OK, to end this week's wedding questions, I thought it would be fun to talk about the last thing you do at a wedding - leaving for your honeymoon.
So, where did you go? How long were you there? Who paid for it? Would you recommend that other's go to the same place? Do you wish you had gone some place else? Etc...

My wife and I spent a week at WDW :cool1: . My dad gave us a week of timesharing at the Vistana resort, just down the road from Disney. The only part that we had to pay for would have been the ticket prices (this was almost 17 years ago), but even that was taken care of. While we were in line to buy tickets, this other couple asked us if we wanted the rest of their tickets for the week. Apparently they had to leave unexpectedly, and they wanted to give their tickets to somebody else. I think we still had that deer-in-the-headlights-I-can't-believe-we-just-got-married look because they seemed to know that we were newlyweds. It really was a wonderful week, and I would highly recommend to anybody that they too should do Disney for their honeymoon. I suppose that Hawaii or Europe would have been great too, but for me, I'm glad we did WDW. :thumbsup2

we spent a week at the BWI and loved every minute of it (we paid for it ourselves). we were glad we did wdw, too. everyone laughed when we first told them where we were going, but we had a fantastic time.

We went to Tahiti for 2 weeks and then to Napa/San Francisco for 5 days. It was the best!

DH and I also went to Disney World for a week. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. DH's friend worked for Disney at the time and he got it for us for 100.00 a night. Can't beat that!! :)

We went to St. John, USVI, and loved it. The beaches were beautiful, the water was amazing. We stayed in a condo unit that had a kitchenette, so we did some grocery shopping for breakfast and lunch, but had dinner at some neat restaurants. I thought we would want to go to St. Thomas for the shopping and night life, but we had so much fun tooling around the island in the jeep, snorkeling, and umm...well..."staying in" that we didnt' feel the need to.

It was pretty warm when we were there in June, but it wasn't unbearable. The mosquitos were pretty bad at night, so we had to wear a lot of bug spray. They liked to chew on your legs when you were having dinner.

We went back with the kids for a day when we went on our cruise. It was so great to see the place again, and I would definitely vacation there again.

A week in the Cayman Islands.

We were scuba divers back then and the Caymans have great dive sites. Unfortunately, after diving once a day (sometimes 2x), I felt overdosed and the sport lost its appeal for me.

It was still a GREAT time, though, and we both would love to get back there one day...even if it's just as a shore excursion on a cruise.

Oh, ETA: We paid for the whole trip ourselves.

We also went to WDW...stayed at a Renaissance by Sea World...DH worked for the company at the time, so we got a room rate of $25/night. We paid for it ourselves.

First week was in a time share down the road from Disney. We got the airfare for free, time share from my parents and DH's cousin works at disney, so we got in free too..lol

Second week was on a Carnival Cruise to the Eastern Carribean. TONS TONS of fun!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally recommend that to anyone! BTW we paied for the cruise ourselves:)

We went to Sanibel Island for a week. It was so nice there. Relaxing and very pretty. We paid for it of course!

Didn't really have a honeymoon. We went to New Orleans for a couple of days (of course, we paid) and then were supposed to go to Italy 7 months later for two weeks (had much more vacation time then).

It turned out to be a good thing we didn't have a big honeymoon planned because I had gotten sick. And instead of getting better, I kept getting worse. Went from our wedding reception to the hospital. One of the things they told me was I couldn't fly (I had developed, along with everything else thanks to an earlier misdiagonsis, a horrible ear infectiion).

As far as my May honeymoon, that got canceled because I got pregnant a little sooner than planned and it wasn't going all that well. We've decided to do a big vacation just the two of us for our upcoming 10th anniversary.

We went to SANDALS St. Lucia. It was alot of fun! We went for 9 days and it was around $7000. (we paid) We had a great time riding in a helicopter and taking an island tour (those were extra). We also went snorkeling. The resort was beautiful but to be honest it was way overpriced. We enjoyed it but we had and amazing time in Mexico for less than half the price on another trip. We're glad we went and don't regret it a bit but it was overpriced.

Me got married in May and went on out honeymoonin July. We went to Puerto Rico... My dad bought us the plane tickets as a wedding gift.. guess he was trying to make up for missing my wedding due to a car race:sad2:

We were married in March (18th, anniversary is this Sunday – 12 years) but we didn’t go on our honeymoon until August because I was still in college.

We paid for it ourselves and we went for 10 days to London and Scotland. We caught many English Premier soccer games and also a game up in Scotland (Rangers). We visited many historic sites and loved every minute of it.

We really want to get back again, but whenever we mention it to the kids they keep saying they want to go back to Disney. We will not pay all that money for them to complain, so we wait and continue to go to Disney each year (tough, huh!)

We went to Aruba for a week. LOVED IT!!! I can't remember the name of it. It was all-inclusive. DH & I paid for it.

We flew into Vegas, stayed at NY/NY for five nights. Then we rented an SUV and drove over to Zion, Utah, (Zion National Park) and stayed there for a week. Then we moved over to Bryce, Utah, (Bryce Canyon), for three nights. Then it was back in the SUV to head back to Vegas, only this time we stayed at the Rio for five nights.

The only thing I would change is staying at Bryce for three nights. We absolutely could have seen Bryce in a day, day and a half. Zion, on the other hand, we could spend a month in and not see and do everything.

We chose this destination because of my dear great-aunt's recommendation. She was a teacher her entire life, and every summer she spent traveling -- always somewhere new and always in the USA. If anyone's seen every foot of our country, it's her. She told us the most beautiful, breathtaking part of the USA is southern Utah, canyon country. This was followed by a close second of digging up dinosaur bones in Montana, but she did that back in the '60s and wasn't sure if you could still do that.

I'm not sure how to classify who paid for it. My family offered me the "big wedding" or "lots of cash" option. We opted for the cash option and had a very small wedding (17 including DH & I). The cash paid for the small wedding, the honeymoon, as well as a down payment for our first home and a bunch of stuff to go into it (we'd rented before, so we needed appliances and things).

I would absolutely recommend Vegas/Utah. Everything in southern Utah is either deep red or deep green. And Zion is truly unreal.

We went to Hawaii for a week and a half. Spent one night in Honolulu (flight landed too late), then went to Maui and the Big Island. Stayed in a hotel on Maui and a timeshare on the Big Island (courtesy of MIL). We flew first class to and from HNL (courtesy of Dad), which was fun and awesome. Except for the timeshare, the flight to Hawaii and some extra spending $$ from my father, we paid for everything.

I would love to go back and I highly recommend everyone and anyone to visit Hawaii. It's not as expensive as it might seem. And Hawaii is just stunning and beautiful. :sunny:

We did 2 weeks in Sandals Ocho Rios. Loved every minute of it. We vowed to go back for our 10yr anniversary, but 2 children later, I would not think of that $$$ being spent that way.

Maybe for 20 years..;)

we were married in August 1994. First we went to a Paintball Tournament in Pittsburgh Pa. My Husband was really into Paintball at the time, his team was ranked high , so we did the tournament first.
Then we went to Disney World for 2 weeks. we stayed at CBR, and had a great time. we paid for our Honeymoon ourselves.

We spent 10 days in the British Virgin Islands at Peter Island Resort. It was AMAZING and I can't wait to go again.

We spent a week at Saphire Beach in St Thomas. That was the last 'big' vacation we took until our 10th anniversary-- we sailed the eastern caribean on DCL so we could go back to St Thomas.
