So... we are first timers, and I'm definetly a shopper... I have quite a few special things already on my list (like a pearl in Epcot-Japan for my bday)...

So I was wondering, what have been your most treasured souvineers bought by you and your family in the park? And how much were they? How much do you usually spend on souvineers? That might help me budget a bit more, as I'm thinking $200 will probably not be enough for the four of us!

Thanks!
Laura :goodvibes

1ST TRIP to WDW Apr 26 to May 3!
from St. Louis, MO

My ornaments and my Precious Moments are my favorite souvenirs from Disney. We no longer travel with kids, but between DH and I, and my Christmas ornament madness, we spend close to $400 or $500. HOWEVER, a good chunk of that is used with my Disney Vis Rewards dollars that I accumulate each year--and the purpose of our Disney Visa.

We collected the ceramic Christmas Village houses that are now being retired. :( I'm going to miss them!! We tried to buy one per trip.

I also have a pretty extensive Figment collection, and those are favorites as well. :)

Doesn't sound like much but I like to get any new photo frames that come out each year for our family Disney photos. For myself, I get a new zip up sweatshirt with the year on it. I wear them all the time and get alot of people that will ask me how many times I've been to WDW.

Enjoy your first trip: Our favorite souvineer is simply the memories and the pictures of our trips, especially for some of those first trips when the kids were young.

The cost of souvineers adds up quickly so it's good to budget. For the five of us, we budget $100 each for souvineers and that is a hard budget to stay within many times! :confused3 The only "standard" items we purchase are (1) a pin from each trip for our pin cabinet -- generally a dated one and one from any special event we attended such as MVMCP, etc. and (2) an annual ornament.

We've learned with the kids to give them their own money and once it's gone, it's gone. It's funny to watch them as they really think hard before buying anything and will usually wait until the end of the trip to buy anything after they've had a chance to scout out the parks and DTD.

I always make sure to a photo album or scrapbook for each trip, along with ornaments for our tree that Santa delivers every Christmas to our kids.

Does anyone know if DW has shotglasses? It's a pretty common souvenier and the hubby and I are avid collectors of these... but then I started thinking about it, DW is family oriented and shotglasses don't always give off the best message...lol

Yep, they definitely sell shotglasses. But at the Magic Kingdom (where they don't sell alcohol) they call them 'toothpick holders.' ;)

Honestly I dont like to buy Souvineers because in my thinking I " Am going to go back" why do I need a souvie! LOL But the two things I do buy are Key Chains and postcards they are wonderful to decorate a cork board with my favorite pictures!

Ornaments. Im trying to collect a ornament for every place i go including disney. But for disney i get a ornament for which resort i stay in, and try and get one with dates on them, and if i happen to be in Epcot and see one i like i purchase it too..

I could use a few toothpick holders right about now... filled with something besides toothpicks :lmao:

My favourite things to bring back are the refillable mugs. Use them everyday for my coffee at work...its nice to look at them and remember.

My fav's are my huge mug, my ornament (engraved with the year) and my most favoritest ;) ever is my wine stopper. It's a silver mickey head and I LOVE it. Just a little thing that reminds me of WDW whenever I have a glass of wine. :lovestruc

I didn't have much to spend on our trip so I spent wisely and tried to think of things that would be used daily, not just stuck in a closet or box somewhere! (my ornament is silver and actually hangs in my kitchen year-round) :)

magnets! i also will get teeshirts and my new favorite are the themed stuffed mickeys.
