well. We did a quick trip to San Francisco and called it good.
In December of 2000 I walked in her office with flowers and handed her the tickets for the first leg of our trip (I had worked all of this out with her boss) On our third night in Vegas I put the tickets on her pillow for the next days flight to Orlando where we spent a week at CBR. On Christmas eve at dinner in Epcot I gave her the tickets to Turks & Caicos in the British Virgin Islands where we spent ten days at the Allegro Resort. We had the time of our lives for those three weeks and I'd say it was worth the wait.
I still have my business and now she's the "boss" in her office. And the silly girl still thinks I'm a romantic.:flower3:

We went to Young Island for a week (private island off the coast of St. Vincent) and absolutely loved it! I would recommend it to anyone. DH and I paid for it and it was definitely money well spent.

We didn't go on our honeymoon until two months after our wedding-- it wasn't a very good time for us to take off work (we got married when we did to accommodate family).

When we did go, we went to Asheville, NC and stayed in a cabin for 4 nights. It was fun-- a good mix of outdoor/nature stuff and downtown dining/shopping. We also visited the Biltmore Estate while we were there. :thumbsup2

We went to Kauai for 7 days and then Oahu for 2days. DSIL had lots of FF miles and gave us the plane tix as a gift, but we paid for everything else.

DH had never been to the US and wanted to visit WDW so we did 14 nights at the Grosvenor and then 7 nights at Tradewinds Isalnd Grand on St Pete Beach. We have been back to WDW 4 times now and other parts of the US 3 times in just under 6 years. The only thing with the first visit is as we paid for it all ourselves we didn't stay onsite, mind you the following year we stayed at WL for 14 nights to celebrate our first wedding anniversary

Claire ;)

We went to the Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater area of Florida. It was fabulous! We paid for it ourselves and were down there for about a week. We went to the Tampa aquarium, Ybor City (during the day), the Salvadore Dali Museum, the Wringling Bros Museum, and a pirate sunset cruise.

DH and I got married in early December, but decided to postpone the honeymoon for 3 weeks because I worked in sales (and on commission w/ Verizon Wireless) and didn't want to miss our busiest weeks of the year. We paid for all our portions of our trip and wedding, so we really needed the extra money.

At the beginning of January we spent 1 week in London with day trips to Stonehenge, Bath and Windsor Castle. We also spent a week in Greece with a day trip to Delphi. It would have been absolutely wonderful, if I had not gotten pregnant sometime within those 3 weeks before our trip. I was so miserable, I had morning sickness that lasted from morning to night and couldn't really eat anything aside from cold cereal and gummy worms. Although we saw/ did a lot on our trip, we didn't truly enjoy our experience. Dh and I vowed that will we "redo" our trip for our 10th anniversary.
